Good news. The latest issue of Nick Spencer's run on Amazing Spider-Man aka Vol 5 Issue 73 had retconned the events of Sins Past. In a GENUINELY GOOD way, no less.
Unfortunately, there will come even more misunderstanding on who Gwen Stacy really is. Maybe Marvel really needs to grow a spin and take up actual responsibility.
Uhm i sorry to be the messenger of bad news but dan slott create or care about spider-gwen. It was jason latour and Robbi rodriguez. Dan slott and the higher ups in the spider department didn't belive in spider gwen and wanted to relgate her to only a one shot tie-in issue with slott wanting to push his creation cindy moon a.k.a. silk (the horny asian mary sue) and only then to praise spider gwen when her one shot sold extremely well (even rewriting part of spider verse to include her) and sidelined silk once she didn't make an impression even hated by spider-man readers.
@ULGROTHA it's kind of like the Deadpool dilemma. A creator either crafted a sue or just meh character; and other writers make the character actually interesting.
I wonder if the reason Peter mentions being able to use his spidersense to find the graves of his loved ones (specifically Gwen) is a kind of PTSD response? Like when he's near them the feelings of danger and stress he felt trying to rescue her come flooding back and make his senses act up?
that's not only an interesting idea, but EXTREMELY sad and heartbreaking like even his heightened super senses are still stuck in that one, awful, sickening day

Basically, Brad said some things about the CTC movement that made people upset, then he accused people in the movement of sending people to harass him and his family, despite people constantly saying they never sent anyone after him. TLDR: Brad basically alienated all of his friends by basically laughing at their bad experiences like they weren’t anything that bad and accusing them of things they didn’t do. +TF2Fan101 Pretty much. Yeah. And a lot of it seemed to be directed at Lupa, who has gone on record with texts that back up her claims against Brad. Unreasonably vicious and uncool lately.
As an actor, that opening scene really bothers me. Putting aside the idea that Mary Jane wouldn’t know the basics of acting, no director is going to take the time to do this at an audition. At a rehearsal? Maybe. Even a callback would be more plausible as that would at least indicate that they saw something promising in her performance and wanted a little extra push. But an audition? A director simply wouldn’t have the time, especially if were to believe that she was auditioning for a paid role. If an actor’s talent was such that a director felt they needed this level of coaching at an audition, they would thank them for their time and bring in the next actor.

I find the Mary Jane acting stuff in the beginning fairly interesting as it is basically purporting the Stanislasvsky method of drawing from ones past to enact emotion.

