I almost got jealous of your garden, then realized it was from last August! Phew! I cannot wait to see those blooms on my plant. I am so excited for spring!!
Absolutely beautiful plant. I picked one up a few weeks ago, with all the heat here in KY I put it under my patio umbrella until I found the perfect spot. Well now I'm afraid to move it from it's current "temporary" spot. It is truly loving this spot, the blooms are a brilliant pinkish almost coral color - it's stunning. I don't even want to take it out of the nursery container for fear it will shock. Can I leave it alone and transplant it into a larger pot later in the year? Thank you
I LOVE this hydrangea and want to buy but Im zone 9b. I'm still not understanding grow zones. I live North of San Francisco near the ocean so we get fog/marine layer. Average summer high is 65, and it doesnt usually get colder than freezing in winter. I dont get why something will grow in 8 but not zone 9b (unless we're not hot enough or the plant needs a freeze like peonies). Hydrangeas usually do well here. I just havent been able to find a good rationale re: zone 8 vs. 9 (of note zone 9 goes inland to summer temps as high as 110 and freezing temps in winter - this further confuses me). Can anyone explain ? Would so appreciate!
It may depend on where you live. In MI if we deadhead in August the only way we may get more blooms is if there was some new growth hiding in the plant that throughs up a bloom here or there.
Heidi, great informative clip. I am in 8b Austin. I have a place with dappled sun to protect from afternoon sun, but I've read you won't get as many blooms. Is that true?
Thankyou for asking. That is true, if you are getting just afternoon dappled sun, you probably wont get as many blooms. If you have a place with more direct sun for 4+ hours that would be better.
I just ordered 3 Fire Light Tidbits from you for my front flowerbed corner. What would you recommend as an annual to plant in front of them for year round color but also to accent the plant when in bloom?
Hi Heidi! I have ordered so many beautiful things from your company. And have a bunch more coming, so excited for spring delivery. 😊 I love the quality it’s so awesome!! I have a question since you know these hydrangeas a lot better than I do. I want to put a hydrangea standard in my front yard. It’s full sun Kansas 6b. I was thinking of quick fire or fire light standard tree. Which one will give the best show but still look nice going into fall? I just planted hydrangeas last fall but noticed they get kinda brown after blooming. Does quick fire look a little better in that sense? Also, has fall colored leaves. Can’t remember if the firelight has fall colored leaves. Thank you! ❤️
QuickFire is going to bloom the beginning of July where Fire Light blooms in August. SO it will depend on when you want your color. Personally, I would do Fire Light. Color from August until beginning of October or so. They really do not have that interesting of fall foliage. It is nice, but nothing like the red or orange that some plants may do.
I would suggest you plant Fire Light Tidbit. It is just like Fire Light, but a smaller version. It only gets 2-3ft tall and 3ft wide. We are currently sold out, but we just planted up more, so I would check our website in June. www.gardencrossings.com/product/hydrangea-fire-light-tidbit/

LOL. I wish it was August again now :)
@@gardencrossings Maybe not August; June is perfect. LOL
A gorgeous hydrangea, I cannot wait until the weather warms up.
This is one of my favs.

I always recommend planting as soon as you get it. Most people have a hard time watering enough to keep plants alive in the nursery pots.
Gorgeous day and gorgeous hydrangea! I don't have enough space anymore for this so I planted Firelight tidbit instead. 😊
That is a good switch off :)
I planted a fire light last year and can't wait until it looks like that!
Give it 1-2 years and it should be a good size.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
What kind of hydrangea is in the background?? Wow wow wow! So much beauty in this vid!
That is the Bobo Hydrangea.
Beautiful! I love it. I planted three Little Lime's last year and can't wait for them to bloom. Now I want Fire Light, too! lol
You can never have too many.
I think you have me convinced. That plant is so beautiful as us your entire garden! 🌸💗🌸
You will love it!
Can you turn this into a tree version or must that grooming take place in the early stages of life?
It should start at the early stages in its life.
Does this hydrangea bloom last of the hydrangeas? I heard that so I'm hoping it will do well where I plan to plant it.
It is one of the later ones to bloom.

So beautiful 😍. Question - If you deadhead the flowers in August (my flowers have turned from pink to brown), will there be more blooms?

Beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
How long did it take to get this full? I have a new planting and it’s maybe 4’ tall and not very full but assume over time it rounds
Usually it takes about 3-4 years from a gallon
Do you have this on drip? If so, do you mind sharing which emitters you use (gallons per hour) and how long you run them? So gorgeous!
I do not have it on drip. We have underground sprinkling that goes off every day.
@@gardencrossings thanks!

I am assuming you are in a warm climate if you are looking for a year round annual. I recommend Mini Vista Supertunias.

@@gardencrossings Okay, thank you for you for letting me know! Firelight is truly a beautiful show.
I love this hydrangea. But I have a small garden. Is it possible to size control and keep it small?
