Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on TH-cam, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on TH-cam. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on TH-cam, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.

Harry Nilsson’s “Without You” is one of those songs that only comes around once in a lifetime. Perfection.
His version of Badfinger's song is totally amazing.
Love Nilsson, but still prefer badfingers original.
Mariah Carey had a big hit with it originally done by Badfinger Harry's version is the best.
@@vernonbolinger9488 me too
@@vernonbolinger9488 Good to see there are others who feel that way. :) And I love Nilsson's version. That was my favorite song in the world for a while back in early 72. Back then I knew about Badfinger - 'No Matter What' had been my absolute favorite about a year earlier - but I had no idea they had written 'Without You'. Never heard their version until 1986-ish. A few of us were just hanging out at a friend's house, imbibing a little bit, and my buddy put on the 'No Dice' album. I'd never heard the first few songs and loved every one of them. Then 'No Matter What Came On' , then 'Without You'. I was blown away by the whole album. Nilsson's is more 'polished', Badfinger's is a bit 'rawer'. Hard to come up with the right descriptions, both versions are great.
Written by the late great Harry Nilsson, another great artist to check out.
"Harry Nilsson" leave breadcrumbs, my friend, that's a deep rabbit hole! "Me And My Arrow" "Everybody's Talkin'"
Three Dog were a great band, all their songs are covers but they definitely made them their own and I know them as the artist that made these songs hits
😀 I LOVE 3 dog night! All three of them had amazing singing voices! I saw them live several times. They have a lot of I credible songs! “Easy to be hard”… “Eli’s coming”… “Shambala”…”The show must go on”…”An old fashioned love song “…”Out in the country “…”Black and white”…”Liar”…”Try a little tenderness” (live!) “Pieces of April” Looking forward to more 3 dog night… Loved your reaction & appreciation! 😀
"Old Fashioned Love Song" written by Paul Williams is also a HUGE song!
"Black and White", "Shambala", "Mama Told Me Not to Come", and "An Old Fashioned Love Song" are a few more notable 3DN songs.
This was the caliber of music we heard on the radio throughout the time I grew up in the ‘60s and ‘70s. We didn’t know how lucky we were.
Ironically, Nilsson wrote "One" but his biggest hit "Without You" was written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans of Badfinger.
3 Dog Night sang covers to a lot of song and made many of them hit records that the original could not achieve. The fact that all 3 were great voices who could front a band and they all took turns even during songs to change the lead singer was something that most bands could never do. They also had a lot of fun on stage changing things up during songs. You should check out one of their songs live such as "Eli's Coming".
That was a great capsule explaination. Jeff. :)
oh noooo! You have to go down the Harry Nilsson ❤❤❤ path! Seriously! The album "Nislson Schmilsson"! Anything on that would be great, but my mother, who passed away at 83 a couple years ago, and my brother, who passed away 2 weeks ago at 67, bought that album when it was first released when I was 12. It was a family FAVORITE. My mom didn't dance much, and raised 6 children by herself in the 60's and 70's, always smiled and laughed and danced to "Lime In The Coconut". Please do that one for me if you can get to it! 😊 THANKS SHAWN
You really can't go wrong choosing your next Three Dog Night tune, Shawn. ALL of their hits sound great. Three terrific vocalists, and the band was no slouch either. If I were you, I'd check the listing on a "best of" album of theirs, and try the ones you haven't heard. There are some great live videos of them, too, if you're interested.
You really need to check out their Soundstage concert from 1975. These guys were fantastic live.
This song "One" was written by Harry Nilsson & became a big hit for Three Dog Night. They are a great rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy & had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Some other songs are "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
These guys had so many hits that I lost count.
Love the line “ I spend my time making rhymes of yesterday “
Harry Nilsson was such a great songwriter, but ironically, his best song was a cover. Listen to "Without You".
Their record label wanted to use "session players" on the recordings. They said ABSOLUTELY NOT! What we hear on the record is the entire '3 Dog Night' experience! A mark of character there I believe!
I was 10 yrs old and this was my favorite song. It was also my first record. A 45. And my love for their sound has never faded. Not one bit fr. Very few groups I'll say this about. Esp for that many years!
I heard this song so many times on the radio that it had lost its meaning. Thank you for making it feel new and great again!!!! My favorite is "Easy To Be Hard." ✌️🎶
This came out when I was in grade school and I like an awful lot of their stuff, pretty much all of it actually, but this has long been probably my favorite song of theirs ever since I was a little kid.
I really appreciate you covering thisf band. I think the thing most missed is the fact that the singers weren't just the whole band and that the backing band were an incredible part of the process of their success
I got to see Three Dog Night a few times. Great song which actually came from the Broadway musical Hair.
