There are plenty of this "modern lot" who can produce as much original music as OMD did. In fact, they have a harder job than most, having to stand out from the several decades worth of music that's surfaced since. A great example of bands who decided to stick to their guns and just play what they want, but still remain innovative; Crumb. There are many more, but Crumb made my old, cynical ears stand up more than just about anything in the last 20 years at least.
OMG, it's OMD with Messages. Get the Message these guys are Class.
I'm glad they re-recorded it. I didn't know this version existed, until I read about it in Wikipedia. Thank you for posting it.

What a band teach this modern lot a thing or to about real music.

Its the album version. Love them both. Favourite song of all time takes me back to being 17.
This wasn't on the orginal vinyl album. That version was only 4.12 long.
Was referring to the intro being different. Not splitting hairs!@@SmartCookie2022
where can I buy this ? Thank you for the video.
This is the demo that Andy rejected.
It's an old treasure, but you can see why he preferred the "proper" studio version. More succinct, and more solidly produced.
its not an offical extended version
No it’s not
No wait actually it is
@@humanchannel7825 I think its the 10 inch version
IT'S THE ORIGINAL, YOU ASSBITE!
@@timdoherty812 nope, the 10 inch is the new version
Seems a bit slow with the old tempo, slack turntable belt methinks?
