There is a reason why Kassadin was for years either instaban or instapick in professional play. What I like about him is that he is at the same time easy and fun to play.

what it boils down to is lvl 11+ Kass's HP bar is almost irrelevant: he dies when his mana bar hits 0

Thoughts on selling boots for cosmic drive as 6th item? Lot of spells to proc it, plus your mobility comes from R anyway.
If I'm going to sell boots on Kass I'd go for an hourglass over cosmic, depends on their team though. In this game with magical boots and them running away, boots were probably better.
I just hard carried a game with this build but instead of void I went lich bane because they ere really squishy and then sold my boots for frozen heart. Went from them pushing our nexus at half health to me stalling for 20 minutes and eventually carrying. The frozen heart countered the adc and fed top laner. If they’re heavy ad and not super bursty than I’d have to say frozen heart wins over Zhonyas. But you absolutely don’t need the boots after your fifth item and lvl 16 lol

5:40 how does freezing the wave like that affect him if he's not in the lane either way?
Because the longer you wait with lasthitting minions the more damage they are gonna do to *your minions*, so the minion wave gets more thinned out by the time he comes back to lane.
There's also the option to hard push a wave to get your own wane to die to tower, but this only really works if you do it right after your laner recalled and you're able to push fast enough. (Somewhat oversimplified, but that's generally how it works)
As long as you’re not counterpicked on kassadin it’s basically free scaling

Against Silver and Gold players it is easy, the difficulty begins in higher elos where people don’t give you these early kills and you lane against any ad champ like a tristana and you get pushed in 24/7. Then you become usless….
Kass is fine in high elo, good against a couple of meta midlaners
