In my opinion I like traditional art more than digital. I mostly use only pencils and markers while drawing and maybe sometimes crayons if I’m bored. But I’m pretty sure that digital and traditional art are both amazing and wonderful!
I realized a couple days ago, when I bought my first sketchbook since getting my iPad; that a big reason I’ve not touched my traditional supplies is because of the “waste”. I need a lot of practice, I’ve been into art and creating my whole life but I’ve never been patient enough to get good, I’ve had plenty of sketchbooks and there’s only one that I can say wasn’t completely wasted. Since I’ve had my iPad I’ve improved on a lot, I can practice as much as I want, anywhere and any time. And I don’t feel guilty for making “bad” art because it’s not stuck permanently on a piece of paper. As well as just being motivated more because It’s helped me improve quicker. Obviously there are things you can’t learn digitally (for example I just bought gouache for the first time and it’s a bit intimidating) but in terms of learning how to use colors, drawing anatomy, perspective etc it’s great
That’s a big part of it for me too. I hate spending money on expensive quality art supplies and then making terrible works with them. With digital, there’s no wasted materials. I definitely wouldn’t have gotten as far as I am without digital practice.
I draw traditionally mostly but also I do digital. I prefer digital for colours becauee it is unlimited and I really can experience a lot of variations but with traditional, it is for me expensive to buy more markers (alcohol) or better crayons. I just use my pencils. I don't really get the fact that people think digital is "worse"
@aarantheartist I bought myself 18 promarkers in total. Som are rather light and less saturated however most of them are bright and defined. Before I got my matpad(Huawei tablet), I was mixing three colours to get the exact one i wanted lolll. I was so frustrated and my drawing returned to black and white or at leas had just one colour. And EXACTLY... If I buy every colour for example from ohuhu or wtv else that has quality would mak me go broke
Idk, it depends. Digital art is very expensive if you have to buy tablets or iPads and stuff. My iPad was over $600 xD But yeah, if you have an iPad or computer already, then it’s way cheaper than buying constant new sketchbooks and supplies :)
I get it but i also like the look and feel and even just sitting with a sketch book anywhere. Not every media suits everyone.. i just wish i had a working tablet again. A bit of digital might be nice sometimes.
Im very sorry i dont seem to understand why traditional art is weird to switch (back) to-? Could be since i am both digital and traditional that i can make that switch easier Your art is very cool though! Im still stuck in the manga/anime phase lol
@@aarantheartist ...and who said they didn't? thats why the post makes no sense. HOW exactly is it odd for somebody to say you can also draw traditionally if you want the traditional look?
How is it lazy, can you explain it to me? Because if I'm not mistaken, digital artists tend to spend the same amount of time on a digital art piece as any traditional artist would spend on their art piece, just because it's digital doesn't mean it's lazy. They're still coming up with ideas and then drawing things by hand. So please explain to me why you see it as lazy.
@honey_dew_melons there are numerous shortcuts, if you don't feel like making many braids you can make a brush out of it, if you don't feel like making a patchwork fabric pattern you can make a brush out of that, you make a mistake, just erase it out, you've been given a commission you don't feel like doing, trace it. You realise you could have done it in a better lighting, and the perspective is all wrong? No, you don't need to learn from your mistake, just change the contrast, can't even draw a plain CIRCLE, just use a stylus! Digital artists aren't real artists. I know 'nobody asked', but the only way I will ever acknowledge digital artists is if they can produce the same art on paper.
@mikasaquinn446 But you do Realize, that most digital artists start somewhere, right? They start as traditional artists and then become digital artists. Also, you're saying they just make a brush. The only way they can make a brush is if they draw what they need and then turn it into a brush so they would still need to create it first. Your argument is completely dumb in my opinion. Sure, digital art is much easier because there is an undo button and a lot of shortcuts that can make the drawing experience go faster but I hope you realize digital artists still take hours to draw what they want to draw and make their creations come to life, just like traditional artists, just because they have shortcuts and things that make it slightly easier doesn't change that. Also, tracing is bad in any form, especially if it's for a commission tracing is wrong. No digital artist is going to trace for a commission. And if they do, then that's on them and they're completely wrong for it. All art in any genre or form is art whether you believe it or not. The only art that isn't art is AI art. This is all coming from a person who does traditional and digital art.
An interesting argument. Let me point out that I show both my digital and traditional art in this video, so, I do both. There are certainly some shortcuts to digital art. But just because there are shortcuts, it doesn’t mean all digital artists use them. For example, I never use stamp brushes. I use default textured brushes. I’m also not convinced that digital art has shortcuts but traditional art is somehow, free from shortcuts? You can trace digitally, but I’m sure I don’t need to point out that traditional tracing is also an option. “Just use a stylus” to draw a circle is very odd advice, because a stylus is a drawing pen, such as the one you see in the video, and it does nothing other than make marks where you poke the tablet, just like a normal pen would. What you can do in digital is use a digital stamp to put down a perfect circle or something similar. But you know, in traditional you can just draw around a cup and get the same thing? Digital art has stamp brushes, but you can make stencils is traditional that serve the similar purpose. There are plenty of ways to take shortcuts with traditional art too.. it’s just a matter of whether you use them or not. For my part, I like drawing, in both forms, and I largely don’t rely on these kinds of tricks in my work. Not that I see anything wrong with it. I just don’t find it fun :).
@honey_dew_melons nah, I don't think digital art is real art and I am allowed to hold true to my opinion regardless of whatever you say. Its lazy, has no talent or skill involved and I ain't reading all that yapping. Your arguments are basically calling my points dumb LMAO. Go cry harder.
Yes traditional art is a reliable fall back, but there ain't no way I'm finding ALL of the colors I need in my marker bin.
Mixing colours is the most frustrating thing 😂 I just use pencil if I draw traditional!
FRRRR
AND THEN YOULL KEEP RUNNING OUT OF COLORS BC THEY DRY UP OR ARE ALL WORN OUT AND GOTTA REPEATEDLY GET NEW ONES 👺👺👺👺
I love your art!! Its so beautiful!!
Thank you so much!!
@aarantheartist It's really good!!!! 💗

