David Hernandez 504whp/560tq? Okay, my 2012 renntech E63 was 545whp/635tq on the same DYNO. So, I think the the TQ potential of this 4.0L motor is less than the old M157 5.5.

Everyone keeps saying modern engines are being underrated by 50-60-100 hp depending on car we hear this with Benz, McLaren etc , my theory is the underrating is not that significant, I would hypothesize instead that drive trains are becoming more efficient and less HP is being lost. Yes engines might be underrated but I doubt that is the full reasoning, more than likely drive train advances and better materials are ALSO allowing more power to get to the wheels. E.g. it is a combination of both underrated engines and improved drivetrains.

Insuranace premiums are the reason i think they underrate horsepower
I think is about the gasoline rating, which is different in every continent
Back in the days when an engine made 150hp having 15% drivetrain loss made sense (about 22hp). Now with 500+hp cars people still use 15% loss for 2wd and 20% for 4wd and it makes no sense. No way is the E63 drivetrain eating 200hp in losses. My guess is the whole drivetrain takes about 90hp off the crank and the remaining 10hp is engine lacking proper airflow and boom here is your 100hp drivetrain loss making the car the 603hp car MB is claiming.
That 28% drivetrain loss is beyond ridiculous or MB makes a really totally inefficient drivetrain that eats 200hp at 5000rpm.

First I love Mercedes, however Its Not Insane. $105,000+ for a bi turbo 504 whp. My $72000 hellcat made 650 whp bone stock. FBO makes 740. With pulley looking for 800 whp. Amazing Benz. Just not insane. Nowhere near insane. Whats insane is dodge makes more power, less weight, for 35% less. Hellcat weighs 200+ less pounds.

I have a doubt. How do you maintain the speed of the car like do u just floor it from 0-120? I heard during dyno test the speed is maintained as per a "Driving Cycle" is it true?

I enjoyed listening to the dyno doood talk... he sounds very sophisticated, knowledgeable and professional. On another note, anyone that's been around dynos enough will know that Mustang Dynos read on the high side. Anyhoooo... the AMG looked really good on the rollers!
