My father in law was a FIFO bus driver on a rolling shift site. His day was driving back and forth between dongas and the work site in a continuous loop of tired workers. He did it for decades. The entire workforce that wasn't on shift or RnR went to his funeral. 😊

Alot of our young men where I live leave school at 18 and think their fortunes can be made on the FIFO mines near us and it can. IF you can do the hours, be away from family and friends and do it consistently. My friends who do it lose contact slowly with our small community. I have nothing but respect for all of you doing so.
Brilliant mate, I was a construction worker DIDO for a decent chunk of my adulthood, ended up getting into uni for accounting and financial planning in the hopes I could help the brothers out who blow their money on stupid shit and end up broke even though they’re on great wages. We’ll see how that ends up once I graduate next year. Video brought back memories of some of the best and simplest times I’ve lived so far. Cheers

I felt like my experience was awesome up there, I did 18 months on conveyor belts changing out rollers, some days I could barely lift my arms at the end of the day, 90% of the blokes I worked with were super respectful and got along with each other. Its either be in conflict 12 hours a day while labouring or be good to the people you’re around. You also don’t want to press a some of the boys who throw 30kg steel rollers around like children’s toys 😂I loved the respect people give each other up there. I have also never laughed harder in my entire life than when I was up there.

Yep DIDO and FIFO so many years i did that for except we did extreme swings of 6 weeks on 3 days off , great way to make coin though . However so many work mates use to blow whatever they made on toys and pokies , best advice i could give anyone doing this sort of work would be set yourself up financially for the future as working away all the time eventually takes its toll .

Lots of construction with renewables and they wanna build two big pumped hydro plants (borumba damn and pioneer burdekin). There's a hydrogen thing going in in brisbane supposedly. Rare earth mining is rumoured to be taking off one day(not sure how easy or hard that will be to get into if it does). To be fair once renweeable plants are up and running they probably don't offer the same amount as permanent jobs as like a coal mine but yeah there's a lot of stuff going on for a while just in energy and generation alone. Coal mines are still around and in South West Queensland there is all the gas operations as well. Working in the gas would be similar to working in the mines. Probably not as dirty tho lol haha.

See where life takes me, I'm loving the army so far but I think it would be cool to work in the mines as an Elec Fitter and/or Sparky (hoping to get my A-grade during my time at a unit). All I know is I have both options of discharging or dropping to reserves after my minimum service and heading to the mines or staying in and ranking up. Stay strong brother. I do a lot of dido myself and have so for 13 years now. So i know the feeling of staying away in some shithole place but it's not as tough as what you're doing. Side note, you must have to be in bed by like 8 o clock to even survive day to day with those massively long shifts. The long travel to and fro site looks like a killer.
I agree to this. Ive been a mine surveyor in the philippines for 6 yrs and yes, life in the mine is like, you go to work while it s still dark; you get home already dark 😄 & it takes u away from friends and family. But vacations are there given which makes it good anyway.

Work you do: very dependent on the role you've got. Most people start off in a big ass truck hauling loads of dirt up and down long drive ways, literally for 12-hours. Rosters: depends on the mine. Most entry-level mining roles will be 2 weeks on, 1 week off. That means 1x a week of night shift, 1x a week of day shift, 1x a week off back home. You may get lucky with 1 week on and off, or 2 weeks on and off. It's rare that "miners" (rather than office staff, engineers, geologists) would be on an 8 days on 6 days off roster. Food: Again, very variable based on the contractor. Expect lots of staple veggies, roast meats, roast chicken thighs, and curries. Breakfast is a traditional hot-and-cold affair similar to any buffet breaky you get at a 3-4 star hotel. Your lunch (crib) is usually cold meats, salads, fruits, and servo quality pies you can stick in an oven when on-site. Accom: not usually in a motel like this. Usually you have small rooms with a basic bed, bar fridge, shower, and toilet inside. To be honest, you won't want more than that - you'll be asleep soon after calling home anyway. A lot of camps will also have a communal bar and gym too. Bars only serve mid-strength drinks, and you're usually only allowed 4 per day.
I knew a few guys on camp that were barely hanging on by a thread from this lifestyle. Going underground when its dark and coming back up when it’s dark. Not seeing sunlight for weeks does a number on your mental health fr 💯 Not forgetting that sweet satisfaction you get from cracking open your first cold one after shift. Respect to you.

@Audiochannel32 I don't disagree with your point man. Guys get absolutely screwed over when it comes to custody of the kids, even if the woman cheats. I just meant not every FIFO relationship ends in cheating etc. There are quite a few where this lifestyle suits and works perfectly.
I used to do maintenance in FIFO accommodation in Moranbah. I used to have everything tip top for the blokes and I would refuse to use any power tools as about 1/4 of the blokes were on nights. The most common maintenance other than room stuff like remote controls, towel rails, door hinges ect was the washing machines. Had coal machines and normal machines and the coal machines were f*cked up on a fortnightly basis haha.
Shout out to you blokes, mining looks like a very hard job, long hours and time away from family, dirty and dangerous work conditions, without you lads society would crumble, unsung heroes!

I work in the Canadian oil sands, pretty much we have the same life way up here, except our camp, fortunately is located on site, so my bus ride is only 5 min, I spend that 5 minutes doing what you do, looking at my photos of my son, and I suppose, I got lucky with the shift I'm on now, 8 days up 6 days back, but I'm about to go on a 22 days on here before Christmas so it's gonna be tough

I doubt you would be allowed to use filming devices on the work site..could be wrong but most industries don't allow it.

@Audiochannel32 I don't disagree with your point man. Guys get absolutely screwed over when it comes to custody of the kids, even if the woman cheats. I just meant not every FIFO relationship ends in cheating etc. There are quite a few where this lifestyle suits and works perfectly.
I used to do maintenance in FIFO accommodation in Moranbah. I used to have everything tip top for the blokes and I would refuse to use any power tools as about 1/4 of the blokes were on nights.
The most common maintenance other than room stuff like remote controls, towel rails, door hinges ect was the washing machines. Had coal machines and normal machines and the coal machines were f*cked up on a fortnightly basis haha.
REALLY considerate of you man, I'm sure a lot of people appreciated that more than you'd ever know (not using power tools). Legend.
Shout out to you blokes, mining looks like a very hard job, long hours and time away from family, dirty and dangerous work conditions, without you lads society would crumble, unsung heroes!

This is the first video I’ve seen a bloke make in this format. Bit of a shift from the women that wake up at 8 and get to work at like 9-9:30 and then just sit around all day talking about movies and then go out to eat Brunch, Lunch AND Dinner with coworkers at restaurants every single fuckin day and knock off work at 4-5 in the afternoon. 🤣🤣

I work in the Canadian oil sands, pretty much we have the same life way up here, except our camp, fortunately is located on site, so my bus ride is only 5 min, I spend that 5 minutes doing what you do, looking at my photos of my son, and I suppose, I got lucky with the shift I'm on now, 8 days up 6 days back, but I'm about to go on a 22 days on here before Christmas so it's gonna be tough
