I’ve been wanting an Enfield for a while now as I love the retro style mixed with modern features. I’ll be following along as I’ve done with your previous videos. Saturday mornings are back,!
Lol I lost my Saturday morning video mojo for a while but I'm super excited about this bike. I love the retro looks and bobberesk looks like you with the reliability! Can't wait to get into the videos Darren!
I have been taking a Desert Storm for about 20 days. For me, your videos are very informative and I'm trying to watch them all to get to know the bike better. I feel like a pupil learning the notions from his professor and who he will later put into practice. Thanks for what you do
My late old man rode old Enfields, triumphs, Bsa's on the same roads and I would think they sounded much the same. great vid mate. I am riding a Triumph but nothing like the old ones.keep up the good work.
Mate, "Thank you" for such a great video. I`m really looking forward to more of them... I didn`t realise you didn`t get the one in QLD and found Doug just down the road from where you live. Looking forward to more info on getting that back brake working better. Yes, the suspension on these things are surprisingly good. The torque on the 500 is so much more than a 350 and you can see this from your video. So glad you took Doug off road as these bikes are very capable off road for an on-road bike. I like the touch of the RE number plate on the front mudguard. Its funny how you named your bike Doug as I`ve named mine Dug-Dug!!! All the best... Mario Messina
It all happened really quickly so I lost one and got one in quick turn around. I had given up on the one in Launceston as he wanted too much but he got desperate as I needed another bike! I'm really looking forward to making videos about this great bike! Thanks for your support!
I love the pedestrian slasher look! I'm keen to a few gravel roads to see it but it does handle so well on and off road! Haha great minds with Doug and dug dug!!! 😁
I have a 2019, green and chrome. I never saw myself owning a bike like this. Now I could never see myself not owning this bike. I named mine Lusty, because that seemed to fit the character of the bike. I also have a Himalayan, which is also great at what it is designed for.
I have a RE 500 classic. It is in the light tan colour.. with dark brown leather seat and saddle bags, it looks really sharp. What a fun ride. I wanted a Chrome/black bike like yours, but they were nowhere to be found. Oh well. Well, today I had my RE 650 Interceptor delivered..in chrome and black.. same colour scheme as the 500... It looks amazing. It runs really well... smooth. quick. comfortable to ride... but it doesn't have as much personality as my 500 and it doesn't get the looks that my 500 does... interesting.
Oh wow, congrats on the 650 purchase that colour combo looks awesome. I think.your right the classic 500 have so much character, the 650 seem more inline with a triumph or Kawasaki w650 or w800. An amazing bike but just slightly less character. With that said you could easily ride across the country on a 650!!!
Gorgeous bike! Have you used the kick start yet?? Nice to see someone coming down through the gears properly instead of letting the revs drop to idle every change.
Thanks maye, i really love this bike! I have used the kick start and it does start easily but to be honest i use the button 99% of the time. It also sound great on decel! 😀👍 cheers
What a very nice looking bike. "Made like a Gun". This design was originally conceived when less that 30% of main roads were paved. So it's not surprising that it would do well on gravel. Love the chrome tank and it sounds awesome. If the speed limits weren't so high around me I would have an RE Continental in my garage. Congrats.
Thanks AZ, it suits our low speed roads well but if the flow of traffic was 120kmph plus etc it would struggle for sure. The military paint schemes are popular but I really love the chrome look! I'm looking forward to doing a few gravel sections!
If the speed of the traffic where I live was slower I would never have got rid of my Bullet but it just couldn't keep up. I really loved that bike but am riding a Moto Guzzi V7lll special now which keeps up easily and overtaking is not a chore. If I had the room I would have another RE as a second bike but for now the Guzzi suits me fine. Doug is a really lovely bike and will last a long time if looked after I am quite envious. Ride safe mate.
I just got back from the isle of man TT on my 2005 electra x, this bike gets you there and you will love the ride. I did not envy guys on the big superbikes at all
I just put a down payment to hold a 2020 Battle green Classic from a dealer 145 miles from our home in Southeastern Idaho. I'm going to complete the deal when we have arranged shipping because I do not want to run the new bike on the interstate with speeds of 75mph... not till shes run in (it's only got 10 miles on it). Regards.
Thanks so much for this! We're in the middle of a harsh Canadian winter and it helps to hear the sound of bike and be reminded of riding on warm summer days. Saw your piece on the 2018 as well. That's the one I own. He's called 'Bud'. I even wrote a song about him - soundcloud.com/brian-adolph/summer-of-bud. Thanks again!
It has so much character and the vibes are over stated imo by many people, i love just tootling along on it and having that 1950s feel. The sound is amazing!!! Thanks for watching!
Great video! I agree the back brake is not great, but I kind of think of that as a plus. ABS on the back brake as the new ones have, seems a waste. It's pretty hard to lock that puppy up! Look forward to catching up on this great series! I have named my bike Winston!
I've found spoiler alert for future video if you adjust the back brake correctly then make sure much that puts the pads evenly on the drum is adjusted it is better but still not amazing. I test ride an Euro 4 and and the back brake was better again!
I have a 2012. Added the cozy sidecar. Get a lot of waves and thumbs up. Retro look and easy to work on. Love it! Is it normal for small backfires when slowing down and downshifting.? I was told it might be running too leen. Fuel injected model.
Gorgeous road's , I ride a bit slower than you but I've got my eye out for fishing and camping spots all the time. Oh yeah plenty of torque, mine doesn't even know when it's fully loaded, makes no difference it just goes .loads of people moan about the Avon tyres but I can scrape the footpegs in the wet so I don't know what they are having a winge about. Mine have just come to the end of their life at 6 thousand miles , continental tkc80's for me next, as you said it's a trials bike, royal Enfield invented the swing arm so you could say the bullet is the world's first proper dirt bike too 😍 just bloody love it .
Tasmania has some of the best roads I've ridden, and little to no traffic! I find 100kmph a bit of a sweet spot for it! But I bet yours hauls a load easily with all the low down. It is surprisingly confident off road! Not sure I'd be able to get the avons here anyway but they seem great!
Sorry just so i dont sound negative, in melbourne traffic, surburbia im sure its an awesome bike, but for more highway and our hills it would be 500cc all the way for me! Good luck
i used to have a moil carbed cast iron electric start 2004 i think it was a black chrome i eventualy sold it moved to bigger better things but i miss moil sometimes
Hey, I have 2017 exact same colour and model enfield classic 500 ! I have been facing issues to go beyond 120km/hr because it doesn't pull after that also it starts to wobble. Can you please suggest what should I do to increase performance and solve the wobble. P.S. - Super inspired by your videos to start my own channel on my Dug ! Cheers.
Thanks, Heres 50 odd videos mate on what i did. I wouldnt do anything diferently if I started again. The Royal Enfield Adventures: th-cam.com/play/PLmVgB9c9_om0AGJrzIv3oOAzvEBUmWNWu.html
Beautiful Bike! Love it! in fact... I just ordered one 😁 and I can't bloody wait til it arrives! Quick question please... gonna be obvious ones i'm afraid, but which exhaust can/muffler are you running and where did you get that cool pedestrian slicer from? Can you provide links please. Many thanks, Steve
So many big name motorcycle reviewers knock these royal enfields they compare them with the latest super bikes l have the military 500 2019 model l love it it reminded me of a vintage bike who wants fast when your riding history yep l love mine too tas a joy to ride cheers
Hi again. What weight are you please? Only reason i ask is that 'dug' seems to fly up and over those hills easily. I tried a RE Himalayan this summer, really liked it but it was just a bit too under powered to live with. For me. I am quite heavy at about, ahem....115kg.
I’m chuffed and I’m a Brit! It’s now October 2020 and I’ve had my Pegasus 500 for the past couple of years; the first infernal (sic) combustion vehicle I’ve ever bought from new and I love it to bits! My other bike is an old Harley Ironhead, and I have to toss a coin for which one to ride. The Enfield normally wins as it always works! PS: As the 500 Classics have been discontinued, standby for them to appreciate. I’ll be hanging onto mine until the day I die. I’m in my 70s now and I hope to have it for another 20 years! PPS: Great video! Thanks, and best wishes from 🇬🇧🙃
I absolutely love how Doug sounds. Love that single cylinder exhaust note.
It does sound awesome! 😊👍

