Great video… and for those who drink I have your total number of shots you gotta pour out 14 (-2 if you don’t count him only saying LB) XXL, if you’d be so kind as to pin so others wouldn’t have to scroll 10 years, that’d be awesome
@@XXLDUDEwas this quary footage filmed in a certain spot in Alabama? If so, I used to spend a good bit of time there. If not, it looks awfully similar.
Omg did the same thing in Iraq. In the vehicle I used the vest. In the prone used the alice pistol belt mags. Used a hydrostorm camelback in 03 04 tikrit iraq I didn't use the 88 but another vest just like it. It was awesome
@@SavageDoc45b Hey, how is the lbv 88 under night vision? I’ve been looking at different camo types under nods, and found out woodlands somehow show up as a different color it’s hard to explain
@eliasoliveira__ aw lawdy, let me ponder. It's been a hawt minute. The gear we had in the sandbox was made to be non reflective under night vision. I understand that reproductions/knock-offs do not have this property, and you could ruin this by starching your bdus too much. I don't recall any color change, tho.
@justsomeguy9700 I never had trouble with belts on my SAW. The only related problem was that the 200 round boxes were prone to coming loose, which is why I preferred the 100 round soft bags; and they made the saw easier to maneuver with.

As a USMC veteran, I stayed with ALICE all the way thrue my 2nd Enlistment, when coming home for good and going on camping, hunting, and hiking trips, I stayed with my 782 gear. Then a seen the LBV 88 vest a friend of mine pointed out to me at a flea market some years ago, it was complete with the vest, cartridge belt, butt Pack, two belt mag pouches, compass pouch two canteens canteen carriers and two cups, for $35 bucks, he told me to grab it up, I looked it over carefully and immediately seen its worth and use, it enhances the 782 gear. So yeah! I bought it. I also use the ALICE radiomans pack, it is smaller than the medium ALICE pack, but when on a three day outing / patrol, one doesn't need to carry a whole lot, but with that radioman's ALICE I can stretch to 9 days if need be. The water bladder can be placed in that space between you and your pack frame. My Dads best advice, " Stick with what you know how to use." That is just what I did and found LBV88 fits well within that realm. Excellent video XXlarge DUDE.
I ran one of these (vertical pockets) in El Salvador. Hot tip: Replace the shoulder pads which rub your neck with M1967 H-harness or similar. It sounds like it wouldn't work as well, but is far more comfy. FWIW, my go-to rig is a Dutch LBV with M1967 H-harness, using double USMC mag pouches. I run 6 mags plus a pistol in the 4th pouch. My only complaint is lack of MOLLE real estate at the top edge of the panel. There is a version that predates the FLC that was designed for Medics that has MOLLE webbing all the way up. Very hard to find. Other than that, very comfy, easy to get prone and work prone, good under movement.
@@ultimatetrex1999 Nothing special. It was actually an extended job interview. I was working alongside American advisors late in the war. It was a 2-way range, however. I had problems with the shoulder pads chafing my neck, and one of the advisors had me change them out for an old M1967 H-harness straps. I I'm afraid I can't be much more specific about what I was doing or who it was for because of NDAs. I swore I'd never go back, but I hear it's really nice these days - less crime than here. It is a very beautiful country.
Ran the LBV-88 back when I was in, I think we go them issued around 94. Basically ran the same setup, Butt pack, 2 canteens plus 2 of the ammo pouches. Used one of the frag pouches for my compass, and the other for face paint or whatever else I needed. Wore that over the old Flack jackets that really didn't do anything but make you sweet you a$$ off in the field. I still have my setup that I ran back then and still run it sometime. My go to lately has been the TAP chest rig with a few mods to it like changing out the harness to a H harness. Good video, MIl surplus is a great way to get gear on a budget, and it last as long as you take care of it.
🫡 first, thank you for your service! Second I really like the TAP with an H harness as well for more of a lighter rig or to wear in conjunction with a ruck. I feel the LBV88 is better suited for a 3-day Recon or assault. Both are excellent pieces of kit that won’t break the bank.
I have been using an ETLBV for about 5 years now. I take it camping. Have a buttpack, 2 canteens, IFAK, SAW pouch (for commonly used items), and extra ALICE mag pouch with grenade wings cut off. By itself, I can go overnight easy. Add a CFP90 Patrol Pack and I can go 3 days. Add a Medium ALICE pack and I go a week (do this once a year). The main issue is room for food. If I use my Large ALICE or add my MOLLE Sleep System carrier, I can extend that time to whatever I need. Remember, this is just for carrying the stuff you need. It is tough, works well if you know how to use it. Get out there and practice with whatever you have.
