    In June I started to seriously look for options to replace my Diesel with a new car. Looking also into BEVs. So I started to watch some TH-cam videos ending up on Bjorns channel. In September I ordered an ID.3 - the car fits my purpose and is Bjorn approved 😀. On top I know many fantastic places in Norway. And if I chose to go there for vacation, I will easily find the chargers. Keep up the good work Bjorn.👍

      So good to know. Thanks for purchasing a EV instead of fossil fuel car and trying to improve the climate for all of us.
      And you do save money in longer TCO.

    You should contact his employer and offer yourself as the EV journalist for their publication and send them a link to your video of the same trip. With a fossil reporter trying to do EV reporting, its the "blind leading the the blind"

    Great comparison video. I am also so tired of many people saying it takes 1 hour to fill 100%.
    But they should only fill till 80%.
    Also for regular use it takes 5secs to fill fully at home. Because it takes 10 secs to plug it in evening.
    I have done a few road trips in my model 3 and most of times the car was ready before we were when taking break.
    While we searched on mobile phone for restaurants, car was charged to 70-80 mins.

    Cost wise the other point is that most people are not on a trip most of the time. The car is a commuter, a hauler, mostly used locally. Then the electricity used in domestic, just like your lighting and appliances which is far cheaper. In Israel the domestic KWH cost 50 cent NIS which is about 1.5 kroner. Half or a third of the same KwH on the road. assuming a thousand KM trip leaving the house full battery with 45 Kwh usable thats 300 km for 37 Kroner. So it calculates to far cheaper than gasoline or diesel . To say nothing of the pollution.

    probably at least in EU, we can say, it is already in most EU countries already cheaper (margin may vary) against diesel or petrol cars, many many times cheaper than regular (not only selfcharging) hybrids and PHEV's too... and you do not need to be in Norway, charging infrastructure is spreading too. It may not be as vast as in Norway but already usable in like 90% of cases.

      I didn't mention it in the video, but with NAF Xtra Mastercard, I can get additional 15 % discount on fast charging. And on that trip, I didn't enable 10 % discount on Circle K. So this trip was far from optimal as an EV even.
      And in the video I also talked about toll roads which nakfan100 didn't mention here. That's why I recommend you to watch the video to fully understand.

    If Frank Willeksen was a real journalist he should have done some research on EV-driving before making the trip. The calculations are a little stretched in favour of EV. Pretty much any newer Diesel car in this class consumes around 4-5l / 100km and the price of diesel in Norway is around 1.2 / 1.3 Eur/l. So it's about the same in terms of cost for a 1100km trip with only one fill-up.
    Anyway, great video! Would love to see a review of the Mazda MX-30 :D

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Incorrect. Drive the same route with a crossover over several mountains in that rainy weather and you won't get low numbers.

      @@bjornnyland I have a 10 year old 1.5 Diesel car (I want to switch to electric), but in summer I did 2500km with AC on and only on highway at 120km/h and in cities and still got under 5l/100km.

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Then try to drive that diesel on the same route I took. Remember that highest point of the journey was over 1000 meter over sea level. And I had two mountain crossings plus wet roads. Comparing it with flat highway in summer is irrelevant.
      The main disadvantage with fossil car (not PHEV) is that once you go up a mountain, you have to brake on the way down. The extra energy you wasted going uphill can't be regenerated.

    Diesel is still cheap in India as on today, it is just Rs.75/ltr i.e. kr 9.12/ltr
    For 1100 kms run considering average of 16.66 km/ltr i.e. 6 ltr/100km Indians would spend Rs.4951.5/- i.e. kr 575.68/-
    For 154kWh we would spend just Rs. 3080/- i.e. kr 358.09/-
    (Charging cost is Rs. 20/kWh higher side considered i.e. kr 2.33/kWh)
    So the difference in India between EV & Diesel for 1100 kms would come up to Rs. 1871.5/- i.e. kr 217.59/-
    Finally,
    Diesel comes to Rs. 4.5/km i.e. kr 0.52/km
    Electric comes to Rs. 2.8/km i.e. kr 0.32/km
    And like you Sir i haven't mentioned oil change & timing belt..haha

Home mowers and brush cutters too? Right now as an ev owner, and not a rich ev owner just a humble leaf owner, I see this as the biggest backward step of any nation on the earth, this to me says our politicians are in bed with big oil! In Germany it would have been 112,18€ electricity at Ionity (0,79€/kWh) and 65€ for Diesel (1,05€/l) at any fuel station. Plus don‘t forget your charging time which is also the time of your life, which you are losing. You can‘t put Norway all over Europe in terms of fuel prices, whether it’s electricity or diesel 😉

      I like the look of wind turbines. As long as they are all white. Some of the german wind turbines with the red stripes and the red lights are really ugly. Look industrial and ruins the landscape.
