Not a calibration of the level measurement. Its a means of mapping out obstructions such as level switches, heating coils, nozzles, etc. Basically, if the transmitter is having a hard time tacking the level and it locks onto something other than the level you can use this mapping feature to teach the transmitter the inside of the tank. The way I do it is to take a measurement from the process connection down to the water level. I'll then do a manual map and tell the transmitter how far down I want to map. If the level is at 100 inches, I'll deduct 4 to 6 inches and enter 94 inches that I wish to map. This way I avoid from mapping out the actual level in the tank. From this point on the transmitter should avoid from locking on any of those false readings.