The version made by Blackhawk is the best version of this . The mag porches held 8 mags instead of six and it has more places to add more pouches on. Great kit
British PLCE gear is something you should look into. For $300 you can get a bomb proof belt with all the pouches you could need. You can also look into surplus PLCE if you're budget concious. Throw a chest rig over it and you can plus up on ammo easily.
@@XXLDUDE I'd suggest the Warrior Assault Systems patrol rig, Jayjays gen 4 webbing, again, they're making it in ranger green sometime at the end of the year, or go for the DZ rig.
You can also use 550 cord as mag lifters in the old 3 mag pouches but it makes it easier by cutting the dividers out. Just attach one end to the pouch, run it down the inside middle of the pouch and up the other side. Tie a good size knot to the end. Drop mags in then pull the 550 lifter cord to raise mags. I prefer putting 550 cord mag lifters on at least the middle mag of the pouch to give room to grab the other two after you lift the middle mag out. Cut straps of Velcro (both sides) about 1/2" wide and various length to make adjustable attachment straps to attach various items to your rig. Once you get the knack, you can make pistol mag and rifle mag carriers too. Use some bike and small car inner tube to make rings of rubber bands that also work to tighten your gear down. Great way to attach gear like a poncho to your gear by attaching the bands and slipping the gear in. You probably know you can use cable binders to replace the old digging in Alice clips. I use them to adjust a tight fit, cut off the extra length and melt it together. When you need replacement, just cut it off and replace. Much better. History is repeating it self with thoughts of adaptable rigs for jungle fighting, etc. As you can tell, I have been using the older gear. Cooler in hot times.
ALICE gear and the LBV-88/TLBV are great! Whats even better is that you can run a MOLLE/PLCE or MALICE belt with those vests as well. They're a great way to get into split rigs and chest rigs for cheap.
I added a Gerber brand camel back. The hydration bladder was formed not just a bag. The pouch had molle and o wove it through the h harness. I also took the pistol belt straps and turned them into fastec clips to attach a molle pistol belt, giving more use ability
This^^^ I’ve been looking at doing the same on the pistol belt for the LBV88 enhanced I have. Basically a way to plus up a pistol belt rig. That’s good info on the camelbak i definitely want to add a hydration bladder to my LBV88.
I managed to snag the elbv a few years ago. New old stock for about $30. 3 day patrol pack, used for the same. This is what I went with, since I already had a pistol belt, some pouches and canteens.
Good show. @ 8:52 1st pmag bottom down, 2nd pmag top down. Mo betta fit. @ 15:49 Draw a straight, vertical line down the center of your target. Now, draw two more vertical lines (straight also) 3 inches either side of the center. Put your rounds there. Anythings outside should not be considered a "hit" but a reminder to focus, relax, breathe, aim, squeeeze ... and do some more.
When I got to 3/8 back on the day I was issued one. I love them, add a cartridge belt with a buttock, canteens, and a saw pouch. Good to go for war. I used one up until Molle started to be issued.
If you can buy cheap surplus other than US, british PLCE is excellent belt kit, bit more comfy than ALICE. Especially with the hip pad protector (which itself is worthy thing to add to ALICE). Also, love how first put your hand in front of the muzzle to check the light in 3:34, only to then check the magazine is not present and chamber is empty. You could promote proper handling by doing this in opposite order, even that you probably knew there is nothing in the chamber when you put the hand on the other end (yeah, no hand is on the trigger, but it could still flip the safety and snag the trigger on something you are wearing, low probability but nasty consequences).
There are a few airsoft water camelbak-esque carriers you can easily attach to a rig like that. I have 2 mounted on the back of a RRV, one flat and one sack, and the sack one crushes flat to double as a pack if I decide to drop the 1 liter pouch and just run the flat 2 liter one. I also carry a 1 quart canteen on my battle belt to always have water on every line. Emersongear Tactical Vest Hydration Pouch 1.5L Condor 111030 Tactical Hiking Tidepool MOLLE Hydration Carrier They're cheap, have a good form factor that doesn't add much bulk, and they're STURDY. I have used the condor one in actual combat, and the emerson one... I haven't used it in combat, but I have done 10 mile and 20 mile rucks with it, with simulated combat movements, both full and crushed down, and it hasn't failed yet. If it can handle my abuse I am more than willing to vouch for it. I'm not at all kind to my gear.
