I've never found bats scary before, and I'm putting it on the way this video was presented and edited. I imagined what it would've been like as a BBC Documentary and I wasn't scared anymore. Why can't you just show them for what they are instead of going along with myths and people's preconceived false notions about them? Y'know, bats drinking water shouldn't be portrayed as something creepy or scary. They're living creatures, they need to stay hydrated somehow! Even plants drink water. They don't hiss either. These bats chirp and squeak.Honestly, I'm glad I'm Welsh and not American because at least our media doesn't pull stupid stunts like this in animal documentaries.

In the defense of the show: if you saw one of these things flying at you you would probably freak out.

Fun Fact: Bats don't have wings at all, they are just loose folds of skin.

You know it’s videos like this that make ppl hate them, scared of them. By making them look evil. The sound effects and lighting. They are harmless mammals

Yes, they're part of the bat family. But they're also called flying foxes, due to their fox-like faces.

They are bats. They're just nicknamed "the flying fox bat" because they look like foxes (size, color, snout, etc.). The video calls them "flying foxes" to get more views.

Nat Geo why u tryna make them look scary they’re so sweet and silly! That hiss you added for effect? That scene was just a bat bein spooked and tryna look bigger. I asked a rescuer a long while ago and she said they don’t hiss at all!

The reds are only one type of flying fox. There are black, brown, gray headed and tube nosed. If you want to learn more I recommend Megebattie, Batzilla, Baby Bats and Buddies who are just three of the rescue/rehab TH-camrs who also educate their viewers on the importance of this species
