Just found you. I can openly say I am crushing on you so much! I love your work, I love your personality an especially your giving nature. Your willingness to share your talent to inspire others is very rare. It says a lot about the kind of person you are. I am adisabled, wheelchair user, and you have given me back a spark I never thought to have again. So Thank you so very much! I am enjoying your videos so much. Have spent the last 3 days obsessively watching your videos. I am so glad to have found your TH-cam channel.
@@backtoearthcreations I have been on a 10 year hitus from making jewelry and maille, I have to say Yvonne has been a godsend in getting me back up to speed on creating and getting my business back together. Thank you for teaching us.
I've been told a 30% "labor" charge (related to your parts expenses) is minimally appropriate. So selling a handmade piece that cost you $5 to make would be reasonable to sell for $15. YOU are an amazing artisan and awesome teacher. I love your mixed media "habits" haha because they provide us so many more tutorials! You rock girl!
It's really awesome to surprise customers with your prices. I started doing shows last December and one of my products was a simple wire wrapped bow stud earring that I sold for $6, the customers couldn't believe they were so inexpensive. I just sold a pair to a coworker and she said I could charge way more so at I show I just did I upped it to $8 people were STILL surprised they were so inexpensive.
You are such a sweetheart! I thank you for being so generous and sharing your ideas and experiences with us! I really wish you every success you certainly deserve it!
i used to have a cleaning service, also have a BA in biz mgmt, Ive mentored new start ups, I always say, you can be a master at your craft but if you dont know the business side, you could fail. this is invaluable! so this newbie is watching tutorials and these biz videos. much appreciated!
I just found you , and I am so grateful not only for all the information you have shared, but to make me believe in the human race, because now people don't share so open and sincere. Thank you!!
Oh my gosh, this is SO helpful! I'm not ready to make the jump to a booth but am seriously checking out how to do it. This "behind the scene, honest look" at how it's done from a business perspective is perfect. Thank you, thank you. I'm a firm believer if someone only has $20 to spend and they see something in a booth for $5, they think "hey, I can afford that and get change back."
You give real and great advice thank you for sharing your business.I see people showing you spreadsheets and formulas that they mean nothing to real business at the light at the end of the day. This video is great. 10 years is amazing. Congratulations and thank you for sharing
So informative! I just started making jewelry about 2 years ago and have just started really selling in the last year. This video is extremely helpful, for a beginner like myself. Thank you for everything you do.
Loved this video. I am amazed that you can price earrings at $5. Mine are $12-25, but then they have semiprecious stones in them like rose quartz or sodalite. I like Swarovski crystals, too.
you amaze me every time I watch you. it seems you share exactly what I need. I'm so impressed w/ your - your style and everything. I used to do craft fairs & biker events or fairs etc..... So much work..... I also did shops on consignments etc........... Too funny I used an isle w/ a cork board lined w/ blk velvet, also got shadow boxes, painted black and lined in velvet etc etc......... Now I'm almost 60 and craft for the enjoyment & gift giving I've thought about building up some inventory and putting up a web of but I work full time too. You keep doing you boo, your awesome!!!!!
You have to be the sweetest person I've seen on here. I am just not a comment leaver, but I just loved your personality and spirit about you. And this video was so helpful! thank you!
Your tutorials are so great and you are just about the cutest thing ever. Not all your things are my style but they give so many ideas. Thank you so much for the help and the smiles for a hermit. ..
Thank you so much😍 I am a disabled 55yo gma, and starting to get into polymer clay and ending up in jewelry , lol so far only able to invest $10-$20 a month in supplys, after my roomate got me my 1st packs of clay,my pasta machine, and my clay oven😍😍😍 I study tortureals the past 8 months ,you are on my top 5 list of becoming a patron 😆 with . Again thank you for the inspiration, and incouragement ,love your future patron Roberta😇
You are such an inspiration to me. You have given me the courage to try to start my own business. Unfortunately I can really only sell online since I am a college student and can't travel, but I love watching how you work and gain the confidence that I can one day live doing what I love. Thank you for all that you do
Thank you for this video. It was very informative and I love your attitude 😁💖 and cheerful manner. I'm sure that also goes a long way toward making your sales! God bless you my dear!!
I just came across your video because I am looking at making jewelry as something to do in my retirement. I can tell (and I'm sure anyone else can) that you have excellent experience and a good head for business. I found your video entertaining as well as very helpful. You talked about things I didn't even think of (organza gift bags and displays). I wish you continued success in whatever you do. Thank you and keep up the good work.
