If the project worked Magnus would be the equivalent of an Energizer D battery, the astronomicon would serve as a desinfectant of the web way and Horus would have grown hair thus avoiding the heresy
" we will assume that the events leading up to and including the horus heresy itself never occured " Easy : Erebus & Kor Phareon are killed by an random ork that we call Bastardsmasha .
Humanity would've gradually ascended to the level of Custodes, the warp would've calmed down after starving (since Custodes are so chill), most Xenos would be dead, humanity travels to other galaxies and fights Tyranids forever.
@@derekdrake8706 I think it depended on individual Primarch approach. Horus was fine with negotiations, while the likes of Ferrus or Vulkan were extermination-happy.
Phreak Azoith Then proceed to fight off demons as they're coming through the newly dug trench. And they'd still be happy from the result, they're Kriegsmen after all.
The thing is, realistically, even if big E got his functioning, safe webway gate on Terra set up and working, they would still need time to transition over to webway travel. The Navigators wouldn't become obsolete overnight. Gateways would need to be built on Imperial worlds, corridors would need to be charted, Dhrukari would need to be removed, ships would need to be retrofitted to fit the new travel paradigm, and so on and so forth. Even then, basic warp travel would probably still be useful for quite some time, what for methods like exploring parts of the galaxy w/o a webway gate, at least until Big E and friends figured out how to expand the corridors of the webway. And even then, you would have use for those who can peer into the warp, even in the webway. Think about it, what better way to check for weak spots in the webway than those who can peer into the immaterium itself. I could see the Navigators transitioning into a force dedicated toward exploration of new worlds, and simultaneously, the custodianship of the webway tunnels.
Valid point. There's a novel where it's a plot point that there are some places that the Aeldari can't go because there just aren't webway gates there, and if the Emperor was making his own rather than just patching into the existing webway, it's going to take time to build. That said, the point was made that the Navigators were already trying to sabotage the project. The Emperor might have had an honourable role in mind for them in the post-webway Imperium, but they didn't know that.
@@Draxynnic Compartmentalization was hurting the Imperium because the Emperor couldn't account or control for how others would react to particular facts or proposals.
Actually, in the fanfiction "the Weaver Option", Comorragh gets utterly destroyed and Slaanesh completely loses its shit after Tzeentch screwed big time.
I wonder what if Malcador's idea of making half of the Primarch's women actually happened and the Emperor didn't think it was a joke, would be interesting
If it was completed I think the Legio Custodes would have assassinated the Navigators on Terra in a single night. There would have been no response from the Navigators of they could not stop the project.
An interesting idea! Though one would imagine that some sort of "transition period" would need to be implemented, given the (at least initial) isolation of certain systems and what-not.
@@40KTheories What if the human webway had the ability to connect to some channels of the eldary webway? Since many of their gates still existed, the emperor would have only had to make gate for areas which did not have eldary gates nearby
Modern BL Emperor, yeah, hé would have orderrd that. Richard Priestley though would have instead reached a deal : continued support in exchange for Navigator rights such as maintenance of a decent livelihood and gene-therapy researches.
My opinion is that the navigators would be given a new task. Someone who can see the tides of the warp could be useful for more than just navigation: they could be given the task of predicting potential incoming incursions from people who still use those tides for interstellar travel. Their job description could change from Navigators to the equally important Watchmen
I think the real question is: What if the emperor talked to the Primarchs about his plans instead of keeping them in the dark and making them vulnerable to the seed of doubt?
Big E didn't trust the Primarchs unfortunately. The amount of shit that could have been avoided by telling the Primarchs what was happening is ridiculous. Even if he swore them to secrecy and the rest of the Imperium was kept unaware, the amount of improvements is going to be insane.
@@mattkennedy9308 Lordy lordy, if only Big E took the fear over his more "flawed" sons as a reason to help them and maybe even help out (Seriously, he should've just had Angron's legion help him with the revolution and avoided accepting their joining into the Imperium until Angron took over. Less slavery, a planet if loyal warriors that are still worthwhile without being Astartes, a planet loyal to Angron and a Loyal Angron. Seriously, did Emps leave the stove on back on Terra that day?) Then the whole Horus Humbug would be avoided. Imagine an Angron that died in meditation, loyal to his father to the end. Imagine a Fulgrim that embraced a new humility and stopped being a Prissy prima Donna. Imagine a Magnus with a Librarius that studied spells to turn them against the Warp and even study countermeasures to each one. And definitely humbled more. Imagine a Konrad that was given a healthy reassurance and necessary self-doubt over his visions of the future. Imagine a Perturabo that overcame his petulance and able to ease his paranoia over the Eye of Terror. Imagine a Horus with a tempered ambition and self-assurance. Imagine a Mortarion that surrendered his prejudices and actually gave in to the fact that Psykers can do good too. All of these would be possible if Big E actually stopped, had a sit, and tried to be a dad and better planner.
