    I'm really impressed with how this came out. I backed this 28 years ago and now it's finally here.

    Great overview Matt! I can tell you put a lot of work into this - I feel like I got a very good sense of how the game works.

    I was SOOOOOOOO close to backing this but chickened out. Happy that such a beauty made it to “print” and arrived to backers! Grats!

      koomo801 well, if you’re still interested, keep an eye out. They’re going to make it available as soon as they can :)

      When this was first run, I chose Mythic Battles Pantheon over it, but I backed the reprint with no hesitation. Looking at getting it March-April of this year.

    Nice job. I'm a backer and have this game. As of now, I've only played one game by myself to get a feel and better understanding before I present it to the group. Thanks for this, looking forward to future videos for this game. Subscribed!

      Derek Ford thanks so much Derek, really glad you enjoyed it! Hope the game goes over well with your group, as you can see I’m certainly a fan! Thanks for the subscribe as well!

    Looks like a high quality game. At first I was thinking that it was a bit underwhelming, but then you started explaining some of the rules and I changed my mind. I look forward to seeing some game play (I do wonder how the victory points will work if you have more than two players though).

    • @boardgamereplay
      @boardgamereplay  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nym Alous glad to hear all of that, thanks! As far the victory points for multiplayer there are faction specific victory point tokens that are passed around instead of using the track. We’ll cover more of that in the future :)

      Still waiting for my copy but I'm quite anxious to receive it since everyone's been complaining about broken pieces due to the poor packaging. The minis move alot in the box and the cards and campaign books were put in unprotected causing the minis to rip the paper components and get broken themselves. Meanwhile the rule book is said to be a mess and the factions are unbalanced with the faceless being OP. This will be the last Awaken Realms game for me.

    • @boardgamereplay
      @boardgamereplay  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For what it's worth the package I received had just a simple broken arm and one model off of the base, so just a couple spots of glue was all it took. As for the rulebook, I had no major issues learning the game from it as we played. We missed a few details like the re-roll symbol on Squad cards but it's actually a pretty short rulebook.
      As for the faction balance, I'd argue most of those claims are premature. I'm not claiming it's perfectly balanced or anything but there's a lot to learn to play each faction optimally. I feel you could play 10 games with just Chapter vs. Demon and still be learning things from those games. Some of the factions, like Faceless or Chapter are definitely easier to play out of the gate too. Their basic play style is just more straightforward. Anyway, I could be totally wrong but that's just my opinion. My point is that a game like this has a lot to absorb!

    want to buy this... where? :(
    e: so do you have the warchest version (150$) and does it cointain every available content?
    whats the point of the dwanfall big box where u get all factions 2 times? is it just if u lose one or does it have actual gameplay implications (like you can have 2 times the same squad or you can have a mirror match)?
    i would appreciate some clarification, thank you!

    • @TractGildart
      @TractGildart 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dawnfall box and having two copies of each faction would mean being able to do stuff like field two Angel of Death, since you only get one per faction normally. Or being able to do a Chapter vs Chapter fight. Or something like that. I didn't think the dawnfall was worth it.

    • @DwarfyDoodad
      @DwarfyDoodad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Year old, but have to agree with TractGlidart. I did the reprint, and Warchest and Reborn vs Faceless were only options, War Chest is what this is, 1 of each of the factions. Dawnfall seems neat, and *theoretically* increases your options, but fielding two Angels of Death or Rangers or whatever is not worth the extra $300 IMO. There is more than enough in one faction plus SGs and whatever they do to expand it, since you only field 5 units anyway. At this point you aren't choosing 3. With the next project, it would probably be even more.
      So $300 on models you probably won't ever use outside of custom games/rules just to field two of the big units is...ehhhh. Best case you are spending $300 just to field two of the core box you only get one squad of, Rangers, Master of Elements, etc to minimize the handicap given to your opponent, which is still a waste of money.

    dude i want this, how much is it?

    • @boardgamereplay
      @boardgamereplay  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wilbert Collante I can’t say for sure what the price of everything shown here will be post-Kickstarter, but the pledge level for this package was around $200. Keep in mind that the Darkness expansion was included for “free” as a stretch goal as well. If I had to guess I’d say the regular price for everything here would be in the $250-300 range but again, it’s just a guess.
      If you look at the Kickstarter page here - www.kickstarter.com/projects/awakenrealms/the-edge-dawnfall it has the estimated MSRP costs of the various packages and expansions too.
      Hope that helps!

    People are asking $500 dollars for this?!! I'm sure it'll be fun, but not $500 dollars fun.

    • @boardgamereplay
      @boardgamereplay  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      algol291 yeah there’s definitely some Kickstarter markup happening there. It’s a game that was funded 2 years ago and is now just arriving to backers. Some pledge levels included extra copies of the game so it’s no surprise some people are flipping them. The pledge level for everything here was around $200 so I’d certainly wait to see what Awaken Realms charges for the final game instead of getting a marked up copy!

      Reprint just launched, the Warchest is $225 which is all 6 factions and SGs. The all in is something in the $400 dollar range

    Is facing used? Or only base touching counts?

    • @boardgamereplay
      @boardgamereplay  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Juan Pablo Zabala facing isn’t considered, just the actual size and position of the bases is all that matters.

    8:55 that boss mini with bent weapons.. you would expect they would spend a few $ more for better plastic for such a huge mini

  • @yakob8406
    @yakob8406 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    beautiful miniatures, but only that, there are very unbalanced features which makes it boring to play and becomes monotonous.
    I played it several times and I did not have fun in any of it due to the imbalance.

  • @garylangford6755
    @garylangford6755 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    8:42 all the weapons are bent. WTF is this a game that costs $230 or $5 army men?

    • @DwarfyDoodad
      @DwarfyDoodad 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You must have been the person who attempted to pledge and rag on the game and then duck out yesterday. Since you ran off after that you missed people calling you out, and pointing out that CMON doesn't do polearms because their plastic molding method causes brittle models that break easier than something with softer plastic. There are drawbacks to both sides, and some companies are experimenting with a mixed plastic blend, with the softer plastic for most of the mini but polearms getting hard plastic. However there is a problem with that, which goes into "The mini will still break" just with the weapon.
      This is the reality of plastics. Either you go for something that is durable, but you might need to hot water bath or take a hair dryer to once. Or you do what CMON does and go for bulky simple minis that won't have polearms or extended/thin protusions because their harder plastic is more brittle and prone to breaking, but you won't have to worry about an initial plastic cast being bent.
      But bottom line; Plastic has a tendency to soften and bend in heat. Injection molding -is- a high heat process. Your whining and trying to rag on this reads as trolling.