Check out their live version of Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness."
I got to see this band in 1970, when they were very close to their peak and when this song was still pretty new! You're right that it's a great song.
Thanks, Shawn! 3DN.. such a great band... I appreciate your reactions...
"One Man Band, " by Three Dog Night. It's FIRE 🔥 GREAT SONG. You will not be disappointed!!! Hard-core Rock n Roll music!!!!
Great song! Amazing Reaction, as usual!🙂💜
Blood, sweat and tears the song is called, and when I die, it’s the best version Lauren Nero wrote it when she was a teenager. Sometimes covers are more successful. In the hands of somebody no how to take a song and make it great.
I feel 10 again hearing this.
The whole 70s ambience comes back.
Yes, take at least a shallow dive into Harry's music. Fantastic singer as well as songwriter, kinda quirky and fun, and a range of genre. He wrote and performed movie songs, serious songs, hilarious songs, sweet songs, and sang phenomenal covers of other peoples' songs.
Not just movies. He wrote and sang the theme song for the TV show “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father”.
My favorite song of his is “Without You”.
I saw these guys live at the Miami Pop Festival in Nov. of 1968 they blew me away- spot on perfect harmonies.
The good days when they really sang.
This whole album is just amazing. It was the first album I ever bought, as a young pre-teen. Experienced blue-eyed soul for the first time. Cory Well’s rendition of Try A Little Tenderness is top notch. Nobody. Heaven Is In Your Mind. And a great 1:40 of Lennon-McCartney’s “It’s For You”. Keep up the good work, Shawn!
Easy to Be Hard is one of their best and most famous songs. It has great lyrics, and a timeless message.
Simple concept... simple truth... but OH the execution in this song! So catchy and so memorable. This one goes on most people's forever playlist.
I have always liked the bass line in this song.
"Eli's Coming" = a banger and "Easy to be Hard" is slower but amazing, on deck next,🙏 please!
PS . You won't regret checking out either of these!
Love the story of the Irish music store! Don't worry the suggestions for great songs is neverending.
Eight grade 1971. Three Dog Night my first ever concert. Many songs to choose from these guys but a favorite of mine is Out In The Country.
I might be wrong, but I believe this was their first big hit. And it was HUGE. And the hits came on and on! Their cover of The Band's Chest Fever is incredible!
This is a song by Harry Nilsson, who could write emotionally charged songs that resonate with people and evoke a strong sense of nostalgia. The lyrics are heartfelt and profound,
exploring themes of love, loss, and the passage of time. My favorite some by Harry (RIP) is 'REMEMBER' th-cam.com/video/Yi6bSmp_RpQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RDx3GIImAaabPati - I've made plans to
have it played at my funeral when I leave this life. It's that beautiful a song. Harry was greatly admired by The Beatles.
You've opened a Pandora's box there young man. From probably '69 to '74 or '75 these guys were all over the TV and radio. Most of their songs were either covers or written by someone else. Some showed minor chart success originally, others didn't go anywhere. Three Dog Night got ahold of them and they took off.
Haven't heard this in years. 😊
This song still had a lot of airplay when I was a child in the early/mid 70s and whenever I heard it, the intensity and build ups in the song mesmerized me. And that haunting guitar note in the background, and his vocals....and then the message. Kinda scared me a little but I loved every time it would come on the AM radio. I'm not scared anymore, but I'm still mesmerized by every instrument and vocal. . Man, this has to be in my top 5 fav songs of all time! I was hoping you would play it again bc it was very obvious you loved it from the start! Excellent reaction to an almost perfect song!!!
Saw Three Dog Night in concert about three years ago. They killed it! Still sound great!
A cover by Aimee Mann is played in the opening scene of 1999 film Magnolia. Watching the montage of Tom Cruise, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore and others with "One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do......" is cool.
Your hearts and this song leads into Valentine's Day next week. Try "Love Stinks" by J Geils to set the mood.
This is a great song. I remember loving it when I first heard it as child in the mid 70s. I would suggest that you check out "Without You" by Harry Nilsson. Thanks for your reaction.
A lot of songs written by Harry were for other bands. Harry's music for himself is great. Very well known in the music industry. The one album I know is Nielsen Smelson. Doesn't matter who plays his songs it's always great.
Don't fear the reaper...Studio version with lyrics
Great song and huge hit back then!
the harmony and great lyrics was always awesome to listen to.
I love this song. So simple yet hits so hard.
TDN quietly became one of the best bands ever. Never out in front in the 'all-time greats' lists, but more underexposed over the years in those conversations. They're like Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers with just how good and timeless their many hit songs are. Big, big list, and that's just on the hits.
Chuck, danny, and corey there of the best voices ever in the business. Next you should do Liar......