One of the most tragic things about the 40k universe, the most grimdark of timelines, is how under the surface there were possibilities of a far more noblebright timelines at certain points if things had gone just a bit differently
I'd say the best way to broker a peace between humanity and the Eldar would be through the rescue of Isha. Leman Russ and his honor guard who are currently traveling through the Warp looking for the "Tree of Life" are best equipped to survive the Garden of Rot where Nurgle keep the Eldar Goddess captive. Upon rescuing her I could see Isha and Russ striking a bargain in exchange for her freedom Isha would heal the Emperor to full health(and the Emperor would get his big tiddy Eldar Goddess Girlfriend). Knowledge of the Webway would be one of the benefits of this peace.
Could Bellasarius Cawl replicate necron pylon technology to effectively permanently seal the warp rift on Terra and relieve the emperor of one of his greatest burdens?
Or, you know, negotiate a deal with a Necron lord like Trazyn to set up a small pylon network inside the depths of the palace to seal it. Sure, you'd have to keep it quiet, but it would put a seal on the problem.
@@Sorain1 just keep it out of the ears of the fucking inquisition and we're set. The custodes would ready to do anything just to see the Emperor return, probably same for ministorum.
@@thecommentguy9380 can imagine how that would go. "How dare you bring this foul xenos creation into this holy place! What heresy brought you to do this?" "These pylons seal Warp rifts. It's why Abaddon broke Cadia." "Oh! Carry on then!"
That is quite ironic indeed... Considering Malcador, the *FOUNDER OF THE INQUISITION* was the *MOST POWERFUL HUMAN PSYKER* , second only to Emps. Guy could subdue a Primarch with his sheer mind.
even in 30k psykers were hunted and purged. with the warp in its current state a psyker is just a ticking time bomb. *if* the imperial truth had been fully implemented and chaos effectively starved out. then psykers would be much more stable. no more exploding. no more daemonic possessions. no more mutating into chaos spawn. if the emperor just wanted a psychic humanity he could have done so easily with genetic manipulation. but it is a cart before the horse issue
Theory, what if the Navis Nobilite were actually just in phase 1 guiding ships through the warps and phase 2 would be them assuming other responsibilities instead of guiding ships? and that was one of the things the Emperor was going to do to help push the human race to become a psychic species? I mean being able to see the tides of the warp is strategically advantageous otherwise the imperium would of disintegrated 10 millennia ago. And surely there is more to the Navigators than simply seeing. They are technically powerful in their own right and a means or medium for evolution. Kinda like the "first batch" if you will. Its incredible to me how just one change in history for this universe can have such drastic and completely overwhelming changes....
Also long as I am standing I will never give in to Chaos and it’s made evils. I walk through the warp with a quiet mind admist the screams of a thousand daemons.Though a journey through a Webway would be much more peaceful.
Anybody know which, if any, of the books detail the emperor’s response to discovering Magnus had been killed by Russ instead of taken prisoner? Thanks.
It would be a delicious sight to see him do high-speed raids on Commorragh. "Hahahaha Don't like it when the boot is on the other foot, eh filthy knife-ears!?"
Upon completion of the webway, the Astronomican would basically would be like a psykic charged death star beam. Vaporizing any and everything in the warp in the webway path.
Great video today! It is important to remember that the Golden Throne was intended to be paired with the Silver Throne in "The Path of Heaven". Magnus was supposed to be seated there, to aid his father who sat upon the Golden Throne. Imagine now if those two, combined with whatever other psychic power that is added, were to be directed toward pacifying the warp or even turned toward hindering the Dark Eldar. Now I believe that the additional sacrifice chambers were only added to the Golden Throne's mechanisms AFTER Magnus the Gullible's breaking of the Webway Project. No warp travel however does not save the Imperium from the Orks, Necrons, or Tyranids. Honestly, the Tau don't count. Imagine sending full legions with their complete compliments against the Dark Eldar in a stand-up fight, something that they would certainly not prefer. Would the Imperium make quiet alliances with some Eldar Craftworlds against greater threats, like the Necrons, Orks, or Nids? This was a great video and topic to ponder, well done!