I am just thinking about entering into the jewelry making business. This video was superb as it lowered some of my new anxiety coming from a million questions about how the whole thing works. You gave so many fine tips, not the least was the "prooF" idea of how to show someone bought your items or simply was walking off with them. That has been weighing on my mind since the beginning. Thank you so much, Yvonne. You are such a "real" person, with such a natural, kind, and knowledgeable representational style. Again, thanks from a real novice.
I really, really love your videos! This one brings me back. I'm one of those people that crafts in sterling silver, lol! I used to go on the road and sell during the spring, summer, and fall, and return home to do a couple of Xmas shows, then take a contract job for the rest of the winter. I'd also use winter to clean up my gear, replace worn out things, and make, make, make. I remember the first shows when I was sleeping in my van, then in my tent (I did a LOT of outdoor shows and practitioner festivals), and then I got a popup camper trailer. I LOVED it, I loved the lifestyle, being able to be creative and see people appreciate it. I made custom jewelry at festivals themselves, I had such a blast. I used the same bag strategy, too-I had distinctive ones. I could never sell $5 earrings, though - they just don't move for me. Earrings in general don't, unless they're part of a 3-piece set. I have no idea why, perhaps my customers thought they were too inexpensive at most of my venues. I've sold a few, but they were not moneymakers for me. Usually anything around the $20 pricepoint was my bread-and-butter. I broke my back in 2005, and stopped vending altogether except for a few pieces left in my Etsy store. I'm just over a 5-year period of homelessness due to disability, and the only things I managed to keep through it all after losing my house, relationship, pets and all belongings, is my jewelry equipment and bead stash. And some yarn, I love to crochet. Thanks for being an inspiration to get back to work. I'd love to do shows again, which is a possibility if I stay local - can't do the long drives anymore. First time in a long time that I've been hopeful for the future instead of looking at the past and missing it.
TheCrystalCrow Hi Crystal Crow. Your positive attitude is great even with all the hardships you have been through. God has a plan for us all. He doesn’t let anything go to waste, including the hardships we suffer. When going through trials and tribulations of life, we cannot see the forest for the trees. But at some point in your future life, you will look back at this difficult time and see the positive impact it made in your life. Keep the hope and faith. Good things are around the corner. : )
If there is anything we can do to help you get back to work and a better life style, please let me know. I always do my best to support others. I, myself am disabled so I can totally understand where you are coming from on a lot of what you shared.
Thanks, @AaronRamsby ! If you could share around my Etsy store or any of my listings, that would be great! I'm still at zero income (still don't have disability yet) so the only way I can pay for anything is by selling what I've got listed, and nothing's moved for awhile. I just put some dragonscale gloves up, I've been selling those through my Twitter and Facebook page, but that seems to have dried up for now. Any sharing you can do would be so helpful! My shop is www.etsy.com/shop/TheRealCrystalCrow Thanks again :)
TheCrystalCrow you can do it. You sound like a strong willed, good natured person. You inspire others. Hope you can keep your talent going and sharing it with others.
Loved your video. A few years ago I tried selling, did okay but nothing great. You surprised me by hitting on some of my mistakes -- mostly display. Thank you for taking time to show us different ways to work and attract the public.
You've got a great personality and a soft voice, both make for a great video. Very calming and easy to follow and listen to. Some people play distracting music in the background; say the same thing over and over throughout the video like "I do it because I can," to the point you where I just click out of the video; talk too fast; leave info out; or they're disorganized and not prepared. Your video gave me everything I needed to know in a format easy to follow along with. Thanks - appreciate the time you took to put this video together:)
This was an extremely informative and realistic video. You tell it like it is but with a positive attitude. Really enjoyed listening to your experiences. By the way, I love your art pieces.
This is the first time I watch any of your videos. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this information. And your story that you have been doing this for ten years! I am just starting out and understand that I am going into a very steep learning curve.... Thanks for the info and your enthusiasm.
You are so gifted in your jewelry making. Please let people know that you have to incorporate the price of traveling, hotels, gas and very important and the fees you have to pay to sell your jewelry. Thank you for this information, I have been making jewelry for many many years. But I never sold in any big venues, because at the flea market you can’t compete with the jewelry made in China. This is my brothers page my name is Rose. Thank you for your videos and all your hard work.
I just found you this weekend. Your energy and personality is just so refreshing. Your tutorials are amazing and so well done even though you’re spontaneous it’s still well done, understandable , very clear and precise. I am a Capricorn that supposed to be a creative. I have finally decide to let my creative soul out of the proverbial box that I had it placed in. Thats when I was lead to your tutorials and found a kindred soul.
