This is my first game room - where I have my gaming table and store my games on these shelves. This is my second game room. This one is for storing The Edge: Downfall.
Yes!!! I am so glad this was given a good review. This KS campaign changed so much for the better, and it was one of the most exciting campaigns I’ve backed! Great job, Dice Tower & Awaken Realms
Had a chance to play it .. on our channel we have a policy when compiling our Top 10 of the year that in order for games to show up on the list they would have to be made available to the public in Polish (we are from Poland) in that year ... and no matter what year the Polish version of Nemesis shows up it will be hard to beat for number 1 ... it's THAT good :)
That's one of the best things about Nemesis - it really is hard to compare it to other games. I guess the closes one to it would be Dead of Winter:Crossroads Game but mainly because of the "everyone has their own thing they need to achieve" thing. Nemesis is insanely thematic and immersive. You really feel like you're playing through the best Alien sequel to come out since ALIENS :)
My jaw hit the floor when I opened my box and saw how much was in there. I haven't read the rules yet but it's nice to hear that it's easy to play. There's so much stuff in the box!
Excuse me, to everyone that's saying no retail version's coming, in the kickstarter page they mention a retail version and they also mention retail prices for each box. Are we sure it's not coming to retail ?
As per Update #56 in the Kickstarter campaign - Distributors, Translations and Future of the Edge We have talked with many distributors and retailers over one year and after long discussions and planning we decided not to go with Edge to Retail. Reason is pretty simple - retail does not like that much huge (both in terms of content and price) games. This is perfect for some games, but not for such a huge undertaking as The Edge: Dawnfall. Main problem of standard distribution is optimization of product for this kind of sales channel. We were told too many times that game is simply too big for retail. We would had to decide to either split it, remove some parts or make new versions for retail and we really would not want to that.
Your best bet is either Ebay or bgg market. The company has confirmed no retail release a while back. They will be doing another Kickstarter down the road they said but no ETA as of yet. That would mean, if they kickstarted today, you would be probably be at least 12 to 18 months out to get a copy.
There might be KS reprint in q1 2019. Better buy 2x reprint KS edition than ebay for 400$. Since they do 2 waves thing and got base game+language edition ready it wouldn't take long to deliver base game in first wave delivery (3 months i guess) :P For impatient people there are tabletop simulator mods made by community members for the edge and rest of AR games.
They have all the gameplay mechanics down and files completed, if they did a reprint you would be able to get the game far faster than the original kickstarter due to no re-working the rules.
I will respectfully disagree. I think in a best case scenario you would get a reprint by xmas 2019. Here is why. Let’s say they announce the reprint kickstarter is coming. That would occur 30 days from now. The campaign would probably run 30 days. Then it goes to pledge manager phase which is typically at least 60 days. Then 90 days at least for production. The 60 days to get the product from the manufacturer to them for distribution, the typical boat travel time. Then 60 days of assembly and shipping to finally receive your game. Add them up and you get 330 days from today and thats with everything going well and on time which is much quicker for the reprint then the 2 plus years it took the first go around. I say wait if you can, but if you want it sooner rather than later, my 185 backed kickstarter projects of experience say that expecting this to reprint and be at your door within 1 year is very optimistic especially since it will not go through traditional retail distribution. It is possible but very unlikely.
Well they just launched the reprint, it's a 14 day affair, ends November 6. Expected delivery of November 2019, shuffling that to December for holiday shipping, 12-13 months isn't a terrible wait for a reprint. Also the reprint/war chest tier is cheaper than second hand by a margin, if you are willing to wait.
A lot better than IA Skirmish in my opinion. The factions and their units are very unique and interesting using the pre-built decks with even more diversity added when you build your own decks. One of the factions grows vines across the battlefield, and one mutates it units over the course of the game to name two of the more unique features. Squad activation and crystal gathering, changing modes, managing your hand - this game has a lot going for it. And all of this is handled surprisingly fast and smooth.
I'm curious about the same thing. The game looks neat but I fear that, as many other scirimish games these days, it's mainly designed for 2p and 3-4p is tacked on.
This plays a lot like BattleLore... not sure I’m ready to replace it though. BL does not have the campaign system mentioned here but it does have scenarios. Plus $200 :p
The creator of Neuroshima Hex, Michał Oracz, was one of the main designers of this game. It was one of the big reasons that I backed it in the first place.
I thought you might. But for anyone reading through the comments, I thought I would say. I absolutely love this game and do not regret getting it at all. Except I wish I would have gotten the Boss and Terrain cardboard pack. Maybe when they do the reprint kickstarter. :)
That's a valid point. I think it's one of the benefits that a KS reprint can have (if the game is not going to retail); the reviews are already out, so you know if the game is for you, so when a reprint is announced, you can begin to set aside funds, so that when the KS launches, you are in a better position to jump in(if that's something you want to do). Also, you have a pretty good idea what the game will cost.
After 4 games I'm convinced the seal of excellence is warranted!
This is my first game room - where I have my gaming table and store my games on these shelves. This is my second game room. This one is for storing The Edge: Downfall.
"the minis are a bit fragile". Later, "dice tower judgment. Excellent" as he smashes the minis with a mallet. LOL
Matt S damn bro spoilers
Hey Awaken Realms if you are reading, don't take too long with the KS reprint. ;)
The reprint KS will come in October :)
The Reprint just launched today, it's a 14 day project

