I love how big of a deal this guy makes video quality in all of his videos. I personally don't mind whatsoever as long as I can see everything in the game and hear the music.
timing and marketing differences between the regions are my guess. from what i understand, the famicom was supported in japan until 2003. the nes was supported in the us until 1994. since the redesign was released in both regions in 1993, it was designed to be sustainable in japan but more of a last-ditch effort to sell more nes consoles at a cheaper price in the us.
relax. i got this when i was a kid back in 1993 and packed it up again just to make the video (as i did with all the other consoles featured in these videos). please consider not writing insulting comments to people you don't know.
The is version is also a no brainet if you have a vcr. I have an intellivision pluged into the rf in on my vcr and that plugs into the av on my tv. Works perfectly.
Not only is it more reliable, but since the pins are closer together, it straight up prevents a Game Genie from even being installed. You can't physically put a Game Genie into the RF NES (top loader).
Should have called it multi out, because you can hook a modulator to it, and use RF, only the original Famicom could only do RF (ironically the top loader NES was reverse, the original had multi output, but the redesign could only do RF).
what's funny about what you said about the Famicom AV being easily left on is that Utah in Megaman OVA was playing Megaman and left the Famicom on while asleep.
I don't think there is any such thing as the NES-002. The toploader model is the NES-101. But to answer your question, I have seen 72 to 60-pin converters and 60 to 72-pin converters floating around on eBay, so you should be able to do what you're trying to do.
lol that was a derp moment for me. NES-002... LOL thats my power supply. Yeah as long as those arn't the same converters I use to play the famicom games on my NES. I will see if I can find one like that. Love the AV famicom's design more compared to the US redesign.
unless you have reliability issues with your original nes, i'd just stick with that. the sound and picture quality between the original nes and famicom av are nearly identical. the poor picture quality of the nes 2 is due to rf output and the use of less metal shielding inside the unit. that was yet another cost-saving measure that had an unfortunate impact on performance.
There's one thing you didn't mention (and nobody else ever mentions either, for some reason). Can you use the NES AC adaptor on this Famicom AV console? That's what MY big concern is.
Hello friend, very nice collection, I can make you an inquiry. Could you help me with the measurements of the Nintendo Top Loader packaging box? saludos desde santiago de chile
I was saying that considering you don't have a converter but if you have a converter then yes you can! Just like you can play Famicom Games on a NES if you have a converter.
so..... are these region free?.... i heard AVGN say in a video the NES TOPLOADER plays anything but is this legit?.... and if so, is it also the case with the famicom 2?....
By it "plays anything" he meant it could play pirated games with no problem and european games because it didn't have a lockout chip. It still couldn't play famicom games because of different pins.
I cant stand using my NES-002 model. The lines that go across the screen are so annoying. My box NES doesn't do that, even with it's RF used the box NES has better quality graphics. Does anyone know if there is 60 to 72 pin converters for AV Famicoms. If so I would like to get an AV Famicom and play my American games with it using the converter.
Also, way towards the end of the nes era, nintendo released a nes 2 with av input, but it is very VERY rare, so good luck!
@@mxttspl yeah they did that in '94 and '95 i believe before the n64
0:03 hearing that is every guy's worst nightmare...

He's a hundred percent right the best thing about those Nintendo's is that they last forever if taken care of them

I played an AV Famicom at a convention in 2012 and it had the rectangular western NES controllers attached!
adultmoshifan87 Yes... AV!

Did I see a dog in the background? Maybe he wants a “dogbone”!
Hahaha
The dog the controller was a dog bone lol

Wait, no brainet? No brainer!
Oh my God,, I'd should've got the top loader one for Christmas since 1993. That would've been cooler than the regular one.
Besides it being a reissue, it was released because one of the redesigners saw A/V inputs on tvs, thus the name Famicom A/V and the A/V on the back.
OldSchoolAddict Yes hockups
They reissued some a/v top loaders if you sent yours in back in the day and those are very rare!
Gr8fulDead69 Yes ports
Nintendo of America, Goddamn you.
Not only is it more reliable, but since the pins are closer together, it straight up prevents a Game Genie from even being installed. You can't physically put a Game Genie into the RF NES (top loader).
Hasta que por fin conseguí una, gracias a ti por recomendarmela.
yes, the original nes controller is compatible with the famicom av and the nes 2.
Should have called it multi out, because you can hook a modulator to it, and use RF, only the original Famicom could only do RF (ironically the top loader NES was reverse, the original had multi output, but the redesign could only do RF).

Rosseen Glimmer Yes AV adapter
My only issue with the AV Famicom is the lack of a microphone
The Microphone is useless.
Unless you want to kill Pols Voices in Zelda.
I miss your videos!

I think the AV Famicom could use RF with an adapter to do it. I think it was an extra purchase.
lol that was a derp moment for me. NES-002... LOL thats my power supply. Yeah as long as those arn't the same converters I use to play the famicom games on my NES. I will see if I can find one like that. Love the AV famicom's design more compared to the US redesign.
the only way to improve the video on an NES toploader is by doing a clean AV mod to it
i think there was a version of the nes with AV but it rare
4:18 puedes tambien enganchar el Disk System de la anterior famicom pero con la famicom version de 1993 ?
unless you have reliability issues with your original nes, i'd just stick with that. the sound and picture quality between the original nes and famicom av are nearly identical. the poor picture quality of the nes 2 is due to rf output and the use of less metal shielding inside the unit. that was yet another cost-saving measure that had an unfortunate impact on performance.

my opinion is if you want an NES pick up the front loading one
Question is, why did Nintendo of America only use RF on the toploader?
Hello friend, very nice collection, I can make you an inquiry. Could you help me with the measurements of the Nintendo Top Loader packaging box? saludos desde santiago de chile
To the best of my knowledge, yes.
You forgot to say, "Unfortunately, no manga."
Great video m8.
The GPU unit inside of the Top Loader was the main guilty on those jail bars causing poor picture quality
Is there a microphone and speaker on the second controller for the famicom
Rulingtomax yes
Is there also a NES 2 for europe?
Yeah
@@Thewolfguys.cartoons2000 What? No, the NES Original was the only one in Europe.
@@all-stargamer3333 ok
Good Stuff!
will you do one with n64 or gamecube
Are you ready for the wiiu
in the U.S this was known as the toploader and these annoying vertical lines resulted in the video on one of these looking like crap in the U.S
video 5 of 5 will be n64
Can you play the U.S. Nes games on the famicom?
No you can't
Ultimatelegomaster73 Actually Le-Poney-Draconique is half right and half wrong, you can play US games but you need a 60-72 pin adapter.
I was saying that considering you don't have a converter but if you have a converter then yes you can! Just like you can play Famicom Games on a NES if you have a converter.
Le-Poney-Draconique Oh, okay, just wanted to point something out.
ULM73 The answer is YES, you can but for doing that, you really need an Famicom/NES adapter to play Famicom games on the NES Top loader, that is all.
so..... are these region free?.... i heard AVGN say in a video the NES TOPLOADER plays anything but is this legit?.... and if so, is it also the case with the famicom 2?....

joe411 but the only way to play Famicom Games is by the Famicom-NES Adapter wich one allows you to play Famicom games.
Skybolter That is literally what I just said.