I want to thank you mainly for taking time out in even doing this very enlightening video, as i'm sure you get very busy, so thanks for your time, you were very helpful & enjoyable to listen to.
Still just getting started and have sold some items in my Etsy job and to friends. This video has been very helpful and made me realize I am pricing too high! Thank you so much for all the great information and love the stories about your own experiences!!! I will be back!
Really enjoyed your knowledge, very helpful, I'm a beginner in the 'show' part of the art of crafts, mainly jewelry. Your down to "Earthness" keeps me watching. Ty much
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I've REALLY been struggling with how to price my work... I have always been the giver... so it's hard for me to charge ANYONE... LOL But watching all of your videos for a while now and hearing this, I dont feel so bad... YOU'RE AMAZING AND YOU INSPIRE ME SO MUCH!!!!
Thanks for all the great info . I loved seeing your work area it gave me inspiration. Thank you for sharing your time, knowledge and sunny personality. This is the first video of yours that I watched and I am probably going to binge watch the rest. Cheers from Canada!
Thank you so much! I've made quite a few pairs of earrings, and didn't know exactly what to price point my work (several pairs of dangling earring with coin charms), and I'm hoping this takes off for our family! Now I know a bit more what to do, and I'm like you- I like to buy sale or clearance (shoe string budget SAHM), so clearance and sales are MY LIFE! lol. You're so creative, and you explain things in a great way! Thank you!
So glad I found you thank you for sharing your information there is a lot of people in the world that are selfish and won't help others in need of trying to make a bit of money such as suppliers...I would help any body to make some money including giving out my suppliers to help them ...by the way your work is amaizing I have only just started making wire jewellery...from Eleanor in 🇬🇧
Gosh... where were you when I spent so much money on Swarovski and giving it all away for pennies !! I am still still new and make Beautiful Swarovski Jewels, Necklaces. etc. I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE OF FOUND YOUR VIDEO !!!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING SENSE OUT OF MY EXPENSIVE MESS .. You are a True GEM :) GENA. F. (FLORIDA)
Your videos are great ! Educational , Informative and your creations are beautiful but it’s that $Million Dollar Personality and Smile that sells your creations , You remind me of my Granddaughter ! You can always tell a confident professional they are never afraid to teach their competitors the tricks of their trade. Thanks for sharing your expertise. Much success to you and your partner!
Hi Yvonne, I'm really enjoying your video. I've been doing crafts for a few years now. I started making barrette holders that look like dresses all the way around. wish I could send u a picture. Anyway, I tried my hand at making earrings. I found I really like it. My problem is "pricing". I was afraid I wld charge tooooo much.🤔. I have sold to friends n family . I'm going to join your web you have listed. Thank you so much. You are a very sweet person, I can tell! Oh, by the way, I'm a 71 yr young great grandmother. May God bless you n yours.Marguerite in MS
Great video, thanks! I love how transparent you are in telling about this! ❤ I would be interested to hear how you price your bigger pieces... when you have to price your time as well as your materials... if you don't mind talking about that... that's what I find the hardest part, the pricing of items that takes a long time to make! 😜
Yvonne I just love your energy and your you tube"s. I have been purchasing and stocking much to my hubby's disapproval. I have been disabled since 1999 and continually get worse all th st time with my different illnesses etc so I have a small disability check once a month and his soon to retire on soc sec no retirement so thats why I'm trying to get him to see my image of the jewely sales. I have many boxes of gem chips of all kinds just to start and more along with silver over wire of different sizes, silver.925 etc so your videos are really helping me in what I dont know about business its self. Kim
Hey Vonn - Love your videos as always. Perceived value is a huge thing that a lot of people overlook, especially when selling online. Something simple like product photography can make or break your business. You could take the same pendant and post one shot with it in you hand, maybe a little out of focus in areas, or have a cluttered backdrop vs something that was shot in a more "professional" setting and the professional version will sell more frequently, and for more money every day of the week. It doesn't take much to make a big impact with your work.
Wow you really give out a lot of information, and in the real world. Not trying to scam someone and make it sound like we are going to be rich over night. like some businesses do just to get your money. Thanks for your help😆
Von, thank you for all this wonderful information. Most people don't take the time to break things down in the way you have and that's very helpful! Have a great rest of your week!
I just found you but I love your work. And you have such an adorable personality it's hard not to get really into it. Helps me when I'm sitting at the desk making chainmail. Keep up the great videos.
Someone I know who ones her own jewelry business, She said wear your own jewelry you made. So if someone asks you about it you can give them the information on where to buy them etc.