(Remembers what "Sin's Past" actually was about)
Me: ... can we go back to looking at Jelloman and Wobbly?
It took me a second to recognize the SFDebris cameo. Nice.
Always good to hear Chuck.
The first Modern (at the time) Spider-Man comic I ever read...
Yeah...
Woof. Sorry dude
Mine too. I feel your pain, friend.
My first one was ultimate Spiderman vol 2...
I was lucky
If Quesada didn't like the idea of this story so much, why didn't He just reject it? Why was it necessary to make Strazynski to turn his story in it? And Yes, in the plan Strazynski it was supposed to be the children of Peter.
mad respect to you calling out bradikan, even if you dont mention him by name. that guy sucks
who's bradikan and what did he do.
Yeah I wanna know too
@@youtube-kit9450 Brad Jones. The cinema snob.
@@youtube-kit9450 he insulted the change the channel folks for speaking out
@@MrGrimreaper512 Didn't know Brad Jones' nickname was Bradikan.
Congratulations linkara on 600 episodes.
That is quite an accomplishment.
Sorry you had to start on a somberish note with the Channel awesome Caligula bit but you gotta bury the past to move on to a more prosperous future.
Hopefully you, Snob, doug, Noah, and the others can move on with your lives.
Anyways. Been a fan of your for 10 years and I love your work.
God bless you Lewis.
A play called “Cats always lie”
GEE I wonder if Black Cat will be involved in this story some how (/sarcasm)
Meow! Cats 2019 in a nutshell.
She doesn't show up, actually. Might have appeared in an early draft of the story, but they realized this should be as short as possible.
@@Volvagia1927 Considering it's a story line that deals with a former girlfriend of Peter's that's a high probability. But I was still wrong, thanks for letting me know.
Teddy Furstman Definitely a missed opportunity for a Cats joke.
Fun note about the first comic being generic: you mentioned that it could be "on any comic cover, and it'd make sense." I actually had that comic cover as a poster. No text or anything, just the art. I had it for YEARS, like it must've been purchased right around when the comic released because I was young enough to not remember. I had it in my room for pretty much my whole childhood.
Today is the first time I've known it was a cover. I never suspected.
1:08 - 1:12 (Insert that Avatar The Last airbender meme with the guy with foam coming from his mouth in fangasming glory)
THIS IS GONNA HURT US! AND LINKARA!
His name is Foamy.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I knew what it would be... and I *just* got the memories good and repressed too.
Well this is one Sins of the past not even JMS or Spider-Man can't forget.
Wow, here I am thinking everyone wants to move on and so I feel bad every time I bring up the whole CA schism and Brad's willingness to alienate everyone just to be the one guy who stayed, and the first minute of this video is Lewis taking the most superbly epic potshot I've ever witnessed. God I love this show!
So whats the story with the intro
@Cody Carney Brad alienating everyone, probably...
I don't pay attention to CinemaSnob, I didn't really get into his stuff even in CA's heyday. I'm going to need greater context and detail for what went down.
NobodyC13 Lets just say Brad burned a lot of bridges especially after lying about the fact Aillsion swat his house a claim he zero proof of and Aillsion debunked.
@@laragallahue7127 i think initially he blamed her for harassment him and his family was getting from her fan base but don't quote me on that
God bless SFDebris for always bringing it when he cameos.
I find the Mary Jane acting stuff in the beginning fairly interesting as it is basically purporting the Stanislasvsky method of drawing from ones past to enact emotion. While it's a decent way to perform it has come under some scrutiny in the past 50 years or so for basically enabling one to constantly re-live past traumas. AKA Sins Past.
I don't know if that's what JMS meant here, but the parallel is intriguing.
0:34 This is actually sad. They used to be such friends but now...let's just say NC's not the only reviewer I don't watch anymore.
Who did that?
@@kyleshea384 Brad AKA Cinema Snob
@@Igarappappa What exactly did he do?
@@Shadethewolfy They made up a SWAT attempt and blamed it on Obscurus Lupa.
@@Igarappappa woof, that sucks... What an asshole.
Congratulations on the 600th episode linkara, seems like only yesterday it was the 500th episode, with futures end. Cant wait for episode 666 where you finally review something devil may cry related.
Oh I hope to God that comes true
Or 300. Maybe I'm silly, but I think 666 should be a Miller Time-episode.
666 might be a horror episode if an obvious choice
I Don't care WHAT it is;
I AIN'T WATCHING OR DOING ANYTHING RELATED TO THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST!!
Gotta say I love how Linkara just blindly picks Sins Past in a panic, only to realize he's in for another infamously bad Spider-Man book, that is pretty much Gwen Stacy's answer to One More Day (Sins Past assassinates Gwen Stacy's character the same way One More Day does to Peter Parker's with the deal with Mephistopho).
It also adds to the long list of bad things Norman Osborn has done, that end up hurting Peter.
The intro gag was pretty funny, I must admit.

Oh we’re going there aren’t we?
*Sees Linkara in a toga
Oh we're going there aren't we? ...good. Let 'im burn.
Linkara: awwwwwwwww . I hate one more day
Me ;HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
My favorite joke yet
That guy in the theater teaching Mary Jane to act is clearly Robert De Niro. O_O
WELP, at the time of this post Sins Past’s horrible implications are retconned…in a weird bizzare way that’ll leave you both surprised and unsurprised.
indeed
I quite like the more Mystical Lore JMS added to the Spider-Mythos, I just find the idea interesting that even though it's a legend steeped in spider gods and magical webs of life, Peter's powers are still a creation of science and yet he's one of the most important totems.
Would have worked better in a elseworld book in the vein of batman damned
Happy 600th episode to you ^^
I wish tons of happiness to you, Viga and your friends and loved ones and I thank you for being there!
