The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is clear my head for 5 minutes with what I call a mental reset.

I don't have a routine, but I like your suggestions! One thing that gets me out of my head, and clears my mind, is swimming. Once I go underwater the whole world gets quiet, and I can reach almost a euphoric state, if I swim underwater for long lengths of time. ;)

My routine alway start by waking up at 4:00am with 45 min of meditation, followed by taking my LV supplements, water and an hour of gym and closing by a cold shower!!! This start the day perfectly!!!! You should read Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod

Hi Phil! Would you recommend to take a trancsendental meditation course or go at it on our own? I am familiar with basic vipassana meditation, but I've heard about folks like Tim Ferriss and Ray Dalio swearing by it, so I've been really considering it. Even though I make a very good income, admittedly I am kind of cheap to shell out $1500 on a course if I can learn it myself. Thoughts?

First thing in the am, around 5:30am I help the wife with kids. Get some coffee, watch CNBC for 1 hour and decide if I need to do some option selling or sell overpriced stocks, I work from home so then I start work. I try to complete about 80 to 90% of all my tasks for work. I go for a nice long walk around 2pm. Have family time till 7pm so I can work for another 4 hours. Go to bed around 11pm. Wash, Rinse and Repeat.

Get myself and my baby ready, listen to the InvestED podcast over breakfast and as I do my chores throughout my day, then baby and I go to daily mass. I try and squeeze in yoga if I can. I have been listening to your podcast since this summer and my husband and I love it! I have been learning so much along with Danielle's investing journey and have 50 odd episodes left to listen to now. After that I really look forward to reading your books, Uncle Warren's letters, and do some proper deep research into companies I like. I really can't express just how contagious is your enthusiasm for investing. You are an amazing teacher, Phil, and what you teach is changing our lives. Thank you for putting all this out there.

My morning routine is praying and studying God's Word for about 15-30 minutes. Next I head to Planet Fitness and exercise for 30-60 minutes. Shower there and head off to my chiropractic office. Take care of patients, paperwork, marketing the practice, work also on my volunteer stuff for church, learning the investing stuff then head home. Trying to get things unpacked and organized as we moved my Mom into our new house about a year ago and due to my husband's health, have been unable to really move into our home. Mom passed in March so now going through her things. Settling into a new normal.

For me as a 23 year old, I wake up at 3:30 a.m. and read until I need to get ready for work around 5 a.m., work until 3 p.m., then I listen to a podcast on any number of topics while I work out at the company gym, and then I study finance until around 5 p.m. when I relax with my partner or call my mom and then we head to bed at around 7 p.m. :)
I don't work in the finance industry but one day I want to, so I took your advice and have been reading as much as I can about everything, haha!

Key takeaway, read read read. Read for hobby, read for living, read for fun, read for learning, read as if that's the only thing that will make you amazingly successful throughout your life.
And what you read - If you find a way to apply that knowledge (say a job, business idea, side project) don't disregard it. Think critically of it and if you feel convinced (unconvinced is not same as lazy) act on it

As a college student learning to invest my routine usually consists of waking up at 6am, biking to the bus stop, and on the way to campus I listen to Wallstreet Journal podcasts for updates. I keep an eye out for anything huge and stay focused in class; checking the hourly trends can be distracting! I end at noon and on the ride back I either read the Wall Street journal,or if its a Tuesday it HAS to be the InvestED podcast (personal favorite) I get home and see if anything is on sale, if not I go to the gym to stay well and come back to listen to any new quarterly statements from my wishlist and read as much as possible!

Everyday wake up at 7 am. Sharp!! Have my cup of tea. Love that ! Listen to news on radio while making breakfast. Mostly a nice tuna sandwich. Little yoga or a brisk walk. I don’t work 9-5. Lucky me!! Check my diary and note my appointments. If I have work to attend I’ll get ready beautifully and professionally. And ready for the day!!

Up by 6 am to send hubby to the office. Oatmeal for breakfast while studying Scripture and memorizing/meditating. Check all communication - personal and social. Write in my blog. By 10 am I’m ready to consider the world: news, the businesses I own (aka stocks) any news? Any earnings? Any trades? Any thing? Then my reading list ... most factual but I love my fiction so I use a 3:1 ratio there. Working for myself has helped my investing so very much. When I worked for someone else, I had to go into the office about an hour ahead of everyone else to check on my businesses and then take a morning break to execute any planned action. It worked out then, but it’s much easier today.

Thanks, Phil. Very instructive. I no longer have a true routine. I am retired and spend a couple of hours reading, and analyzing stocks (but rarely buy or sell). If I have a routine, it is spending time around the house and yard doing repairs and upkeep - things I let slide while I was working up to 60 hours a week. This video will make me focus a little more. I need to increase my reading more than the one hour a day. Thanks, again!

