The funny thing is new York has to be covered in gold left by the glaciers from up north where there's tons of gold. I live on long island and find fine flower gold on the beaches.
I guess there is a law in NY that says the state owns all gold and silver found within it's borders on public or private lands. Leave it to NY.... the least free state in the union. :(
Build a Better World If they know. I love my creek. Not a big producer, but fun. Once you smelt it, they can’t tell where it comes from. No need to travel far. The coin shops take it!! Get wet buddy. Under those falls will hold some. Get a metal detector Got lunch money yet?
nice ,im in pa north east pa,do you think there is any gold here, ive looked some what but is to cold, and found nothing so far ,was thinking of selling my gear
joe18370 . I know it's 5 years late but PA has mineral rights. Pennsylvania does have gold you just need to know where to look do your homework. I can't express that enough. You could join the GPAA or the DMA. The GPAA has a map catalog that shows you state by state. Mines is in black and white but they're color now and a little bit more detailed for maps. But Pennsylvania you can stake gold claims you just need to know where. New York you cannot we have no mineral rights it's against the law to pan for gold private or state land.
Hey where you located.. i have a bluebowl i just got and a few sluices.. i have a few friends n would like to get up n do some panning n what not.... im in dunkirk..
I'm between Rochester and Buffalo, so LOTS of creeks to explore. I even have a pan from an Arizona friend. Might have to give this a shot if I get tired of metal detecting. Thanks for the vid.
hey so am I, how have ya made out with the western NY exploration...im thinking about getting into this prospecting thing (my wife and my sister tell me I need a hobby) I've got access to a bunch of shale bottom creeks with cracks and crevices for days around my county and a few in the southern tier area.
you find many turtle rocks around the streams where you look for gold? i live in western ny and look for turtle stones and often see black dust you guys talk about.
Find alot around Seneca lake in the finger lakes region, kashong creek south Of Geneva being one spot. Lots of places around the lake mainly where Devonian Period shale is exposed and washed out.
anyonethiscouldbe. It's against the law to pan for gold or Prospect for gold or minerals in New York. But I imagine there is gold along the Hudson and Mohawk River.
I actually know where there is gold in western NYS, some really old guy told us and he had kept it secret for most of his life. I went there to check it out and found flakes while panning but it was only trace amount (and that’s only because I don’t know how to pan properly). The problem is I don’t know what I’m doing. The old guy says he could do a half ounce a week back in the day. I own his sluice and gear but I don’t know how to use it or what geology to look for, I just have that location to myself.
i live in rochester ny is there any streams or any thing around there i could try to find gold in and i live next to a like stream going into a pond thts been there for about 100 years shoudl i try lokking for gold in the sand thts next to to
few years back we did use a honda dredge with a 5 hp that we packed into that same place where the falls is... we found about 35 pieces of glacier gold is all and no pickers.. One real nice fissure that was 2 inches across and 6 inches deep with black sand and many flakes is all.. im not sure if i believe there are pickers in western new york as i know a very avid gold hunter who has never found one but stories only.. good luck.
Keep up the search, I love the saying "Gold Is Where You Find It"... I look forward to some more videos this coming season. Good Luck and Happy Prospecting, May You Always Have A Flash In Your Pan...
Hey man, I'm in NJ too and I've been looking for rivers or whatever with gold in it but havent had any luck. Can you tell me anythign about where you found it?
exactly what you said i found rock that were brought here from other parts of the world . i have secrets to what to find or look for . glad to see someone that is finding it to some of my friends thought i was nuts til i had shown them how much i found and how
So I was thinking about panning for gold in a creek behind my house over the summer just as something to do, and maybe considering making a few bucks too. but anyways, I can see that panning is legal in new york state, but do you know of any towns or areas where it isnt legal, or any regulations for panning?
Doubt you will find any gold in New York, just the wrong geographical area for that. But to save time and effort, invest $3-500 for a decent metal detector. Most decent ones are waterproof for the first 12-18" too. Just an idea!
There's gold in NY. The politics of the state just discourage people from getting it. Technically all the minerals belong to the state, even if you own the land. No one is getting rich but there's enough to have a decent hobby if you know where to look and don't get caught.