I own the same bike 🙋♂️. ABS addition. Totally love it. 6 months and have clocked 9000 kms already. Such a fun bike 🤩
Yes they are great fun for sure!
That bike is a work of art!
They are a beautiful bike and great fun to ride!
The motor sounds great!

Thanks mate, i also have a triumph speedmaster i love. We do have the best roads

Thanks mate!

C5 are a superb bike. I've only ridden a himalayan for a couple of minutes and it seemed great too!

Love your ride, such a nice machine. I just bought a 2nd hand continental 535 named it Ethyl.
The gt535 is a lovely looking machine, i hope you love it as much as i love my classic!

Very well said mate! Very true
That’s. Bike that makes you drool when you look at it. That’s a good thing! 😁
It is such a beautiful bike viper. And imho the chrome just makes it look even more amazing! It's a bucket list bike for me!
I just got back from the isle of man TT on my 2005 electra x, this bike gets you there and you will love the ride. I did not envy guys on the big superbikes at all

The bike looks great! I’m kind of tempted by the new 650 twin, but I don’t think it will replace my Tiger, and I only have room in my life for one!
No I agree I think it would be a second bike but they do look good. The classic is a lot of fun!
Hi, I am just down the road from you, think I will be looking for a RE, maybe a 350 but you may have convinced me that a 500 is the go.
TBH mate for our state i wouldnt be interested in a 350 personally, the extra torque of the 500 helps
@@iRidetas Thanks....let the search commence!
Sorry just so i dont sound negative, in melbourne traffic, surburbia im sure its an awesome bike, but for more highway and our hills it would be 500cc all the way for me! Good luck

Exactly. How can anyone compare this to anything of today. It has the " feels "
Put indori exhaust or long bottle you will love it
I really like my AEW goldstar 👍👍
How did you run it in? everything I've read says under 30mph for 300 miles and under 50mph for the next 1000 miles which seems ridiculous nowadays !
Hard run in
