Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.

I have the same thoughts probably doesn't work but when I can get them to cuss me out then hang up the phone I feel like I win!

About the lightning bugs, an old farmer told me when you see the first lightning bug that means it’s 2 weeks till wheat harvest. We will see!

Whoa the difference between corn with and without starter is crazy.
I think lightning bugs had a meaning to all farmers, when we saw the first lightning bug of the year we would set up the pivots to put fertilizer on the second cutting alfalfa. The woman from LA might just become a new subscriber Nathan, ya never know😎

I am surprised you don't have a tool box on the tool bar that has all the special tools and parts you need for in field repair. We have had a ton of lightning bugs for the last two weeks

pretty sure Phil had his reasons, but its a good reminder on how the hours can get away on you if you dont keep it under control. Idling when waiting, idling when washing, fueling, etc. All those minutes add hours...

Griggs farm llc TH-cam channel did a video with some professors that covered his rye annuals breaking up his hard pan soil a monthish ago. May be something to check out for that hill top. Other than ripping that tree line could maybe help. Maybe sallford will give you a demo cultivator that has the seeding box on it like the Ivers farm used last farm.

Ive never heard of lightning bugs before, or at least i don't remember hearing about them, I don't think we have those up here in Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦 are you talking about Fire flies ?? Those we do have here in Alberta, but they've never been a problem for our crops, anyways, I'm curious to know, Thank you, Stay safe, God Bless and Farm on my Friends
Yes Lightning Bugs = Fireflies, they aren't a problem for the crop. There presence is a sign to start looking for corn rootworm.
I got the same text about 10-12 days ago. Ignored and deleted it.
Every situation like that I think it's a scam but I play a long just for fun.
Worst case scenario I spend a little bit of time messing with a scammer wasting their time.
Best case scenario it's not a scam and they really do have something cool for you.
Actually trying to decide that thing right now.
Solar salesman came by the house claimed that they could reduce my energy bill by 50% and then after 25 years I'd have a free solar system...
Who knows I might get a free solar system and 50% off my bill.

I got the same text, I deleted it immediately, it’s a scam , if you don’t know who a text is from don’t open it, if you do they can steal your information

It’s a scam for sure, I had the same type text/conversation last month.
Sadly that's considered a wrong number scam and it can go a variety of different ways. Unfortunately they know the number is active now so you'll likely get more in the future. Edit: Also, sometimes these don't directly result in a scam themselves but the information you send via the texts is used against you in future scams. Like for example, if you gave them your name or what you do for work etc then they can use that to create scams for fake bills/charges scams later on down the road that use your real info to appear valid. They build up your trust somehow and then after a while they hit you with a multitude of different things like "I want to visit you can you send me money/cryptocurrency?" or "I must leave my country can you help me?" etc. Sometimes it takes months for them to ask but it's mostly an elaborate pig butchering scam. Sadly they are very effective these days. The other aspect is that they gather personal info from these conversations and then use that against you later on. Sometimes in the form of bills with your name/personal info on it, sometimes impersonating government officials etc.

TH-cam doesn’t like this comment so apologies if it’s a bit short but it’s a long drawn out form of building up trust and then asking for money or more recently, creating fake bills etc with the gathered information. It’s called pig butchering.

but... that leaves a big chunk of that 90% left that ''could be scam'' but may not be actually :) HAHA some peeps don't beleeve in coincidences so even a wrong number is never wrong for SOME REASON or another...