I was running a lbve 88 for awhile. I had a m81 woodland butt pack. I put a mre, poncho, paracord, rifle cleaning kit, and 1 30 round mag. I had two canteen pouches with canteens and plenty of water purification tablets. 1 alice mag pouch which brought it up to 10 30 round mags. 2 10 round mags in a grenade pouch loaded with mk262. Other grenade pouch had a compass. I had a small ifak on the belt. I liked the idea of having the buttpack because if i ever get spereated from my main pack id still have something. I felt good with the setup other than wirh the buttpack im limited in what size packs i can carry. I went to a helikon tex chest rig which holds 8 mags and has two canteen pouches. Its ok i need more time with it
Great video. I love the aesthetic of the 80s and 90s US military gear, and frankly your set up will probably work better for guys with back injuries than a pure chest rig. By the way, in hot weather you are going to need far more than two canteens of water per three days, and even in cold weather you will go through probably four canteens a day. If you are just relaxing, you could get away with two canteens per day. If moving and fighting/hiking, you will need 4-5 and possibly more per day. I think it was expected that two canteens would get a soldier by for a half day. I did not serve in the military, but I was a fireman before going construction. Fighting fires, we would easily go through a gallon of water to drink in a couple hours. I once got a major heat injury fighting fire on a 110 degree day with high humidity and full sun and went through more water bottles + IV fluids than I could count. In construction- especially working on the roof or siding in the summer, its easy to drink well over a gallon. Better have extra water and filtration or iodine as well as rehydration salts. Remember when drinking a ton, you can wash out your electrolytes, not to mention that you will be losing them from sweating.
Oh yes 2qts of water is definitely not enough, hence why I was asking about modifying a camelback the integrate with the lbv. I’m blessed enough to live in an area that is plentiful of water though springs, creeks, and rivers. The downside is time it takes to purify.
@@XXLDUDE Yeah when I used to backpack, I kept a 2L or 3L bladder at the top of the pack inside the flap with the hose going down my left shoulder, and I kept probably 3 more liters in the pack. Sometimes more. Where I live there are drainage ditches for the farmer fields, and the occasional creeks but I dont think that water is clean enough to purify with the fertilizers and other runoff.
I love the (lbe,/lce). I still use a modified one with a butt pack,2 canteens, 2mag pouches with grenade pouches. I now own a grossfire rig in Vietnam tiger stripe.
Great video 👍🏻 I have the same LBV with the vertical pouches. Camelback made an M81 pattern bladder with removable shoulder straps which attaches nicely to the back side.
Bought my LBVE-88 for $25 & paired it with a Blackhawk reinforced duty belt -- Not to mention a few MOLLE pieces (AR mag pouches, dump pouch, pistol holster, IFAK, etc.). By far, it's the best (most comfortable) kit I've ever used, especially over the LBE I was issued in the Army. I agree that using STANAGS is definitely helpful (especially in the double mag pouches), but I also use my pmags no problem. That said, I did add ranger pulls to all my mags to make retrieval a bit easier, but it wasn't absolutely required
Gents… modern kit is great but it’s EXPENSIVE! if your getting started then look to the past. Older “milsurp” kit can carry you through that rainy day! LBV88’s, ALICE gear, Chicom chest rig, etc. you don’t have to have top of the line kit starting out. Budget kit can still be plenty dangerous and effective you just have to train with it as with any kit!
Gah you’re talking about unicorn stuff now. Even what the ranger body armor is going for now is crazy! 🫡 BHD was probably the best war movie in my adolescent life along with Saving Private Ryan.
@@Usmcar15682 it’s sickens me how much some of these “big names” cost once you buy the rig and the pouches etc. I’m sorry but if I dropped a grand on a full kit it’s had to justify sweating in it and putting the wear and tear in.
The original Amersh I built used the harness from an lbv88, removed the vest, and added a snap in chest rig. It's evolved since then, I ended up with a padded h harness and was able to rebuild the lbv88 as a buddy rig.
The LBV-88 (or, in my case, the LBV-88E) was the first vest that I bought for airsoft. Got it at a flea market for I think 25 bucks. I currently got mines with the training pack along with 2 canteens and 2 mag pouches. I love it and still do. I might get a dump pouch later so that I wouldn't have to fumble with putting the mag back into its pouch.
