    How do you tell what electric braking your trailer has between the four options?
    Great information otherwise. Thumbs up!

      I believe that is going to be based on what you are towing. It would be better to check with the manufacturer of the trailer, etc. to get a more accurate answer. It's not something I feel knowledgeable enough about to give specific advice.

    Hi do I need to join Uconnect to make the trailer brakes work? Have a 2018 3500 Laramie bought used display says trailer not connected. I have a brand new trailer with elc/hyd disc brakes. All other lights of trailer work fine. Thanks

    • @prestonflanikensellscars9640
      @prestonflanikensellscars9640  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      +pgatos1 No. The trailer brake controller and the UConnect subscription program are two different things.

  • @pgatos1
    @pgatos1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok thanks do you have ideas to make it work? What to check for. Using towhaul &exhaust brake to help stop

    • @prestonflanikensellscars9640
      @prestonflanikensellscars9640  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      +pgatos1 If you have access to another trailer or truck, then hook up a different trailer to your truck or hook up your trailer to a different truck. That should help you figure out if the problem is with something on your truck or if it is something on your trailer.

    You can only see that trailer option on the screen if you have brake controller on your truck?

    • @prestonflanikensellscars9640
      @prestonflanikensellscars9640  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, a Mopar trailer brake. You can get one installed at a dealership and the service department can enable this screen to appear.

    Does a 2022 bighorn with the uconnect 3 5 inch display have that as well? I have a local dealer trying to put in a mopar trailer brake on it and it has that radio.

    • @prestonflanikensellscars9640
      @prestonflanikensellscars9640  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your question isn't easy to answer. Coming from the factory, then yes, the 5" display has a screen for trailer setups. You can designate the type of braking system the trailer uses (light electric, heavy electric, etc.) but I don't think that you can name the type of trailer. I also don't know if this screen will show up on the radio when a factory brake is installed at the dealership. If it doesn't show up right away, then be sure to ask them if they can turn this option on through the OBD port. I can't promise that you can turn the option on, but it is worth asking about.

      Set the gain based on your towing conditions. The gain should be set to a strength just below the trailer wheels locking up

    I bought a used 2020 Ram Classic that had the switch but didn’t come with the module to control the trailer break. I didn’t know at the time. So I bought the module and installed it myself. I got the dealership to program it for free. It shows up on the cluster but not on my Uconnect. I believe I have the Uconnect 4. How do I get it to show up on my Uconnect with the different trailer options?

    • @prestonflanikensellscars9640
      @prestonflanikensellscars9640  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joshk05 I'm not sure. I'd think that when the dealership programmed the trailer brake it would be something that they would enable. I had a customer that bought a 21 Ram, new body style, we added the trailer brake and the trailer options showed up on the radio. I've got a Classic body style truck, Uconnect 3 (8.4" screen) with the trailer brake from the factory. On my radio the trailer brake screen is in the settings on the radio. I can't choose a name for the trailer though.

      @@prestonflanikensellscars9640 I will look at it again when I get home from work to see if I just missed something in the settings. I did do some more research. Someone said in a forum that you may have to do an update on my UConnect and posted the website on how to do that. When I went to the website I could enter my vin number. When I did it said it was up to date. Do you think that it could still be the issue? I just think that the dealership didn’t care to turn that option on because I got them to program it for free. I could be wrong though.

      @@Joshk05 Hi, wondering if you find out the way to solve your problem。 Did you endup find the TRAILER BRAKE in your Uconnect? I have the 2021 1500 classic, just installed the brake control in the dealer shop. But was told that 2021 ram 1500 does not have it in the uconnect...

    how do you set the gain for the trailer you are towing?

    • @prestonflanikensellscars9640
      @prestonflanikensellscars9640  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At 4:03 in the video, you can see the trailer brake controller. Use the +/- buttons to adjust the gain.

      @@prestonflanikensellscars9640 how do you know where you want to be on gain is there a procedure you do to set your gain. I will be towing a 1995 Lance trailer with my 2020 Rebel.

    • @prestonflanikensellscars9640
      @prestonflanikensellscars9640  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can look on page 313 of the 2020 Ram Owner's Manual to find the proper procedure for setting the gain for your truck and trailer. Some of the steps (like choosing the type of trailer brake on your trailer) were covered in this video, but not actually using the manual brake control and gain buttons. I hope this helps.

      You can go to the Ram website, or download the Ram Toolbox App and access the owner's manual until your new one arrives.

    The bottom screw is the only screw you need to fasten. I've yet to see a video that shows the other screws actually screwed in. It's impossible. Do not know why Dodge designed it like that. No zip ties. Bottom screw and your done. Don't bother with the other 2.