Yes wearing your own jewelry in most cases can spark up the conversation to where you make sale from it. well for me Well I get complements on them allot just the other day I did as well.
I've just found your video ,what a great informative video you have made,I have learnt a bunch of things just from watching you here. You have a great personality and you sound such a fun lovely lady .Thank you for sharing .Good luck in all you do
loved your video... very informative ... i always mail out my Jewelry in bags or boxes .. it is a nice feeling for the person when they buy something and they have a box or a bag
Can I just say.. You are awesome. I love your personality. I love how you explain everything. I'm learning but at the same time it feels like I'm just listening to a friend. Thanks for all the friendly info! :)
Little Miss Von, You guys crack me up! Just gotta tell you---------- if your hands were tied, girl, you couldn't complete a sentence (LAUGHING SO BIG HERE) I SAY THIS TO YOU IN JEST and also, I am the very same way. My Dad always told the same thing to me. Yes dear one, Your talent is phenomenal and your work is gorgeous- - - - - THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH WITH YOUR GENEROSITY OF SHARING & CARING. Deesey in Stillwater, OK 1 :D :D
Thanks!!! Very informative. I'm make jewelry and building inventory for an upcoming fair at a local American legion post. Pricing is so confusing but it all makes sense to pay urself, materials and packaging too. Whoa!! Thanks again.
Love your makeup today. You look great. I have been a subby for about a year now, and I love the work you do. You inspired me to start working with wire jewelry - DESPITE having severe deformities from RA in my hands. I plan to give the items I make to patreon patrons (once I actually activate it) depending on tier. It's already difficult trying to amass an audience through TH-cam, let alone run a craft business. I was making the pieces as a hobby. As time went on and my audience grew, I wanted to give something back to my YT (and soon to be Patreon family) but couldn't think of much. Then i thought about what i learned from your channel and now i have a direction. THANK YOU
Thank you so much for this vid Yvonne. I have recently come to wire wrapping, having made & sold polymer clay & metal jewellery @ events. for over 10 years, as a hobby. I love crafting, & even though i am based in England U.K, It seems that you have had all the same experiences i have, with venues, costing work selling, etc.. I am now retired, but still enjoy crafting, & love the wire wrapping, so i would also like to thank you for the free tutorial videos you place on youtube, which help enormously. As a senior citizen now, i am finding it costly to invest in decent wire & gemstones, especially with Lockdowns & the Pandemic restricting venues & sales. I am sure you are finding this too. I'm pleased that you have internet sales options. My son is doing a website for me to sell my arts & crafts on, so looking forward to that! I wish you lots of luck in 2021, & thank you for the very helpfull vdeos.. Best Wishes ..Vicki Harrison-Sewell.
Stumble across your video and want to say Thank you 😊 you have made it so much easier follow along and you explain it to easy to do. I’m a hands on learner. Love this video 💕

Your personality alone must help you sell your items. Everyone can tell you are an absolutely beautiful woman inside and out!!

Ty much

Such a positive attitude!! Thanks for sharing this :)
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing.
I’m just starting to talk this little hobby seriously as a business, so thank you!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Very helpful!

The video was very informative. How do price your work time in overall price of piece. It’s so fun watching you create. Sure can tell you enjoy it.
I would be interested to hear how you price your bigger pieces... when you have to price your time as well as your materials... if you don't mind talking about that... that's what I find the hardest part, the pricing of items that takes a long time to make! 😜
You are so funny and cute! Sometimes you make me surprise laugh 😃
Kim
You're so sweet hahaha, you're energy rubbed off to me
Very informative, quite helpful. Thanks. I realized I have been under pricing my work.
Thank you so so much ! You are a truly beautiful creature, may life be kind to you always.
You are authentic and fun.
I've never done vending or a craft show but your videos give me the motivation to try, love your videos
Someone I know who ones her own jewelry business, She said wear your own jewelry you made. So if someone asks you about it you can give them the information on where to buy them etc.
Christy Hansen That's a great tip. I have made most of my sales because people I met saw my jewelry on me and asked about it.
Yes wearing your own jewelry in most cases can spark up the conversation to where you make sale from it. well for me Well I get complements on them allot just the other day I did as well.
I have just started making jewelry again and have sold 2 pieces right off myself! I am my best advertising right now. 😉
that's good to hear.
I've just found your video ,what a great informative video you have made,I have learnt a bunch of things just from watching you here. You have a great personality and you sound such a fun lovely lady .Thank you for sharing .Good luck in all you do

1 :D :D
Wow! Most helpful video I’ve seen yet! Tons of great info.
