At her best, such as here. Galli-Curci make this hugely difficult aria sound easy - and of-course, gorgeous. She originally wanted to be a concert pianist.
Wonderful and an interesting comparison with Tetrazzini---two of the top coloratura sopranos in history : th-cam.com/video/i6H2XIVeLoE/w-d-xo.html Very many thanks.
Astonishing vocalism, but by today's standards not the right voice for the rest of the role. I wonder if even at her Met debut in the role in 1921 whether the audience wasn't thinking back to when Nordica sang it with a rich lyric instrument, or closer to the date, Farrar. Anyway, times and tastes change. Perhaps it was felt that she was perfect for the role. It's a lovely timbre allied to a rock solid technique, that's for sure.
Absolutely terrific… inspired and inspiring… and performed with so much grace and charm… 🌟🌟🌟
Thank you for the magnificent post! 🙏🍀
Again, thrilling audio quality and performance.

She also recorded the main part of the aria, "A Fors' E Lui", on the same date. Together they account for most of the fifth scene.
I have that side, but haven't posted it... yet!