@@iredwolf9571 it’s a Tru Spec Tactical Response uniform (TRU) top in khaki! Keep an eye out for my new vid coming out this evening. Very similar combo.
I have used a lot of vests over the last 20 years. Tactical tailor, Blackhawk, hsp. I always find myself falling back onto my lbv 88. It just works. Its mission adaptable and balances and distributes weight. Best of all it’s inexpensive. I wish I could go back in time and just save my money that I spent on gear and just keep the LBV that was issued.
I wore this in the Army in the 90s. I used to wear a 2 quart canteen on my left hip and a 1 quart canteen on my right. This was before camalbaks were issued or even authorized. I also had a Saw pouch and 2 M16 pouches on the belt. Of course I had the standard butt pack as well.
Had this in bootcamp in 06. Got to SOI and they gave us the option of the LBV88 or the woodland flc. Of course I took the lbv88. Don’t chance what ain’t broken right? Except those damn Alice clips digging into your skin. Got a surpluses one now. Hard to beat it if you’re not armored. Great combo between a chest rig and belt kit. Just use zip ties instead of Alice clips.
I’ve got to get an FLC to try out. It just doesn’t look anywhere near as robust as the LBV88. Granted it was designed to be worn over armor. I just don’t see the FLC being able to comfortably carry a full load 30-50 pounds of gear.
@@XXLDUDE they’re not bad, they’re just meant to have a backpack instead of a buttpack. There a ton of ways you can set up the flc, to include reversing the belt and tuning it as a chest rig, or removing the belt and just using the belt itself, I’m in the process of taking the belt off an old on and rigging an old lbv88 shoulder straps to it to make a belt rig.
@@removerinnawoods8536 I wouldn’t trust Velcro. besides, for the price you could put 2 100lb test zip ties on each pouch. You can fit more if you’re really worried.
Not a bad video. I wore the LBE and LBV for 10ish years active. Both suck. The LBV wears a little better. But you get hot very easy. You should look into Condor gear. It's just as tough and about the same price.
Shoot it’s cheap enough to pick up another. I frequently seen them on sale for like $20 on the internet. Been seeing them here and there at flea markets too.
I still have my LBV around. Complete with ALICE belt my dad wore into Panama, ALICE accessories including the buttoack for good measure. Its a great piece of gear.
I have the Y harness as it was nostalgic from when i grew up in the 90s and it was the iconic look. I also have a 17$ chicom chest rig repro that i modified with clip buckles and i spray painted mine to subdue the crazy green and added inserts to fit AR mags better that i have that can be worn in conjunction with the Alice system for extra ammo and i can drop the cheat rig or the harness depending what situation im in. Its still super light and i can carry 12 mags and 2 more in a buttpack or 4 more in a 72hr pack
I still have my LBV-88, to include my LBE that was issued before the LBV-88 and the two resent issued ones. After I retired from the Army in 2014 I didn't have to turn them in CIF's loss my gain.
Brother, I got something a little bit more pricier but if you could find a good seamstress, someone who has a soul shop get some old-school go bags or duffel bags that’s that will be your material. You can have them cut the design out there most places, I know. They can make anything and I had made them and they’re very durable.
Been running two ALICE configurations for the past three-four years now. I absolutely love mine, not exactly the fastest thing but I love how lightweight it is. One with the LBV-88, the other one with M1956 suspenders. Nifty system despite being decades old.
I've always heard IF carrying for extended periods of time, you want the weight on your hips. The reason being chest rigs with that weight up front puts a lot of strain on your back.
@@Platos_Rave 100% that’s the beauty of this vs the taps or other chest rigs. You get a chest rig like ammo solution while basically still utilizing Alice kit harness set up. The shoulder pads are WAYYY more comfortable than the Alice suspenders, though.

Load-out will always depend on the goal and the area you are operating in. You’ll find you want to carry as least as possible but as much as necessary.
if you wanna modernize this rig, use a Ferro Bison belt with a Safe Life Defense inner belt instead of a USGI ALICE belt, and run all your high speed stuff off the belt.
So I just remembered a trick you can use. You know how to take your mags apart, right. Take a piece of 550 cord, cut it a figures length. Take the guts don't take them out. Tie a knot at each end. Don't tie a knot. Your going to make a loop with the 550 cord. Like the pmag bubber extractor. Rangers and a few other high speed units did it. You put both ends of the 550 cord under each side of the bottom plat. It makes a loop so you can use your finger to pull the mag. Sorry a little long winded.