@joe18370 Don't sell your equipment. You have a ton of creeks all around you. Look for several boulders close to each other in the creek and banks.Start at that point and work down stream. Jerry
i find gold in western new york a lot i know where and i find a lot of it so far in the last few years i found about 6oz just walking around the woods and creeks
Actually I live in Warren County , New York and i know few awsome places that you can get fair amounts of gold , I have panned and got decent amounts of color in my pan .. I have alot of fun , To answer a question about gold in Lake George , Ny , yes there is Gold there, I know a few places that you could get some really nice color and its close to the village of lake george...
i live in mid nj btw im 14 i found about 40$ worth of gold in a river near the woods ive been going there every day and i find like a couple dolars worth of gold
that is awesome i know exactly where you are i have lived here my whole life except cali for a bit and i know the area very well . i won't tell where you are though
hey jerry im close by if you ever want to get together i know a few spots south of you and i have equipment we should hook up im always looking for other prospectors and i can give you a few web sites to talk to others in our hobby.....rob
Although gold certainly does exist within New York, the state itself has an unusual law in place that reads that all gold and silver found within New York are property of the state. Unlike other states that allow private landowners and claim holders to mine on profitable mineral deposits, this silly law prevents that. Obviously, this has completely dampened any interest in any serious mining operations within New York, as the prospector would technically have no rights to the mineral. This is the case regardless of whether the discovery is made within a public forest, or on private property in your own back yard.
+Jim Popper Kinda like metal detecting within the city...in the parks..you have to register to metal detect, and report anything you find during the year...and they decide if its of value or if you can keep it..UNREAL...and you have to report everything you find in order to get next years permit..
Like everything else here...the gov has there hand in it..to me its a Communist run state...unreal...its amazing how they enforce the laws that are probley 150 years old, but will NOT listen to anything about the Constitution...and the right to bear arms..
@irishbreakfast you are definitely right I agree with u 100% sir I'm a fellow prospector here in ny and if I found a nugget of my own you bet your ass I'd be hanging into it the state doesn't pay our bills we do and we do what we gotta do to keep paying into this expensive ass state we live in
Thanks for the video. I'm from NY and trying to do as much research as possible on NY. Ty
Any luck yet? NY
The funny thing is new York has to be covered in gold left by the glaciers from up north where there's tons of gold. I live on long island and find fine flower gold on the beaches.
Glacier gold isn’t shit.. that’s why no cares for it like the rest of the states
Where are you?
who says that they have to know you found gold
That is why we find ALL our gold in PA or Mass. }
I guess there is a law in NY that says the state owns all gold and silver found within it's borders on public or private lands. Leave it to NY.... the least free state in the union. :(
I strongly Agree we need to get a Group of Miners Together and Protest so they can Change that old Law.
its unenforceable in court. if they even tried to claim it you could sue, its your land and you own everything on or under it.
Take it to PA and sell it there. That's what a lot of us do. Screw NY.
Build a Better World If they know. I love my creek. Not a big producer, but fun. Once you smelt it, they can’t tell where it comes from. No need to travel far. The coin shops take it!!
Get wet buddy. Under those falls will hold some. Get a metal detector
Got lunch money yet?
I'm sure that doesn't apply if you actually own the property though
nice ,im in pa north east pa,do you think there is any gold here, ive looked some what but is to cold, and found nothing so far ,was thinking of selling my gear

Have you ever run across or found any gold in the Adirondacks at all?
Glacier gold. Lower adirondacks and finger lake region might be ok.
If enough of us push, maybe we can get the laws changed. We just have to keep it so prospectors can do it, not big mining outfits.
you must have read new york state law PBL 82 keep all gold and silver on state land
Hey where you located.. i have a bluebowl i just got and a few sluices.. i have a few friends n would like to get up n do some panning n what not.... im in dunkirk..

Thats one of the reasons i do not like Blue colored pans. I dunno if its my eyes or what but i have trouble seeing gold with the blue pan.

Its actually illegal in nys every piece you find even if on your own property is technically property of nys
@@thomasreeves4628doubt they enforce it
4:14 I thought you found a huge nugget. Right in front of your feet on the ground
your off of ball rd. i live in dunkirk ny
You've just inspired me to buy a pan. Any gold I find with it whilst fishing will inspire me to do more.
