I'm partial to the GM 3800 V6. I've had at least 25 of them over the past 10 years and never had any major failures with them. They actually get fantastic fuel mileage, run really smooth and with regular oil changes last a really long time. I've never had one with the check engine light on and they're just awesome. Anyone could do just about anything to them with minimal knowledge and they have great power for what they are. I still have a 3800 in my 1995 Buick Park Avenue and it still runs like a top and the transmission shifts like a clock. It's a true master piece in automotive technology
@filippocorti6760 I just kept buying them to fix then re-sell. I actually just liked to buy these cars for some reason. But after I bought them I found out they didn't need any repairs at all. Just some maintenance and that's about it. If I could buy any of my cars back, I'd go with the 2 door 1990 Buick Regal 3.8. I would've kept them, but I didn't need 25 cars. But the Park Avenue I currently have is going on its 7th year with me and I'm planning on restoring it. I love those old 3.8 V6 cars. I wish they still made the 3800
@@filippocorti6760 Unfortunately it did. But if you kept your oil clean and you kept it well maintained it was a very good and reliable engine. I even had a car with the GM 3.5(Chevy Malibu), it made good power and I had no problems with it. Even the GM 3.6 is a very good engine if you keep up with the oil changes. I change my oil and filter every 2k miles, I don't care what the manufacturers say or anything like that. If you change the oil and transmission fluid you won't have any problems with the engine and transmission. When I change the oil it's just slightly darker than the fresh oil I put in. And I flush the transmission in that car (the Park Avenue) 4 times a year. And I've never had a problem with the transmission. The key to keeping these cars is change the oil and transmission fluid, you won't have problems if you do that. Don't go by the fluid life monitor in the car. And I do it myself I know what's going in it. I really do like the GM 3.5, 3.6 and the 3.8 liter engine. They're great engines as long as you keep all the fluids fresh and clean. I use the Pennzoil ultra platinum oil with the STP Max filter and Valvoline max life ATF.
