I've always wanted an XCR 800, I'll get one at some point! What part of Canada? I rode snowmobile in Ontario last winter, it was a blast with all of the untouched powder!

if you relocate the front skid arm into the lower hole(no hole drilled.. Drill out the template that is already inside the skid) .. you won't get stuck as much.
There is always a place and time for old school sled ditch banging. When we get a good snowfall overnight up to a dozen of us will bust out our childhood sleds and own the streets in our town for the night or until the plows clear to much. You know your doing something right when at every stop other patrons complain about us stinking like gas! We just laugh at those losers! Lol. Good times!!
That's one of the best smells! Takes me back to being a kid again. I love the old wedge sleds, it's cool that you and your buddies still bang the ditches on old metal! Thanks for commenting
I had a 1997 XLT touring, and a 2018 800 Switchback Assault. I ended up selling my 2018 because it was less fun to ride. Way faster, rode way better, was way better on gas... but compared to the old XLT, it just wasn't as fun to ride
Yeah, I bought that sled with the intention of making it a lake racer, just thought it would be fun to see if it could handle some deep snow, which it couldn't 😀
@@mrracer980 when you're in there youll see why you need to port it. The channels for center and mag side are larger, where the pto side, the bearing which takes the brunt of the load, gets the least oil. This is why those tripples get a bad rap. I just modded my wifes xlt 600. Did a top end, all new pistons, and put a 144" track.
Vintage, seems like just a couple years ago I was working as a Polaris tech setting these sleds up new (95-98). Gotta be careful in them ditches! all sorts of stuff hiding in there. Ultra RMK woulda kept on going! 🙂

it's funny that you call this sled "vintage", when the newest sled I've ever ridden is a 1994 Indy Lite 340. "vintage" for me means 60's-70's. anyhoo, good video, nice sled.

Yeah, that particular go pro's screen didn't work. I had to guess if it was in the right position. I got a new Go Pro this year, if we get enough snow, the camera will be aimed appropriately. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video!

Do you ever have issues with the motors on the polaris ultra triples?
I haven't had any with it. I ended up selling that one. They are good motors though. Just need to pipe them to get another 35hp!
Pipe but also take the time to port the pto side oil hole for bearing in top end of engine. That's why they get their bad rap.
