    4:10 That’s a perfect demonstration on why a tab washer is so important. It saved that nut from flying off, and a near disaster. I came in search of a video as I was trying to find out what to use to remove the recessed fixing in the middle, rear, but watching your video I realised mine isn’t recessed, it’s missing. I thought it was hidden as the cover is very tight and won’t budge so I assume a bit of corrosion. Your’s is a very nice example btw.

    Thanks for that, as a recent newbie to the Fazer I found it very informative. I am a lucky (old 74) boy as I got a 2002 with only 1800 miles on the clock. Love it.

    Excellent how-to diy (good angles, informative, etc). Thank you!
    PS: pity is, that you didn't continued with other videos alike, on the FZS...

    Thanks for the video. Helped me after the one on my bike came off, guess the "mechanic" who did the chain didn't do the job right.

    Axle nut is right on the right 👉 next to the sprocket. And it's torque down with 115nm. Why people don't like the 90nm on the sprocket? The addition of loctite is stated in repair manuals. So why don't do it like Yamaha tells you? They should know how it works.

    Good instruction. Thanks very much. What were Yamaha thinking though?!

    Thanks for your reply. This was a very helpful video. I may tap an 8mm bolt and washer to the end of to shaft for double safe keeping.

    great video, but I do think the front sprocket is not good and needed changing when this video was made, I hope you don't get the same rattle in few days after.

    Good job, well described. Thanks for putting this up. Do you know if that nut problem (too small) was only on the Fox-eye? I have a '99 box eye...

      I was just about to ask this, I am due to replace my chain and sprockets soon, so I will replace the nut for the bigger one if it's not already been done, I have a 2000 boxeye.

      What is your opinion on the fzs 1000? I have the 600 and I'm thinking on changing to the 1000 model. Is the 1000 as economical as the 600 on the fuel?

    • @Smudger96
      @Smudger96 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the 1000 and the same colour as this blue one. Mine is 2005 but in really decent condition. I've just done the front sprocket today as it happens.
      Loving the bike. It's a real power house of a machine.

    Hi Philip, very good informative Video and extremely useful but why the continuous use of the word basically ? You are a good explainer without the use :)

      Hi, thanks for the comment. I know what you mean about the word, I only realised when editing the video together. Makes me cringe when I here it now.

    How do you know if you need a new chain and sprockets

    • @davidupton3186
      @davidupton3186 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try to pull the chain off the rear sprocket. If there's a gap, your chain is worn out. Uneven wear, with tight spots is also a sign.

    Did U use 80 Nm torque ?? oryginal was 70 Nm and new nut 90Nm yes ??

    • @panthorfzs4479
      @panthorfzs4479  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ambero25 yeah I used 80 and checked a few times over the next 1000 miles and it didn’t budge. Up to you what you use though, I used to clean out the front sprocket casing after nearly every ride so was confident I would notice if it started to loosen.

    Lucky you, the nut on my 53 reg FZ6 Will. Not. Budge. I blame the design, why don't they just copy the Honda method?

    That front sprocket no good man it cracked in various of places

    • @panthorfzs4479
      @panthorfzs4479  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      DREADED VIRGO the cracking is not the actual sprocket it’s the sound dampening rubber, a lot of them crack and fall to pieces. Doesn’t matter as it’s not a vital part it just helps reduce sound and vibration. A lot of aftermarket sprockets won’t even have it on them.
