  • The Olympic Javelin train service running during the London 2012 Olympics. The Olympic Javelin service runs from Ebbsfleet - Stratford International - st pancreas on high speed 1. There is a train every 7.5 minutes. The service is run by 140mph class 395 javelins trains. All of the trains at 2 sets long, and the service is using so many javelin trains, that the regular Southeastern javelin services were running a reduced timetable during the Olympics.
At Stratford International, the javelins were using the never used Eurostar platforms! trains alternated between the normal platforms and the Eurostar ones to reduce the crowds (although there was not as many people as I thought there would be). You can't get to the Eurostar platforms from the normal station entrance, because if it was Eurostars running, there would be passport control. It was interesting to see the never used Eurostar side of the station.

Man, these trains were excellent. Rode on them daily as a volunteer, so envious (at the time I lived in the Midlands, so going back to their rail services was horrible). Crazy that we're still probably a decade away from a proper national high speed line, thanks to crazy overspend and poor project management. I just wish we had lines and trains that were as smooth, modern and comfortable as the HS1/Javelin service.

This train must be a son of Mr.Edmund Morel.
Railroad was invented in U.K. and an English engineer taught the technology to Japan.
And Japanese engineers have tried hard to make trains faster year by year.
Mr.Edmund Morel died in Japan in 1871.
    But there are many sons.
    Congratulations!!
Watching this video Mr.Edmund Morel in heaven must be very glad.
And now English railroad engineers do very well.
There were many hard points to make rail roads.
But they did. Very nice. GJ!! GJ!!

The trains were busy at certain times of the day. If you were one of the 80,000 people leaving the Olympic Stadium, it'll be standing room only for the 7 minutes to St Pancras - but they did a brilliant job of getting you on to a train quickly.

Eurostar does stop at Ebbsfleet. In 2010 when I went to Paris we stopped at Ebbsfleet

Will these Javelin trains still run after the Paralympics?
This high speed train could come in handy for travelling to work.

+I'm the BOSS There is only first class on the Class 375. There isn't on these 395's I am afraid. It would be nice, I travel from Manchester-Dover by train six times a year and given how much Southeastern charge, it would be nice to have at least a bottle of water on board.

+Bungle2010 I travel from Manchester and Virgin Trains is the only provider from my end running services down to London, and it's crazy because if you book in advance you can pick up an Advance First Class ticket from Manchester Piccadilly - Dover Priory via London Euston/Pancras for £49.50! Usually on the 11.15 service, but on the 11.35/11/35 service the price goes up by £30/40 in standard! I travel first class because often it's cheaper, free wifi, food and the first class lounges in Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston. I'm always sure to have a bottle of two of water in my bag. I was just saying, they charge extra for first class but you receive nothing in return for your custom.

+Bungle2010 Maybe if you was able to piece together and understandable sentence in the first place, I would of answered it by now. It would be nice if they installed first class on the Javelins, the journeys have less stops and they 375's have it, so why don't the 395's have it? It would be nice, especially given how long the train is. If you're paying more to travel on the 395's, you should be given the option to class standard or first class.

I don't tend to like the class 395, I find they can be a little stuffy on board. I much prefer the class 375.

I don't know, when I have traveled late at night to Dover Priory on the 23.12 and it's always fine. Recently I traveled down from my home town of Stockport and been on the 4/5pm service and they are always packed out and so hot! Being Asthmatic I felt crushed in. Maybe it was based on that experience, myself I love the speed and the announcement just not the delays...

+Daniel Marsden I find the electrostars rather stuffy.

+benobve Really? I tend to feel more comfortable on them, I don't really like the Javelin. I take the 395 down to Ashford then jump off and take the Electrostar onward to Dover. However, I don't get why they have first class on it when there isn't any condiments or more space. Hmm!

+Bungle2010 Indeed, I was talking about the 375's. I'm sure that with a train with no ventilation via open windows, I would of thought they'd naturally install FC. I think I am alright with 375's mostly because of the more frequent stops, so you can feel the breeze through out. That's just me.

+Bungle2010 You mentioned about the air conditioning, reckoning that there wasn't FC beforehand. I merely put a hole in the myth.

Cool trains but should be TFL. These other operators are ridiculously expensive for commuters. Come on London do you want to be genuinely world class here?
