I was playing travel ball in KY at the time. I remember playing a tournament the year after they won and they were playing at the same complex in a different age group. It wasn't all of them but a lot of them from that team. It was their first year on a 'full size' field but I still remember people lining up a long the fence all the way down both baselines whenever we had down time between games just to get a chance to watch them play an inning or two. That was a special group. It wasn't just Louisville, the whole state got behind em.

Chula Vista in 08 or 09 was unbelievable too. At one point they had a kid who was 12-14 with 12 home runs!!!! He had a teammate who was a foot taller who had absolute nukes too. That was a ridiculous lineup. Had like 8 different kids jacking balls. They set the record for most HRs by a team in the LLWS.
Winning it for the first time to give a World Series title to our state of Hawai'i was one of the greates accomplishments we will always remember for the rest of our lives! Congrats to all of the other past and future winners of the title

Someone told me the other day that though the LLWS is an awesome event and showcases youth talent from around the globe, rarely will you find the world's best 12 year old baseball teams even in the tournament. The LLWS is simply that: the World Series for all the Little League all star teams around the world. Where as tournaments like the ones at Cooperstown or Cal Ripken parks showcase the best travel teams, at least from the United States, and the winners and participants of these tournaments are typically much better than those from the LLWS. Is this true from how other people understand it?