Great video! Love the LBV88, the UBL on HSGI belt mounted tacos fits alice belts, have mine setup with two double decker tacos and a saudi contract Alice AK pouch, i can carry 12 30rd AR mags or 4 20s and 5 30s for an AK
I bought an elbv a year or so ago and run it with an MFH M81 drop leg holster attached to the belt because I'm just a bit impractical. Love the gear though
As cool as the LBV-88 or any variant of it is, and the lay out is great. The pouches and pockets are very dated. If you could take the foot print of the lbv with new pouches and pockets in it. That would be gold.
@XXLDUDE I found that out a few months ago cause in California we have that stupid 10 round mag limit for semiauto rifles and pistols. Keeps things more organized than just tossing mags in a gp pouch.
Bought a full ALICE kit to dress up like a character from a video game (metal gear solid anyone?) but was very happy to find it fit pretty well on me. I have yet to fully set it up and train with it however
“If you like the lbv 88, military surplus, or just expressing your 2nd amendment rights. Go ahead and hit that subscribe button” my only regret is that I can’t hit it 3 times in a row.
Me and my group have built up a few IARs (Individual Automatic Rifle) these ofcourse use binary triggers and bipod for mostlt prone shooting. I have been looking to build up what I am calling a Heavy Rifleman loadout . It is a chestrig / LBE hybrid . My biggest hurtle has been finding 40rd pouches. I have been told the Blackhawk Surefire 60rd pouches work . We are looking at a 200rd plus loadout as we have a former Marine who was deployed with an IAR M27. He said his loadout was like 240 rds that does include some in his rucksack.
I have an AMAP III running open top mag pouches inside on VERTX velcro panels, I have 20, 40 round Pmags in it. Open top with adjustable bungee are the best ones although Agilite also makes jump rated open top for Pmags which will retain 40s
I think you should make a video pros and cons of owning different calibers in the AR platform. Is Apple get the AR 45 the AR 9 and 15 and finally the DPMS AR308
Watch the movie ' clear and present danger ' perfect set up for jungle warfare, or even just a great minuteman kit. The lbv88, or alice is still great gear.
@@XXLDUDE lol really? They're going back to the tried and true belt and harness system? Probably has something to do with that ridiculous new rifle coming out. I think that is the biggest mistake the army has made since UCP. The brits , estonia, the Dutch, Greeks, Serbia, many countries use a belt and harness system, because it works! The alice system was perfect for sustainability in the field. Between your buttpack and large or medium alice ruck you could live out in the field for many days. Plus you weren't super bulky. That's the issue with today, reliance on having transportation.
@@vermontvermont9292 it’s literally modernized Alice. Basically the aforementioned “jungle kit” brand x makes that has some mods. th-cam.com/video/7_Mt8B3zLwE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QhS80MVRXOzLEHHa
To be absolutely realistic, all your LCE is supposed to be disposable. Spend less on your mag pouches and other BS, spend more on your firearm and body armor. Milsurp is king. Don't buy into all this name-brand crap. TH-cam guys can afford it because it's either given to them, or they are paid to promote it.
My thought exactly. You’re not gonna feel bad ditching $100ish kit vs $600+. The beauty also is you can set up different rigs for different situations.
I set up different rigs. I have M56 rigs, LBV88 rigs, surplus spec ops rigs with USMC harness, and then I have my expensive kits, I strictly search for Berry compliant 500D NIR pouches and refuse to buy any of the other stuff if I’m buying new
Gen 1 lbv88 is actually really nice, now i gotta say man alice is just getting way to expensive unfortunately if you dont know where to look, i advise using eagle or usmc gun belt with suspenders to make up modern molle belt kit on the cheap or using a surp gun belt with the lbv 88 to modernise it.
Ps using 200 rnd saw pouches all the way around makes it into brit belt kit, you should be paying no more than 5 a pop for each piece imo, definitely not more than 15 for the belt. Still keeps you under 50.
On average it takes about 14 soldiers to take out a foxhole with 2 men in it. A recent video surfaced out of Ukraine, soldiers had expended 400 rounds of ammo for 1 guy. That is the equivalent of 2 guys load outs going black/Winchester
Yes, I ran the LBV-88 enhanced when I was deployed in 04-05. I bought a surplus one but the only thing I'm looking for and if someone knows where I can find them the enhanced had these mesh extenders that you could lace into the sides. I've looked everywhere and can't find them if you can help I'd appreciate it.