I think you missed a beat somewhere in that. The Emperor wasn't simply trying to access the web way, he was trying to build his own! This would be an achievement only matched by the Old Ones themselves. Not even the Eldar have their own Web Way, accessing the original only. This would mean not stepping on the Eldar's toes, it would be leaping over them! As for the Astronomican and the navigators. Remember that it took the Emperor's psychic might to hold back the demons from entering his web way. While Magnus was his backup the Emperor could have intended to repurpose the Navigators to shore up the foundations, as it were. They could also be just the psykers needed to turn the Astronomican into a weapon
How simpler would it have been for The Emperor to simply tell his sons.... sure probably the powers that be would try to stop him if they found out but no xenos or chaos entity would be able to stop 18 Primarchs
Volta Mars If he removed the butchers nails then it’s possible, but I feel like he’d still hold anger of the emperor rescuing him only instead of his warriors when all they wanted was to be free
The Big E literally kidnapped Angron and then destoyed the planet he fought so hard to try and liberate for decades. Then left the nails in Angron`s head. I love Big E but he made some autistic decisions
I thought that Malcador's voice sounded like one of the Fabulous Custodes members from TTS. Lo and behold it was AlfaBusa the creator of TTS AND voice actor of Wamuudes.
Hello and great video! The completion of the webway would definitely put mankind at a level of dominance over the Galaxy. In your example if there was no Horus Heresy. Horus would die instead of taking the dark gods offer. He would still be tricked, there is no getting around that. But to prevent the Horus Heresy, Horus would have to deny the chaos gods and succumb to his wounds and die. Sanguinious would probably be the next possible war master choice. Once the terran webway was complete... Lorgar & Erebus would flee into the warp, but could not even hide from the Emperor there, the Emperor would psychically discover and become aware of their plans and purge them. Or the chaos gods would punish them for their failure. Angron and his legion would be executed as they fall deeper and deeper into insanity. Magnus would eventually be called to answer for his crimes of continued unsanctioned psychic manipulations as he and his legion continue to find a cure for the flesh change. His legions deep ties to Tzeentch by this time would be discovered and Magnus and his entire legion would be purged by the Emperor or betrayed by the ever dubious Tzeentch for failure. Fulgrim would be killed due to the fact that he would have still succumbed to the daemon sword he used. Fulgrim and his entire legion would be purged or executed. Without the influence of the other Primarchs it is uncertain if the other traitor Primarchs would have turned traitor. As far as xenos goes... The Tyranids may not have been attracted to the galaxy until a time when the empire of man could better deal with them. The Silent King would return to awake the Necrons but the foot hold of the Imperium of Man may prove too strong. Those necrons not already destroyed and scavanged by mankind would be destroyed easily in a war with mankind and it's easy web way portal technology. Due to their continued raids and need to satiate their desires... Mankind would seek to purge the Drukhari from Commorrah and the webway. The Harlequins would seek in continuing to protect the Drukhari and the secrets of their webway, and the Harlequins will enter into a war with mankind as well. The Asuryani seeking to preserve their culture and way of life, would seek to protect the Harlequins and would be drawn into a war with mankind. This war would be at the Aeldari advantage initially due to their familiarity with the webway, but the sheer numbers and resources of the Imperium and the constant attacks of their psyche & souls from Slannesh would prove their undoing With the completion of a terran webway portal, Mankind could deal with Orkish uprisings faster and quell them. Giving Mankind time to find and learn a way to contain or biologically purge Orkish genes all together. Because the Imperium of Man did not devolve into a superstitious xenophobic race by the end of the 41st millennia many future supportive races surrounding the Tau empire would have already made trade and military alliances and treaties with the Imperium of Man. The Tau home world would have long been colonized by Man with the Tau becoming extinct under the weight of terran industrialization or subjugated as most primitive races would at the time of their planets discovery would have. But this is all just a theory. 😏 Thanks again for the video.
