I've been listening to Debussy since I was a child and know his music well. Mr. Choi plays Debussy like no other, the way it was intended to be played - with feeling, passion and complete emotion. It is rare to be able to play such a complex Debussy piece with such superb technical skill, but exceedingly rare to play it with such perfect emotional subtlety. A true pleasure to hear you play sir.
I started playing because i loved debussy pieces so much. Not even two years later and I can play the first arabesque and clair de lune by memory and on tempo to my satisfaction. It is a lot of work but a pleasure and amazing.

My dad made me discover Debussy played by Alexis Weissenberg. I've listened to his interpretations my whole life, until I left the familial home (and my dad's discs). I heard many other interpretations on internet, but everytime it wasn't played by Weissenberg, I stopped after 30s. Too fast, too weak, never with these living emotions typical to Debussy. I've listened to yours until the very end, with this joyful melancholy I've been seeking for years. I'm glad someone is here to take up the torch and to give back their greatness to Debussy's compositions. Weissenberg would be proud !

ahh 2018... I was a 17 year old going through it. I was in a depression treatment facility for teens. I ended up meeting a girl named Claire and she became my friend through out my whole stay. Whenever we’d get the time we would talk. I’ll always remember this, we had a conversation about how she played the piano and how it would make her happy. I was fascinated but never peaked my interest for wanting to play. Fast forward some time I’m back at home happy as ever and came across a video game called “the evil within”. The Main theme song caught my attention and what confused me was how it put in a sad and happy feeling... I looked up the piece up on TH-cam and sure enough it was titled “Clair de lune”. (,:

Arabesque no 1 and Clair de Lune are so cliché. Everyone plays them and they have become boring. But when you play, and I really mean this, I hear the reasons they became cliché to begin with. Because they are two of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Thank you.
