Physical fitness should also go in the foundational level of pyramid. That needs to be said just as much as not jumping straight to NODs and stuff like that.
I agree with that. I see rather large people with kit that should at least get to the point of being able to make it several miles without being winded, but even so I see a lot of skinny Botkin types that yes can run sub 6 min miles but they couldn’t hike with a 40-50 pound ruck. I would say the Army’s basic standard for fitness would be a good goal, second thought maybe the standard they had 10 years ago.
@@lizardtoenails4632 if you are training start with about 10% of your body weight. If that’s too easy move to 15%. You eventually want to be comfortable with about 20% for training with every now and then moving to about 25%-30%.

From my perspective 7 mags is standard for ONE skirmish. If 7 mags is all you have, be prepared to tactically acquire more supplies, depending on what's lying around in Minecraft.
7 mags are a training loadout. In the Marines and in Afghanistan my squad and I carried 21 magazines. And enough bandoleers to refill every magazine. As a civilian you do not have the luxury of a re-supply dropping off a speedball. So better be prepared. Running LC2 deuce gear. I'd run the H-harness. It distributes weight better than the Y harness. I'd also run a Alice pack when running a belt setup. Because more modern packs will want to ride on your ass pack. You can get the updated shoulder pads that help out tremendously. I have both of my Large and Medium Alice rucks from the Marines. I modded them with the updated shoulder pads. I'd say 30 mags per rifle. And I'd have at least two rifles. And they'd be setup the same. If I were doing it from scratch. And knowing what I know. I'd buy two Colt 6920 Troopers. Or 6960's. Inexpensive duty grade weapons. Along with two TA110 ACOG's. The glass is expensive. But worth it. Then add a plate and RMR type dot. Now you have a rifle setup that can aim passive. Gives you magnification for distance and for close. Covering a lot of bases.
Thank you for the good info sir! 🫡 this is what I was trying to get at with people. I wouldn’t stack more than 7-8 mags on kit as most run chest rigs or carriers these days but I would have a 6 mag bandolier (or more depending on the situation). I think a lot of Minutemen could learn a lot for the USMC infantry field manual.
@XXLDUDE I have chest rigs too. Both are TAP's. I have two plate carrier setups. But for a person wanting to start out. LC2/Alice gear is a very inexpensive way to go. In particular for a patrol rig. Same with a LBV. Even though I really don't care for the LBV or FLC. The only problem is if you are running P-Mags or any non STANAG type magazines. I personally like the cotton ammo bandoleers for loading up magazines with. Lighter than the nylon ones. With the saftey pin you can make a makeshift chest rig from it if'n you think it's gonna get a little sporting. See all those Nam guys running bando's along with their belt rigs.
@@XXLDUDE The best thing the minuteman can learn from the USMC is what I was told as a young Lcpl. "If you want logistical support. Join the Army. WE Marines make due."~Can't remember who said it. But it's something I have lived by.
Sorry but I do not believe you, does not mean what you said was not true just I have a hard time believing you actually carried 1260 rounds of ammo or about 33-lbs of just ammo and if this was true you where vehicle based or your lower back must be screwed up. Historically speaking even the Lurps standard combat load was 140 rounds of 556 and a crapload of explosives.

Couple years ago I got caught in a regional storm and I was trapped for a week and none of my firepower was used or helped which was an eye opener. Firepower has a narrow area of when its needed but it really is the best tool for the job. When things are getting spicy I think its a couple mags are fine (keep in mind that being too overt too quick in this progression makes you a target by others). When things are pretty hot and you feel the need to have 7 or more magazines, you need to just leave that is way too dangerous. Within preparedness I think trash blasting the AR platform at close distance has taken too much of a front seat. Things that take way more precedent and WILL come for everyone is hygiene, one of the largest killers. Carefully think this one through do you have 550 cord and clothes pins and a washboard in your preps? What about thermal regulation? food? water? I think Mossburg 500 with small bird load, big bird load and Slugs with a pistol is as far as defense and weapons should go before working on the other areas that will come to your family.

Honestly with the CQB reticle it can serve both of those roles perfectly. After getting used to it and the larger outer “horseshoe” reticle is great for close quarters and even though magnified you can run both eyes open. Though, lately I find myself reaching more for my 10.5 with a Vortex Sparc II. Especially for closer quarters. If you have a bad stigmatism the PA prizm are pretty damn good for the money. It’s worth it. I never thought I’d like a 10.5 till I bought a PSA up off a buddy and I’ll be damned if it’s not close to my favorite right now. It definitely works out better with a suppressor length wise. The suppressor on a 16” gun just feels crazy long.
I try to be budget minded on the channel, and this is a valid question. It doesn’t hurt to have at least a training rifle that could serve as a back up. Spare parts are a thing too. Spare optic batteries, spare bolts, firing pins, and even trigger pins. Spare Optics can be hard to say because in a pinch you’re probably not going to be able to zero it which is why having back up irons and being able to use them is important.
