    as an F/A-18 fighter pilot, I can tell you that the "F" in F/A-18 or F-15, stands for "Fighter" because it is a fighter aircraft. Be careful with your inaccuracies.

      Thank you for that fact!;
      But after seeing this and knowing they are the fastest animal on earth (240mph) I feel like falcons deserve this....

    I am a falconer and I tend to agree with the professional falconer statements in this video.
    Regarding the name of F-15 and F-18 jet fighters, I know for a fact that NASA was working with Hal Webster (Well-known falconer from Colorado) to capture peregrines, gyrfalcons and do experiments on the way wings were designed for flying and stooping of these jets early 80's.

    The letter designation of all military planes stands for what type of plane it is.
    F= fighter
    A= attack
    C= cargo
    X= experimental
    Y= prototype

    Good video and good information. I think that the generalization concerning "Hawks" was O.K. for the "Non Falconer", citing a Buteo type or possibly a parabuteo such as a Harris. BUT, quite different when taking in to account the accipiters (a sharpie or coop's primarily take feathered game.0 Gos will take rabbits or squirrels in the wild but they will also smoke a grouse, pheasant or the occasional duck. But for generalization, like I said, for a non-falconer your explanation was adequately stated. By the way, a good looking Peregrine!

    Could you give me some advice about red-tail hawks in California? A wonderful wild pair calls my farm near Sacramento home and are usually a blessing in that they eat ground squirrels and chase Eagles away from their territory. They have learned not to eat my chickens because my turkey hens will attack them. But food is scarce for them in this year's drought and they are trying to take my chickens (and risking injury to themselves from the turkeys). They had a chick this year who is now hunting for itself and I am so worried it is not getting enough wild prey. I want to setup an area at the far end of my farm where the red-tails' natural prey will be attracted and at a disadvantage when the hawks hunt them. I want to be sure these hawks have their natural food and survive this winter. I am looking for advice on how to do this - can you recommend someone or an organization to contact. I love these birds - please help.

      Haggards (mature, adult birds) are not taken for falconry because they are nature’s breeding stock and should be allowed to function as Such. Young birds of prey have more than 70% mortality rare before they reach breeding age. The consensus of falconers and regulators in the United States is that those birds that have survived to adulthood should be allowed to remain in the wild as part of the breeding population. Get a young bird Brother and help the Mother Nature.

    Not a very good example of training a falcon for falconry you’d have been better flushing those three pheasants under him with a pointer rather than have him hanging around for the lure.