It might be possible to run a molle belt pad (designs with more than 3 segments so you can weave them in and out selectively) on the LBV-88 if you need that compatibility, though I've only tested it on my pseudo-Alice gear, which works quite well.
Intentionally chose this lighter top for showcasing the LBV. I have many different color tops. We’ve been dealing with a drought in my area which has turned a lot of stuff brown lately.
Where did my jhone rig set up just to a point to my students yes I’m active depending on the store especially the old BDU wetland you can get it for under 200 bucks
You know a lot of the older BDUs and DCUs were NIR compliant and this was actual issued gear used pretty much at the time GEN III NV came on to the scene. So it could be. I have no way currently to test but best time I’m with my buddy that has a WP Gen III PVS 14 well light it up and see.
If/when jungle “stuff” happens again, the LBE/LBV type systems will be used again. If you haven’t been to SE Asia or spent time on some of the islands in the South Pacific…..in a word it suuuuucks. Body armor and just rigs will probably go away. You move so slowly in the jungle as it is and need a lot of water.
@@mattdavis9642 crazy you posted this just a couple days ago I watched a vid of the Rangers fielding a new kit that closely resembles an Alice harness kit but with Molle attachments.
@@XXLDUDE I believe we will see more and more equipment being used either being the same or very similar to what was used in Indochina/Vietnam. Adding weapons training will probably change as well. In the jungle there are no “frontlines”. The vegetation can be very thick, and very easy to be suprised walking up on bad guys who might be sneaking around as well, not having time to shoulder your weapon. Both in training and practice, is why you will see footage or pics, or talk to guys that shot from the hip. It’s just a completely different environment that affects people differently both mentally and physically.
@@XXLDUDE thank you so much! I was looking into the Cryes but then stumbled upon this video :) I even based one of my video game characters off the fit you had going on, m81 and everything!
I dont understand the advantage of an jungle rig compared to a plate carrier + backpack You can put all type of pouch on your plate carrier (and they will not beeing in your back so you can always reach it), you can put a camelback so you dont need canteen et if you want you can have ballistic protection. And its more compact
The problem with a Plate Carrier is in humid jungle like mountain environments it will burn you up and be unbearable. The hydration bladders will bust at the worst time. Also, wearing a backpack with a plate carrier for miles is miserable. The jungle style kits make it more comfortable and cooler while working better with a pack.
@@glvsplr1883 I’ll put it this way. If you know without a doubt there’s gonna be a gun fight, run a plate carrier. If you in vehicle ops for extended time wear a plate carrier. If you’re doing ops for recon or long movements through rough terrain while also trying to avoid enemy contact as much as possible, this kit is great for it. As such if you have a decent size pack you could always have a slick plate carrier packed away in it.
I don’t have hands on experience with the FLC yet but I’m about to pull the trigger on a rifle man kit. I’m building the channel right now and bringing attention to the gear and accessories and then we will do some fair comparison videos on their own. I have both and I couldn't get the flc to fit me very well. I'm 6'4" so for me the FLC sucks. I love my eLBV. It does a fantastic job of distributing the load and places the weight on your hips. I have no problems wearing it for a 10-12 hour day hiking. It's also easy to take off when youre taking a break and put back on when it's time to get moving again.

The butt pack looks saggy and bulky and uncomfortable and if quick mount or driving a car or motorcycle it looks like impractical if you ask me, if you asked me I would rather combine the 2 concept styles like the Grey man and Tactical style load out.
Pistol belt or battle belt: This will be my load out in my pistol belt, universal canvass pistol holster at right side 3 o clock, 2 canvass magazine pouch for pistol and rifle with velcro and plastic buckles left side 11 and 9 o clock, pouch for compass, multi tool, and lighters right front side 1 or 2 o clock, a machete sword hybrid (I do Filipino martial arts and I need a reach and chopping power in CQC) left side 10 o clock. Noticed I don't have a gear in rear or back part of my belt so I can combat roll, prone, side roll or do some what you called acrobatic combat stuffs. All gear in black color (Because Black is a neutral color, yup does not blend in mostly in environment but looks cool).
