Lloyd thought he could buy friends and happiness with his money. He came to the realization that in doing so he created a monster (Phillipe), that no one really liked him, not even his wife. They were all there for his money and the good times it bought.
Spoiler! I haven't seen it pointed out yet, so I might as well throw it out there. The main character and Felipe are the same person. This is revealed at the end when suddenly there is only one red car - the true reality. Felipe only seems to exist because the story is depicted through the eyes of an unreliable narrator, but I'd wager Felipe is actually an imagined projection of what the protagonist wishes he were... One that is unbeatably cultered in all ways, but as a result devoid of humanity and ugly as a person. In his quest to best Felipe, he only ends up harming himself (by damaging his car), because his nemesis is in fact himself.
Ill try my best to let everyone understand what's happening in short.... Basically he saw his own self unfold to what he wanted to be and hated it so much he wanted to end it and thus in the end he realised this fact. Edit: his other self (Felipe) is a representation of his greed
Jhamroxk One Of One the guy was himself yes.. but the guy was also burnt like he was in the car. So how damn confusing is this. Time bending, conscious bending wtf
What I understand is that Felipe is him before he became rich and obsessed with fame and that shows that people loved him for what he is not for his money , and his hate for his old self made him see it that ugly
What he wanted to be seen as, was personified in his mind. Basically he saw himself as the other person and hated it. May be this is The Imposter syndrome

I disagree with everyone.. thought it just very confusing. So the "ghoul" is himself? How can he play tennis against himself? So he burned his own car? How come three cars parked at the house? Oh.. if he imagined the 3rd car, Omelleta didn't make that clear. No.. i think the theme and premise of this schtick is simply.. "Wall of confusion -- that's what the world is today -- hey, hey!"
The disgust in his face is hilarious. I dont think i felt like that toward another. But Felipe looks like a nicely dressed alien. I cant blame the guy for being freaked out alittle but his attitude isnt ok. Now i think about it maybe the way he looks at him is how i view my ex 😂😂😅
