Derringer makes sense because it’s a .357 out of what is effectively a chamber with a trigger. It’s got a pretty small grip too so realistically it makes sense to have a lot of snap:
I own a Taurus .357 "derringer" IRL and it's called a stomach gun for a reason. You stuff it as deep in the person's stomach as you can then fire both rounds. Anything more than 20 feet and if you actually hit the target it was all luck. And yes you have to hold on tight to not drop the gun and it has a lot of recoil when chambered in .357 A .22 is easy to control. And 9mm is manageable.
Not a fan of these changes personally. I think DayZ defintely needs more recoil on its weapons, but nerfing the SMGs without also nerfing the ARs is a bad move. The SMGs in DayZ are already very underpowered, the ARs are just so much stronger in every way. Giving the SMGs even more recoil kinda just makes this problem worse, it's minimising the weapon diversity that people will actually use. What they should really do is increase the recoil on the ARs and keep the SMGs having less recoil, making them more viable in some scenarios / to some players.
Not only that, but it dilutes the authenticity that dayz has/had by making already underpowered weapons uncontrollable. Why is the MP5K so fucking difficult to control?? It's a 9mm smg, it should be a dream to shoot. This change breaks both balance and authenticity.
I really like games with a kind of loose weapon, maybe it’s inertia I’m thinking of. But I went back and played 0.63 and I feel like the ads firing feels so much better (hipfire turning inertia sucked though) Point being, I think changing it back to a middle ground system between the 2 would make the guns more difficult to control without having to bump up recoil like this
Yeah. Makes perfect sense for the .380 to hit the ceiling in the 5th round but the biggest round in the game you need to shoot at least 15 before worrying about it lmao.
An automatic UMP45 in real life would be very stable. Anyone who has experience shooting “pistol” cartridges would know that. The front end weight of the UMP45 would counterbalance much of the kick, and there’s not much kick to begin with. Edit: UMP45 has a blowback system that causes wobble/ instability. That is NOT the same as vertical recoil. Now you know.
Exactly. Its a pistol caliber, albeit a large one, but still a pistol caliber out of a long gun with a stock. It also has a fairly low firerate. If anything the pistols should be getting more recoil rather than the long guns. All of this convinces me that the devs have no experience with firearms.

DayZ is about to make the opposite mistake of Tarkov. A few years ago, Tarkov recoil was so low that you could literally laser somebody from 50 meters away with a vector SMG. Then the recoil got patched into being way too much, and people complained for years until it was finally changed in the most recent major Tarkov update/server wipe and people absolutely love it. DayZ used to already hit that middle ground of recoil perfectly in my opinion. A stock M4 shouldn't have such insane recoil, even with somebody with only a little shooting experience. DayZ players will complain for sure.
When in Vegas used an m249 saw, and then an mp5 and the smg had so much recoil it absolutely blew my mind. I appreciate them making them as insane as I remember
I just got in a fire fight with the usg45 and I was taken by surprise. It was cqb do I was still able to land my shots but it did jump around more then I was used to.

They need to buff the m16. It doesnt make sense having more recoil than the m4 beeing heavier and lower rate of fire having the same, well, lower. Irons sights only and burst fire should be the downsides only, such a great gun.

I’ve been having a problem since late February where a single headshot will just…miss even in close range. But then melee works fine, so its not desync bugs
PvP still sucks tho... people move too fast, there is too much sway, ADS too quick, visibility too shit and you can just get one tapped by snipers after they finish their 60m dash because accuracy is always almost 100%...
Ive been playing FPS games since i was 6 years old and DayZ's pvp is god awful in todays state, whats worse is the devs seem to have no interest in improving it. They like it behaving as it is. A dumbed down console port that's more akin to COD than it is ArmA.
You probably running around with full inventory with 2 full size weapons. (let me guess, an assault rifle and a sniper). thats why you get too much of aim sway due to how many kilos your character is carrying.

Facts. Hell i miss the version itself.....WOW has classic+.....There's a recent remake of the original tomb raiders.......Today EA games released an entire bundle on steam for all the old command and conquer games in one package. But are we allowed to play the old legacy version of DayZ? Nope.
This is a step away from realistic gunplay all in all. Here's how it should go. - Suppressor: Increased felt recoil because of increased back pressure, increased wear on firearms, increased velocity. - Railed Handgaurd: Heavy af, reduces muzzle climb (need more attachments plz) - Wooden handgaurd. Lightweight, vibe points...better ADS? Worse recoil. - MP5: Roller delayed locking has the softest recoil pattern on the market. Why it's still in use after 50+ years with SOF. - VZ61: Small caliber soft shooting Lazer beam. - UMP45: Direct blowback .45 kicks more than it should but not as much as an AR. - Bizon: Direct blowback but in .380 with all the mag weight out front is a lazer. -AK74: Soft predictable recoil w/5.45 & factory muzzle brake. 650rpm. - AKM: Significant felt recoil 7.62x39 and no modern muzzle brake. 600rpm - AK101: Kicks more than 74, not as much as AKM. -M4A1: 900RPM is excessive and usually means the rifle is over gassed. 750-800RPM with soft predicatble recoil pattern due to DI system.
This is pretty much how the game USED to function, but like many things was discarded as the years have gone by. Instead of "whats good for the game and its community" its more about what makes us cash.
One weapon I’d love to see in DayZ is something like a 9mm or .45 revolver. A Ruger LCR, maybe a Taurus 905, maybe a smith and Wesson model 625. It’d be a nice intermediate between the powerful revolver and the weaker but higher capacity semiautomatics. Be a nice starting gun, or for clearing infected without worrying about jams