Pants: In my pure gray semi tactical pants a 2 rubber tourniquet or Israeli bandage in both near knee to leg pocket pouches, wallet and IDs at my rear pocket, android phone(With water proof casing) in my right shin near foot pocket pouch, in the left shin some throwing knives (I do throw knives), in knee insert in the pants a DIY kind of rubber foam with thickness of 1 centimeter (This will protect your knees and much more comfortable than the external version of knee pads, and it does not itch). Some misc items in my both pockets like biscuits, pouched drinks, or small towel.
Shirt: An ordinary cotton shirt and sleeveless probably light gray or navy blue or black.
Backpack: A 5 to 7 days backpack with molle attachments, thumbler pouch both sides (Can be used as an alternate arrow quivers), and compression straps to tighten and add gears like poncho liner or rain proof sweater jacket, the backpack is black in color, but can be attached with bungee net with DIY camo netting (It should be easy to attached and items should be accessible), an angle vietnam era torch in left side shoulder padded strap attached to the steel or plastic D-Ring. This is better than buttpack and much more practical and can be detached and access easily.
Head gear: A boonie hat probably black in color or a black ball cap like under armor brand (Can be attached with leaves and grasses).
A balaclava or face mask to avoid knowing your identity.
All of this stuff can be place back in a 5 to 7 days backpack, and it's like nothing and it's just like you were hiking or camping like a civilian.

Awesome! Good to know! I’ll have to experiment around with it. I know the 67 H harnesses are getting hard to come by.
The '67 suspenders are amazing once you cut off the extra hooks for the pre-ALICE combat pack. They should've never gone to the Y-harness.

Same here from 93-95 as an infantryman with 101st.
💯 sounds like your set up is well thought out and awesome!
The version made by Blackhawk is the best version of this . The mag porches held 8 mags instead of six and it has more places to add more pouches on. Great kit
It is! But man you can not find them anymore and when you do, they’re 2.5X the price of an issue LBV.
British PLCE gear is something you should look into. For $300 you can get a bomb proof belt with all the pouches you could need. You can also look into surplus PLCE if you're budget concious. Throw a chest rig over it and you can plus up on ammo easily.
We already have tons of belt webbing here in the US that's super cheap and available.
I’m looking at giving PLCE a try in the future.

It’s an excellent piece of kit for the money!
I’ve tried chest rigs and ended up going back to the LBE equipment but utilizing Condors harness and belt padding.
Nice. I got one of the LBE british versions with a alice belt. People underestimate surplus gear and get to wrapped up in the consumerism.

Thank you for the feed back. I will take note and give it a try.
When I got to 3/8 back on the day I was issued one. I love them, add a cartridge belt with a buttock, canteens, and a saw pouch. Good to go for war. I used one up until Molle started to be issued.
My 1st kit was a LBV-E. I got it on eBay about 11 years ago and still have it and use it time to time still.
I’m definitely gonna have to pick up a PLCE kit. Lots recommending it.
Brit PLCE is the most comfortable I've ever worn, 11B from 87 to 2000 so this gear was bread and butter, CFP90 etc.

Simple, practical, smooth, adaptable, blend, and cheap minded style.
I am planning to join the army reserves this year in my country, it will be 45 days training in the army.
Good info!
Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE.

I still use mine as well.
Sounds like you have it dialed in! Good to know on the mods!
They are but they do still work. I’m looking to incorporate a USMC fast
Mag pouch on my belt.
Just want to give another use for the grenade pouches, you can stuff probably a pair of 10 round magazines in there if needed.
That’s a good idea especially if you’re running an SPR with match or specialized ammo.
I have yet to fully set it up and train with it however
Snake eater!
“If you like the lbv 88, military surplus, or just expressing your 2nd amendment rights. Go ahead and hit that subscribe button” my only regret is that I can’t hit it 3 times in a row.
Got one for $15 when I was 10 for a Halloween costume and it went great, the costume was South American guerilla.
Have you tried the Army and USMC sustainment pouches? I don’t have a Pmag 40 but I’m may get one soon and see how it fits in the old alive saw pouch.
I have an AMAP III running open top mag pouches inside on VERTX velcro panels, I have 20, 40 round Pmags in it. Open top with adjustable bungee are the best ones although Agilite also makes jump rated open top for Pmags which will retain 40s
Another note, Beez combat medium GP pouch will hold the Pmag D60 drums
One more thing. I wear a slick plate carrier with my LBV right over it. It works great.
LBV was made to go over PASGT vest, remember that one?