Yes, Harry Nillson is a deep rabbit hole you should explore. His version of "One" is great also.
TDN was a great cover band that turned songs into gold. Harry Nilsson was a singer/songwriter with a great voice. Hopefully sometime you can react to Without You by Harry, I'm sure you'll like it, peace Shawn.
Haven’t heard this in forever. Thanks!!❤
Great take on the lyrics. My logical brain picked up those intricacies and it just added to the enjoyment of the song.
This was considered "pop" music back in the day, played on top-ten, AM radio! My how the music industry has devolved.
When you get a chance you should check out Harry Nilsson - he did a cover of "Without You" (original was done by Badfinger).
Three Dog Night's Show Must Go On (album version) is a must hear.
All of their songs are good! I was really young, bit my sister that is five years older played this album constantly. You must check out Nielsen ( spelling) has some good tunes! Love your smile!✌️🙂
This was a huge hit when I was a kid in the 70's
Liar, one of the best!
“Shambala” and “Out in the Country” are great ones you haven’t listened to yet.
❤❤❤ Next should be "Shambala". It's a happy upbeat song.
I don't know that TDN had any originals. But their covers are smokin' hot. Here's one you should definitely check out - "Try A Little Tenderness" their cover of the Otis Redding song.
Hey did a whole bunch of great songs two of my favorites would be try a little tenderness which is phenomenal and the other one is Eli’s coming another great great song I think you’ll love them both
"Just An Old-fashioned Love Song"
Badfinger would be a good band to check out
Never Been to Spain
Yes, please! 👍🏻🔥🔥🔥
🎸❤️🎤❤️🥁❤️🎸💥🔥💥🔥🌟 Three Dog Night had so many hits & all were 🔥🔥🔥
**Check out Try A Little Tenderness cover by Three Dog Night, a live performance in 1975. It is an amazing performance that shows how much the band loved Otis Redding’s song 💜☮️
One of the few 60's & early 70's bands that never wrote any songs. Their many hit songs were all covers. Also they didn't play any instruments.
The lead singer reminds me of Burton Cummings of The Guess Who.
You must do some Harry Nilsson. Please
“Without You”. 🔥🔥🔥
can't go wrong with any 3 dog night tune need to react to the tune celebrate with the horns from the band chicago !
I love Easy to be Hard by them.
Great song is Three Dog Night - Out in the country.
Another good one is Brickyard Blues by Three Dog Night.
Everybody’s talking at me, can’t hear a word they’re saying..only the echoes of my mind.
John Farnham also covers this song.
one is the loneliest beer that you'll ever do
Check out "family of man" by them. Great lyrics.
Harry became real good friends and drinking buddies with John Lennon
Great song writing. The TDN version is fire!
The music in the beginning is the same as a phones busy signal.
None of Three Dog Night's big hits were self-penned, although they have many self-written songs on their albums. They were, clearly, excellent interpreters of other people's songs. None of the songs on their greatest hits album are skippable.
gotta check out some Harry Nilsson, he's so good.
Your record store friend also has good tastes. Your mention of his digging Fleetwood Mac's "Hypnotized" made me watch your review all over again. It is a favorite of mine too. Here is your review of "Hypnotized" if anyone missed that one: th-cam.com/video/A-6lHuOJ-CU/w-d-xo.html
Another beautiful 3 Dog Night song is "Out in the Country". My own favorite of theirs.
Still have my 45
Check out Eli's Coming live 1975❤
Mama told me not to come❤
Liar❤
I am like you , the more bass the better- 😀
I loved most of what they did, but Try a Little Tenderness is really special. One of those songs that I still remember the first time I heard it and how awesome it was. They took a great Otis Redding song and arguably made it even better, certainly more popular I would guess. th-cam.com/video/Xu6DUq3QboI/w-d-xo.html
I don't think that Three Dog Night wrote any of their own songs. Someone will correct me fast enough if I'm wrong.
Let Me Seranade You, next
Only a small handful of Three Dog Night songs were actually written by the band....
3 Dog Night is probably the best cover band there was. They didn’t write most of their hits.
3 Dog Night is probably the greatest cover band ever. All of their hits are covers, but they took good songs by others and made them great, and Nilsson is a fantastic singer and songwriter, but his best known hit "Without You" was a cover of a song by Badfinger. Mariah Carey then took Nilsson's version and covered that, making it a hit again a couple of decades later. (and your Irish friend already didn't know Fleetwood Mac? Shame.)
Jeremiah was a bullfrog... just sayin.
I love Harry Nilsson's songs in general, but hearing this again after all these years I just realized that lyrically this song isn't wonderful. I mean their voices were so good it sounded terrific, but the lyrics are pretty lame.