This made me feel so much better, I've been doing investments for a couple years now, and I always find it difficult how to explain how I do it. I think listening to podcasts, or reading, watching documentaries, going to stores to watch consumer behavior, buying products and seeing whats good and bad about them, watching your friends purchasing behavior all is super important. Having a basic understanding of Micro economics is huge too, I think we focus way too much on the macro economics which can affect the markets in the short term, but the long term winners are all based on microeconomics of the economy by and large. I try to listen to hours of podcasts a day, watch cnbc, think about the economics of businesses I own or are interested in buying, and comparing them to the alternative. It's difficult because if you aren't working at a firm the process is actually really simple and not super complicated but sometimes that forces you into taking actions when it's not required. I almost feel like I need to do extra work just to make sure I don't do something dumb with my buying and selling.

Thanks Phil that is great hearing about the way you structure your day.
My day trading routine starts at 7am-7:30am with a cardio exercise (Jumprope:), then meditation, then breakfast, and starting the day at 8:30-9am.
I work as a Paralegal in a full time job (right now from home), so I do not have much time now to invest in trading, but starting from Jan 2021, I am planning on investing more time and taking it as a full time.
Right now, my trading time is not set or framed, and usually I have time before (8am) or after work (5pm) to read and going over my watching list, and watch news about the companies I am interested in.
Very excited starting my trading journey with Rule #1

Yep I hav something to say. Rule #1. Picked up that book about a doz years ago. And I still lost money but I've made it back. I too hav a unique schedule. It's when I get up. I don't like investing. That portfolio is for the guys that I gave discretion to. The portfolio I keep at home is for trading only. That's where I have my fun. The faster the better. Crude. Risk on risk off. But I picked up the on sale part from you in an interview I saw 10 years ago. Something about shirts I believe . I follow the range and the news. That makes it move. I like that and will average down and kill it when it turns. Don't care for reading and don't care for dead money. Motorcycle is my lift. Harley. 1 minute or 1 hour that's my day on the range. Keep one eye on the ball. Start out with water. That gets the blood flow. Then comes the coffee. Jus thought I'd tell a little of me and says thanks for the memories in the book.

See, I have been diving deep into my spiritual self and now I'm resurfacing into the world of investing after being confused about which path to take...I'm motivated by my spiritual goals of being financially free and living the life I want. I love that you incorporate meditation, yoga, nature and animals into your day! I'm studying investing and dog walking on the side. Thanks for showing us that these things (investing and spirituality) go hand in hand and that it's possible to take both paths :) I plan on watching all of your videos! Having that perspective gives you rest, and let's you make decisions without worrying too much. You just ultimately aren't in control! When I wake up I text my wife to see when she is coming home for lunch, while I'm laying there I scan through my up dates from TD Ameritrade and check some of my holdings.
When she answers I either shower or try to cook real fast while making coffee. Then I go outside and get the newspaper.
After we eat I will pack my lunch for work, check our online businesses, get dressed for work and leave by 2 PM. When I get home at 4 am I will un pack my cooler, check our businesses record every penny we made or spent and what on and if it was business or personal. Check and see how our holding company is and if we got paid any dividends. Then hopefully in bed by 5 am so I can be up by 11am to do it all over again.
you would think that after investing for over 20 years I wouldnt still be working 60-80 hrs a week for someone else, but yet I am. It isn't as easy as some think. I may never become financially free doing this, but I admit I love doing it and if i have to keep working for someone else to keep investing so be it.

Great daily routine but for us beginners I feel we need to crank up the the appetite to learn to invest the right way and put lots of energy into that. What routine advise do you have for a beginner with a ferocious appetite to be a great investor

My problem is keeping the cash to do so at the best time should I just invest in a good mutual fund to hold and withdraw when the opportunity arises . Thanks for your videos your a cool guy

Hi Phil, I am sure I am talking for many of us here when I ask you if you could please talk about the current situation of the market. Many are buying following the principle that prices are cheap (mostly in the -for many- overrated TECH companies) and the prices keep falling to new 53 weeks lows. Could you make a video about this? thanks!

Thanks for the great video, Phil Town. I read a lot of books on math, physics along with self-growth. After hearing you out on the daily routine, I never knew investors can read what they want. I thought they read mainly business information. Once I finished watching the video, I realized that's the lifestyle I envision for myself. How can I be an investor with that type of lifestyle of reading a lot and learning everyday?

Hey Shin! In this video I walk you through an average day for me as a full-time investor. How much time do I actually spend with the investing part and how much do I spend with the rest of my daily activities? The answer might surprise you! bit.ly/2N5G946

I am also digging into some annual reports from some wonderful companies and sipping my 11 cent coffee that I bring from home. I dont like the high falutin coofee that you do Phil!! :)
