There are thousands of different kinds of proteins in our bodies, from antibodies to some hormones. Some of these proteins are so tiny and complex we haven’t been able to see or study them - until now. UCSF researchers and their team developed powerful new equipment that has revolutionized cryo-electron microscopy.

    Correction:
1:13 - The voltage associated with accelerating electrons is labeled as 400 volts. It should be 300 kilo volts.

Does this method require the sample to be homogenized for the 2D averaging to work?

Wait a second, did he just say the electrons travel at the speed of light? I don't know if I trust this "UCSF" guy lmao

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Probably the guy narrating is not a scientist but a journalist. Happens a lot and it's kind of sad seeing the lack of cooperation. But it's not a reason to be skeptical about the discovery.

Why electron mass is not involved in the calculation of the mass number of an atom?

    400volts on 1:12?

Good catch. It's actually 300 kilo volts.

"An electron gun shoots electrons at the speed of light"? Really? Special relativity prohibits anything with mass to reach the speed of light. Electrons don't even go at the speed of light in a synchrotron... UCSF, you must do better when disseminating science.

you mention cryo, but at no point do you allude to why cryo is important, nor explain its benefits to your particular evaluation!

Actually, they did mention why it's important and its benefits...
