Thanks Heken! Those mini landscapes turned out so beautiful! Great idea to turn them into cards. The recipient will surely appreciate it! Love your swatch folder! I have a similar one with rings, sonI can add pages in between. 😊
Your swatch folder is fab🤓🟨🟥🟪🟦🟩 Lovely idea to paint something simple, with no pressure attached, when feeling a tad blah or frazzled. Have tried some similar small seascapes today and it's definitely helped to 'lift' me a little so thank you for the great tip🙏🏼
My favorite are the two sunset pieces on the right (before you cut the paper). I think the added pink look and the orangeish colors really added something special to the sunsets. The cold press paper with the added texture really helped with the sun's reflection on the water, much more broken up vs the smoothness of the hot press paper. Either way, really enjoyed this video. Thank you for your art!
What a lovely simple exercise and they made such beautiful cards. I love the twisted kitchen towel tip for clouds it’s so effective. Will be giving this a try later.
I could not believe it when I saw the little pieces you were making. A few hours ago, I was doing the EXACT same little scenes in my sketchbook. The only difference? I added white gouache for waves, but didn’t add a sun. It is definitely relaxing and fun to paint that way sometimes instead of stressing about perfection or creating a masterpiece. You are soooo close to 10k subscribers!!
Thank you. Can you show us how you guillotine your paper for cards? I appreciate you showing us how you adhere them. I mostly paint to send cards, so this would be so useful to me. Xoxo Kimmie❤
I'm not sure I'll be making cards again soon, but basically I just decide if the painting is best suited to being landscape, portrait or square, then chop it roughly into that shape. I hold it up against the card blank of that shape, and just see where it needs trimming a bit. There's no measuring involved - I just quickly eye-ball it.
Remarkable how those scribble paints end up as such beautiful cards! Well done! And, a super idea for something I did back in summer & have been thinking of throwing out! Loads of varying colours & leaves on a big page. Thanks.
I tried leaving some gaps on each page, but I was balancing that with not running out of space. Now I know I've got pages free at the back of the album, I'll go and space them out a bit more.
Thanks! It's the box that came with Daniel Smith set I bought: www.jacksonsart.com/daniel-smith-watercolour-paint-stick-sets?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=4aecfbe5d21e3f7912bf8eb29124423a
Can you please tell me what the tin is that’s holding all your paint pans and if it has a cover? It looks like you have at least 30 full pans and your tin looks like it’s sturdy enough to hold them.
@nancywillette: Hi! I think the large tin she keeps her collection of Roman Szmal watercolor full pans held previously a 24, or 36 (or even bigger) color pencils set. She took the pencils out, put them in a pencil case and reused the empty tin to make a watercolor palette. Being metallic, you can glue a magnet to the bottom of each pan, or half pan, and have yourself a huge space for storing watercolors. The original color pencils tin comes with its own lid. Of course, Helen might have another answer for you, with her own solution. Anyway, I hope this helps. Cheers!
It's a bit hard to compare at the moment, as I only have one tube of Maimeri Blu, and I've only used it straight from the tube so far, whereas my W&M and Roman Szmal are pans. Initial thoughts though are that it's lovely quality - seems to mix and disperse easily, and have lovely clarity.
Lovely exercise, thanks for sharing

I'm so happy you did some too!!
What a great idea! They came out so nicely; it really makes a difference when you cut them down and taped them onto card. So pretty!
Thank you!
Thank you! 💗
All your scribbles always look lovely and I always enjoy a look through your swatch folder, it’s so satisfying ❤

That was fun and the results were great!
Thanks!
Love your palette swatches. I have the MaimeriBlu Payne's Grey and understand it is Vat Blue 1/PB66 synthetic indigo as is the ShinHan Indigo. :)
Thanks ever so much!

I'd laugh if no one else subscribed now!
Love this. Thank you. Will give it a go.
Great!

I would love to see that as well..
I would be putting green in the sea because it’s green here with a darker blue toward the horizon. Love the hazy skies .
Nice! Mine were definitely not based on reality - just whatever colours I fancied!
Thanks
Really enjoying your videos Helen
@@essjay2447 Thank you so much - how kind of you!! I'm really glad you enjoy them!
You have inspired me to this!
That's great!

Thanks! Sounds like your samples will make lovely cards!
Well, you have inspired me! I can do those, I've done them before. Thank you!
Yes you definitely can!!!
Perfect timing, just snuggling down.
I bought an album like this for my swatch cards and it is so much nicer than my last binder.
It's so enjoyable isn't it?!
I made a folder too,but now think,if I have a new color for the color group,I have to reorganize everything no matter if It's just one color😬
I tried leaving some gaps on each page, but I was balancing that with not running out of space. Now I know I've got pages free at the back of the album, I'll go and space them out a bit more.
Your art always looks so good! What was the container you used to hold your Daniel Smith Sticks at the start of the video?
Thanks! It's the box that came with Daniel Smith set I bought:

@pastelsgirl is correct! I used a 24 pencil tin. Here's a video on what I did:

According to Dr. Oto
Kano’s database, she lists that Maimeri Payne’s grey as Vat blue 1, if that helps.
Thank you!
How does MaimeriBlu compare to Roman Szmal and W&N?
It's a bit hard to compare at the moment, as I only have one tube of Maimeri Blu, and I've only used it straight from the tube so far, whereas my W&M and Roman Szmal are pans. Initial thoughts though are that it's lovely quality - seems to mix and disperse easily, and have lovely clarity.