I think you should make a video pros and cons of owning different calibers in the AR platform. Is Apple get the AR 45 the AR 9 and 15 and finally the DPMS AR308
It was also designed to fit over the Flak vest used at the time so you can wear body armor under it.
Watch the movie ' clear and present danger ' perfect set up for jungle warfare, or even just a great minuteman kit. The lbv88, or alice is still great gear.
@@vermontvermont9292 it 100% is. Even what the military is fielding now looks back to Alice and the LBV88.
I have M56 rigs, LBV88 rigs, surplus spec ops rigs with USMC harness, and then I have my expensive kits, I strictly search for Berry compliant 500D NIR pouches and refuse to buy any of the other stuff if I’m buying new
Great video bro
Thank you! 🙏
There was one with a zipper too. It was bomb. Haven’t been able to find one at all.
There’s also a grenadier version too that has 40mm pouches instead of mag pouches. I’ve seen quite a few variants.
I’m kicking around the idea of doing an eagle industries harness. Good info! 👍
Ps using 200 rnd saw pouches all the way around makes it into brit belt kit, you should be paying no more than 5 a pop for each piece imo, definitely not more than 15 for the belt. Still keeps you under 50.
@XXLDUDE the h harness is nice but try looking at the padded gun belts, some machine gunners actually molle 2 belts together to make it 4 wide.
I need to train in my ALICE gear more now
We must always be training.
Hey dude fancy seeing you here!
This basic set up ran well from Vietnam all the way through the late 90s
If you've done simulated combat, airsoft, paintball, laser tag. 1 encounter wil burn a ton of ammo. I'm sure it's the same for real life.
Good info to know. I’m looking to add a USMC fast mag pouch on the belt for speedier reloads.
Still the most comfortable piece of gear I own
💯
Ditto. LBV88 rules. Subd. HT
@@hangtough503 much appreciated! 🤘🏻
You also need the right color cloths for summer!!! Get some green cloths and not tan!
Love my Alice set up let's go ...
H harness with Alice belt is way more comfortable.
Idk the should pads on my LBV are much more robust and help with a heavier loadout.
Run thy alice brothers
😘
The lbv-88 doesnt fit me well since im bigger, i am lucky enough too run a.l.i.c.e. gear.
My guess is it’s not NIR compliant. Am I right?
Hi, what kind of top were you wearing? I’ve been looking for field tops for a while now
The top is a Tru Spec brand T.R.U. (Tactical Response Uniform) in khaki. It’s awesome they come in a multitude of solid colors and patterns.
@@XXLDUDE thank you so much! I was looking into the Cryes but then stumbled upon this video :) I even based one of my video game characters off the fit you had going on, m81 and everything!
Nice video
I dont understand the advantage of an jungle rig compared to a plate carrier + backpack
You can put all type of pouch on your plate carrier (and they will not beeing in your back so you can always reach it), you can put a camelback so you dont need canteen et if you want you can have ballistic protection. And its more compact
(im not english so i dont speak well)
The problem with a Plate Carrier is in humid jungle like mountain environments it will burn you up and be unbearable. The hydration bladders will bust at the worst time. Also, wearing a backpack with a plate carrier for miles is miserable. The jungle style kits make it more comfortable and cooler while working better with a pack.
@@XXLDUDE Oh ok, i understand more, thank for your answer
@@glvsplr1883 I’ll put it this way. If you know without a doubt there’s gonna be a gun fight, run a plate carrier. If you in vehicle ops for extended time wear a plate carrier.
If you’re doing ops for recon or long movements through rough terrain while also trying to avoid enemy contact as much as possible, this kit is great for it.
As such if you have a decent size pack you could always have a slick plate carrier packed away in it.
Your video must’ve drummed up some business cause these are out of stock at the moment. I think I may get one when I find one.
@@wildcat8598 check out sappersarmysurplus.com they have a few on hand!
look into the eagle H harness, it's very similar but takes molle
It’s in the list of kit to acquire and test. The caveat is it’s not as cost effective as the LBV88.
What would you say you prefer LBV-88 or the FLC?
I don’t have hands on experience with the FLC yet but I’m about to pull the trigger on a rifle man kit. I’m building the channel right now and bringing attention to the gear and accessories and then we will do some fair comparison videos on their own. I chose this route because you could get hour long videos that no one will watch vs overview
eview then Comparison. Buckle up for the ride!
Joker theme from batman lol
Does it not f*k though?