Bohemia devs REVERTED the "prone to wall glitch" cause it introduced a glitch that could make tou phase through walls! Bohemia fixes one thing and ads 10 new glitches. The only "safe" changes they could make without adding new bugs are related to gun control and damage!
Honestly, I think these little changes like recoil and stuff are nice, however it almost means nothing when cheating such as duping is so high rn that nobody hardly even uses the mp5 or ump. M4s everywhere. I don’t think I’ve actually seen a player with a mp5 in like 3 years nor have I picked one up myself
I’m really not a fan of these types of changes, it makes the game feel like less of an apocalypse survival game where anything that shoots projectiles will work and more like a COD type game where you must use the “meta” (in this case an AR + Sniper loadout) to succeed. Smgs were already (stopping power wise) non viable in mid-late game anyway with plate carriers everywhere, and nerfing their recoil makes them practically useless (and much less realistic). I really hope they revert the recoil changes for the lower caliber guns at least.

I hate recoil in video games. Everybody who fired a firearm know you will naturally compensate without even thinking about it, recoil going up is not a thing irl. Dispersion and fatigue should be a thing, not recoil.

Im not a fan on how they decide what gun gets what attachments The Famas is rare as hell yet its iron sight is shit and it cant take a suppressor and its mags are small Yet compare that to the significantly more common and it has a better iron sight and a 1.5 with the bottle suppressor too Then take the M4 its the best weapon in the game with the most attachments and mags and it also takes a suppressor too Then look at the LAR whats the point to it with a 20 round mag and has the same scopes and a lower fire rate, yet its one of the rarest guns in the game. Yet the M4 is better in all situations so why take the LAR If its gonna be as rare as it is it should also get a suppressor to make it a more viable choice same with the famas The Aks are good they are fine the way they are same goes for the Sval and VSS As they have their own benefits and all take common rounds attachments and suppressors along with the suppressor also fitting on the VDS
coffee is a good idea. and +10% is actually balanced. I also wish they add mentality stat. your mentality stats goes down if you are low on food or water, injured, sick or being cold. only pristine food increases your mentality stats significantly or smoking a cigarette. Other ways of increasing the mentality stats could be resting anywhere by laying down or around camp fire for speedy increase. The effects of low mentality stats is how much you drain your stamina and aim sway.
Are the devs making these unnecessary changes because they need to justify getting a paycheck every week to their employer? “Look at all the ‘improvements’ we made last month! We’re valuable to the company!” 😒🙄

The recoil is pretty jumpy/snappy on UMPS IRL. Check out Brandon Herreras video on it.

Recoil is fine. I hate the weapon jamming mexchanics. Ill have a worn weapon with pristine mag ammo amd it still jams.

My guess is that if they buff the M16 there will be less reason to go north seeking a M4.

I think recoil is fine. The real problem is the Re-center time. Makes recoil feel very floaty

Because M4s and AKs sell more copies of the game, it gets all of those Call of duty kids frothing at the mouth which we have now inherited in recent years.

I hate recoil in video games. Everybody who fired a firearm know you will naturally compensate without even thinking about it, recoil going up is not a thing irl. Dispersion and fatigue should be a thing, not recoil.
It looks like the Vaiga is trash without buckshot. There is no way to accurately fire slugs.

Im not a fan on how they decide what gun gets what attachments
The Famas is rare as hell yet its iron sight is shit and it cant take a suppressor and its mags are small
Yet compare that to the significantly more common and it has a better iron sight and a 1.5 with the bottle suppressor too
Then take the M4 its the best weapon in the game with the most attachments and mags and it also takes a suppressor too
Then look at the LAR whats the point to it with a 20 round mag and has the same scopes and a lower fire rate, yet its one of the rarest guns in the game.
Yet the M4 is better in all situations so why take the LAR
If its gonna be as rare as it is it should also get a suppressor to make it a more viable choice same with the famas
The Aks are good they are fine the way they are same goes for the Sval and VSS
As they have their own benefits and all take common rounds attachments and suppressors along with the suppressor also fitting on the VDS

coffee is a good idea. and +10% is actually balanced. I also wish they add mentality stat. your mentality stats goes down if you are low on food or water, injured, sick or being cold. only pristine food increases your mentality stats significantly or smoking a cigarette. Other ways of increasing the mentality stats could be resting anywhere by laying down or around camp fire for speedy increase. The effects of low mentality stats is how much you drain your stamina and aim sway.
Also they should add an umbrella so i can dance in the rain with a porkpie hat on :D!