Two seals of excellence in a row for Awaken Realms! First Lords of hellas and then this. Let's hope Nemesis is also great!
As a heavy KS backer of it, it pleases me to hear it ;)
Thanks Geek Factor! That's really high praise. I can't wait to receive Nemesis now!
Damn. That is some high praise. Any other games you could put on that list I guess to compare?

There is an upcoming second kickstarter in the works if people dont want to use second market and wait
there is no set date yet one of the guys from awaken realms stated that they will do another KS with expansion stuff and a second printing
october. fix some rules, new stuffs, cost a little bit more.
Nice! Awaken Realms are doing good work!
Lords of Hellas was awsome, and they were kinda behind This War of Mine, wich seems neeto.
My jaw hit the floor when I opened my box and saw how much was in there. I haven't read the rules yet but it's nice to hear that it's easy to play. There's so much stuff in the box!
Nice to hear that Summoner Wars still atop Tom's list of those style of games.
Big question. Is it worth it if you will just be playing solo?

+Yanik D'Aigle Thank you for the update ! That's a shame though, i liked what i saw in the video. :(
It's back on kickstarter now! So you can get it

KS reprints are usually much quicker to deliver.

Sounds like Imperial Assault Skirmish and Campaign thrown in, with a little of Rebellion Advanced Tactics Rules.

How does the game work with 3 or 4 players ? Everything seems to be focused around 1v1
I'm curious about the same thing. The game looks neat but I fear that, as many other scirimish games these days, it's mainly designed for 2p and 3-4p is tacked on.
You can also just buy one faction box. This is the big box 6 faction warchest.
This plays a lot like BattleLore... not sure I’m ready to replace it though. BL does not have the campaign system mentioned here but it does have scenarios. Plus $200 :p
But is it just a tactical combat game or is there any story to it?
It's based on a series of books, the Edge Chronicles.
What are "Great Cards" if these are but "Ok Cards"? No messing? I really wonder cuz I considered this cards pretty good.
How does this compare to MTG Arena of thePlaneswalkers?
Having played both, I'd say The Edge:Dawnfall is much better.
I have a question. It says this game plays with 4. In what fashion? Team vs team?
I wouldnt mind and all out brawl hehe
4 players can play teams or free for all. The game is mainly built around 1v1, but 3 and 4 player battles are still really good and lots of fun.
Thanks for the answer!
You are also able to do 2v2.
Sorry. I missed that he said teams on my first read. :)
Kickstarter for the reprint is Live!
Do anybody knows if it's possible to buy it?
You in the UK?

Looking at the comments I'm wondering: is this gonna get a retail release?
No
@@lhk890419 well crap. Okay, thnx dude!
Ahhh it hurts my brain when he hits the minis :)
Seeing all those things been droped in a pile without proper separation or clasification really hurts me, please avoid it in the future.
hmm i feel Neuroshima Hex in it:)

Too $$$$$$$$ to buy in Quebec for what it is. :(
Nice review. Terrible hat.
When you realize this game costs 200$. :/
this game cost me over $1000 canadian. worth every penny.... though I regret not getting the second warchest.
:P
To Rich for my blood. After all it is just another game with some silly minis.
I don't think it's much more than a game like Shadespire, if you factor in that you're getting 6 factions in the box.