As a traditional artist I must say, do whatever you enjoy more if it’s traditional great if it’s digital awesome. :)
I agree! :)
THAT LOOKS AMAZINGG ❤❤❤
Thank you friend 😊
Ahhhh❤ your art is so pretty!
You just got a new sub, your art is very beautiful
Good to have you 😊
YOUR ART IS SO GORGEOUS WHAT THE HELLLL
You’re very kind ☺️

i love the emma wadson / hermoine drawing ❤❤❤
My favourite traditional portrait, from back when I was doing more celeb stuff :)

This. Traditional colouring is so frustrating for me 😅 Getting all the colours can be pricey, and trying to mix colours is just.. well I can’t do it!

I have a handful of those markers. I’d never be able to afford a full set!
Still don't people that say stuff like that, art is still art regardless of media
Yup yup yup!
Ai
You don’t make anything with AI. It makes the thing you ask for. Calling AI an art medium is like calling ordering McDonald’s a form of cooking.
@@aarantheartist ai creates the art, not the human asking for it. Still an art form, just a sh!tty one
@UwUImTheo Idk, I guess it’s just semantics about what “art” means - which doesn’t matter. I agree with you that AI sucks 👍🏽
New sub. Its so pretty❤❤
Welcome!!😊😊
not everyone has the money for coloring supplies, which is why people tend to go for digital art :3

Even if the end product is similar, the feel is very different
they hate us cuz the aint us,, wish traditional art had lasso tool and undo button 😢
Sometimes when I’m drawing with pencil, I reach for the undo key and realise there isn’t one 😭😭
What are ur brush settings they are Devine!
If you have Procreate, check out the Tamar brush. It’s default in the painting section :). No special settings, just as it is its a cool brush.
You can want your art to look traditional but still prefer the techniques used in digital.
I only draw traditional way bc I can’t draw that good the digital way than how I do it normally ( traditional way)
It’s definitely different and takes some adjusting
I sketch most of my brainstorming on paper but when doing a full drawing it is a PAIN to ink because I use a glass pen. T-T
Ooo I’ve seen those cool glass pens but never used one!
That brush is pretty tho
And the art ofc
Ikr it’s a gorgeous brush. It’s called Tamar brush :)
No cuz its a better investment to buy digital packs and have them forever than keep having to replace expensive art supplies
Im very sorry i dont seem to understand why traditional art is weird to switch (back) to-? Could be since i am both digital and traditional that i can make that switch easier
Your art is very cool though! Im still stuck in the manga/anime phase lol
It’s not weird to switch back to at all! I love trad pencil work :)
thats not an odd thing to say tho?
I think she meant colours. If you want to buy better quality crayons or wtv else, then it will cost you some money. Digital is just colour picking
It is quite odd, because the majority of digital artists do draw traditionally as well, or have in the past.
@@aarantheartist ...and who said they didn't? thats why the post makes no sense. HOW exactly is it odd for somebody to say you can also draw traditionally if you want the traditional look?
But you could, and it'd be more impressive
Interesting. I think that’s a general feeling with non-artists. I might do more pencil work in future..
Its not odd at all, maybe you should take their advice. Digital art is lazy.
How is it lazy, can you explain it to me?
