I used to watch Summer School all the time when I was little but I haven't seen it in forever. I think I remember Kelly Jo Minter being in that one

My high school bestie and I used to rent all kinds of nonsense from the video store for our Friday night sleepovers. (It's kinda wild what kids used to be able to rent.) We watched this after a couple of other horror flicks and I remember us thinking it was kind of lame since they weren't showing any of the kills. Then when the ending happened we just thought the whole thing was corny. I think I gave it more of pass than it deserved because of the cast (which is indeed full of some B-/horror heavyweights of the 80s).

I really miss those days of going to the video store and picking movies and hoping for the best. Me and my cousin used to each go pick movie to see who could pick the scariest movie. Obviously there was no prize but it was a good time lol
Here is a bit of trivia about this movie that I found out. Apparently, there were about twenty to thirty minutes of footage that was either filmed or planned to be filmed that would have made the movie almost two hours long. These scenes would have occurred after the April Fools Day/celebrating scene.
The rumor had it that Muffy would have been killed off for real as the final twist by her twin brother Skip in order to get all the money.. but test audiences didn't like it and wanted a more fun/uplifting end... which is why the April Fool Day payback by Nan to Muffy was filmed. A way to give Muffy a bit of 'payback' for all that she had done.

One of my favorites since it came out. I saw it when I was 5and loved it since then. I watch it every April 1st about 3 or.4 times. Also a few times throughout the year. I've always hoped they had the original ending filmed which is supposed to be darker, but I don't believe footage exists. Here's to hoping.
The darker ending would have been awesome!
I remembered the first time I watched this film, I rented in blockbuster back when they only had VHS, and when the ending came, I was like, what in the hell, but it's an ending nobody would have expected
When she first ran into the formal room and everyone was just standing there ignoring her, I was so confused!!! I was hoping the reveal would have been that she was stuck in some sort of horror time loop. Now that would have been a cool ending
@@SistaGurlonFilms that ending would have been awesome, there is a movie called Nightmare City, it's about radioactive zombies, and that ending of that film would have been great, if they used it on April Fool's Day

I didn't watch this until I was grown and wasn't expecting that ending. It was funny but def not one that I revisit a lot lol.

I watched this a couple years ago for the first time and I was confused because I thought I was the only person that knew what was going to happen. I think this is one of the laziest twists to figure out in a movie…idk the title kind of tells you that it’s a prank and everyone’s ok and nobody died.
I saw a lot of reviews on the movie and every reviewer says the reveal was unexpected or they were like what?! Just shocked 😳

Another good April fools day 80s slasher is Slaughter High.
So I thought the movie would be about people being killed for real but under the guise of the murders being pranks but in the back of my mind I was hoping this movie wasn't about to be a myriad of fake kills. Welp, I was wrong 😂😂
Now that I've say with it for a while and basically watched it 3 times, I'm not so annoyed by the "twist". I did find it suspicious that none of the kills were actually shown but I just chalked it up to a censorship thing.

girl, when you describe looking at the cover of the film in a video store and your reaction to it. I thought the same when I first saw the cover. I thought the girls hair was cool too but the back side had me lose interest. (not gonna lie, I tried to make barbie's hair look like hers lol) and the image haunted me because I literally wanted to see the film years later, finally found it, saw it and loved it. I can't remember where Ive seen all the actors, but I know the girl who played Muffy was in wax works another horror movie (it was horrible acting, probably why she didn't return for the sequel lol) one of the cute actors the one who plays skip. That's Farrah Faucet's step son! and the blonde girl whose a sorta final girl at the end of the film she's from the Friday the 13th part 2 film. as for everyone else I can't remember I want to say the girl with the suit case of books was the alien love interest in the scifi series Alien nation, looks and sounds like her except she has hair.
If you would have successfully braided your Barbie's hair into a noose, you would have immediately been sent to talk to the nice lady in the office about the meaning of it 😂😂😂 Yet, it also would have been very impressive!

There was another horror comedy from the 80s called "Saturday the 14th" lol. I'm just not sure how good it was. I seem to recall having a hard time making it through that one 😂 I'm pretty sure it's on TH-cam though - full length.

This film probably killed their careers because they never became the stars that they coulda been as it was clearly an attempt to showcase them for the next level. The audience don't mind a twist but they don't like being played for fools.
That is probably what happened! With the exception of Biff, the rest of the cast did basically go into obscurity.
