- The lyrics sung in this Version are the 1924 lyrics, which is widely considered as "the lyrics to Giovinezza". However there are two more versions of this song. One with lyrics from 1922, and one With lyrics from 1943.

This song was taught by Italian officers to greek children in Zakynthos (Zante) to be sung by them in school ceremonies during the Italian occupation of the island (1941-1943). My grandfather was 8 years old back then. Although he didn't know and never learned Italian he still remembered every verse of the song accurately (in Italian) until he passed away last April.

His only mistake was idea of italianization. He was 100 percent correct on everything else. He should have been emperor of Europe instead of the two moustache men who caused the disaster we are in. My grandmother spend rest of her life after turning 20 taking care of her children until her departure in 1996. She was the last one. Her daughters were 'career oriented' just like females of modern Greece and Italy.

My relative was actually German soldier in ww2 and after the war he first escaped to Italy where he found Italian woman and later he escaped to Argentine. Then he had his own building company and his children are half german and half italian. His name was Felix Fritz

This symbol is not similar to the ones that other countries use in a different context. Fasci was the name of the Party created by Benito Mussolini. Fasci was the name of the Fascist party of Mussolinis movement - but it produced by visualization the history of their ideals.
Fasci were the roots of a plant or flower bundled together. This represented the Roman Law. Subject of this law were the subjugated countries and tribes of Europe and Africa during the Roman Empire. Roman Law had this as a symbol. This Roman Law Mussolini wanted re-established in Europe and Africa. Thus, Italy needed war and expansion to create this historical Roman Law. By taking over Ethiopia in 1936 he claimed Italy being the 2nd Roman Empire. Fasci the Roman Law descended over Italian East Africa (Eritrea, Ethiopia, Italian Somali Land).
In realty Benito Mussolini in a historical context was functioning as the Emperor of a 4th Rom.

Russia became the 3rd Rom. Mussolini agitated as Italian Emperor for Fasci=Roman Law to descent over Europe. Mussolini established the 4th Rom which ceased to exist as Mussolini was deposed on July/25/1943. A last attempt was made to regain the old territories by establishing an Army that fought on the side of the 3rd Reich. Army Group Italy (General Kesselring) Capitulated 1945. Fasci as an claim of Roman Law executed by Mussolinis Fascist idea died with Mussolini being shot by Partisans on April/28/1945.

This is crazy! My grandmother and her sisters were all born in Italy during the early days of Mussolini. They left for America, married men who actually fought in WWII against the Axis and raised American families. Fast forward 50 years later: Me and my brothers were watching a WW2 show on History, and my Grandmother and her sisters were in the room. Mussolini appears on the television, and all three, now in their 80's, roared and jumped to their feet and started singing this song. For a brief moment, these three women in their 80's were teenagers again and they were Saluting "El Duce". I'll never forget that as long as I live.
It was very strong and early learning moment about how powerful a grip that propaganda can have, and why its always the children who are targeted. As much as they loved America, they were always children of "El Duce"