The Tau have allready been protected by unknown forces from human colonisation in 35K. Though one must wonder if the whatever the motivation that was born of, it might had dissapeared if a more stable Terran empire was around. I would also say a stable "Emperor approved" empire would be less genocidal by that time. So I don't think they would exterminated, which also means they didn't need the Tau'va. Ta'u fluff is far from being compact enough to speculate, why do they progress so quickly, is it link to the warp storm that protected them are the Etherals agents of the force that protects, why the focus on the caste system. But yes, I do feel like the Tau empire wouldn't be around with a sucessfull Human one. The Ta'u is basically the galaxy's second chance...or..third...fourth one? While they do things differently they share a lot with the Emperors grand schemes and troubles...especially NEVER TELLING PEOPLE WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!
so do you think the Emperor ordered Magnus to be brought back to Terra to be sat on the golden throne instead of him? that was his original intended purpose.
Magnus can still be the salvation for the imperium if he returns to the fold now. Because then he will protect Terra as the Emperor can finally renew himself after being locked in the prison of undeath for 10k years.
All the Emperor had to do was tell Malcador about the Webway project. Keeping it such a secret was what ultimately doomed the project. But Malcador does know the Primarchs better as people than the Emperor and could decide who could be trusted with such information. Ultimately, the Emperor trusting SOMEONE would save the project and humanity and even most of the Galaxy from essentially Hell. As a result, the Emperor is able to finish the Webway project. The Horus Heresy would be limited to a few heated arguments in the palace hallways, that the Emperor would settle on his lunch break, with only a few primarchs, who were already too far gone to ever save, lost. Also 2 and 11 would not be "erased".
@@Cemtexify well Leman didn't do wrong, he just followed horus's orders who at the time wasn't known to be corrupted. Sure Leman hated magnus, but he would not have burned prospero if he didn't think big E told him to do so.

Couple of questions: 1. The Eldar inherited the webway but they can't craft it right? So would that mean the Emperor was doing something that only the Old Ones did, i.e. make new pathways? 2. What is the Astronomican. People say it is the Emperor's light but it existed before he was interned on the Throne, and even while he was Crusading. Was it's light always relative to where he physically was or was it still centered on Terra. Also Is it really the Emperor's light or is he now just a lens where the choir of psykers energies are focused? There seemed to be a similar (nearly identical) thing in Ultima Segmentum in the Horus Heresy but it didn't require a powerful psyker like the Golden Throne did. Could it be that the seat of the throne is more about keeping the tear closed / maintaining the webway (had it not been destroyed) rather than the Astronomican?
I have always wondered if starships constantly punching holes in reality might have some detrimental effects in themselves. Perhaps the galaxy tearing in half might not have happened without so many weak points...
I think while the human webway was damaged by Magnus that it is most likely repaired or close to it by now. I think this because the emperor's personal guard are no longer protecting the home planet from demon incursions from the human webway. If the webway was still damaged there would be threat of demons pouring in still it would be a continuous and constant battle the custodis would not be able to go out into the wider Galaxy they would be too busy in the palace. I don't know if it's been readcond yet or not but there is possibility that Dorn disappeared into the Imperial Palace. I don't know if it's still holds true but there was one incident where the Emperor resurrected the iron hands primaris in the webway to help fight off demons. I think that the Emperor repaired the human webway and has been developing it as a contingency plan. I also think that he is using those two who specialize in building, constructing and engineering for some purpose in the webway. Perhaps for fortifying, perhaps to prepare it for all human population. Who knows? All I know is that the masochist knife ears webway is essentially a dimensional pocket version of a Dyson Sphere or Dyson swarm. It has a entire sun inside of it. With continent-sized and planet-sized areas just floating around it perhaps in multiple layers. I don't think the Emperor would think smaller than that. Especially considering this video points to the possibility that he was preparing a Galaxy spanning psychic weapon.
Possible, but given what we know it is rather unlikely. The damage done to the Webway project is always described as "irreparable" by more or less all available sources. Furthermore, since the Golden Throne itself is failing and no one in the Imperium knows how to fix it, the same should be a applicable to the Webway of which the Throne is an essential part of.
Da Wall they sealed the webway gate and had Vulcan hold it during the siege of terra. Dorn disappeared during a space battle, buying his sons time to escape and only left a hand for them to find afterward. He’s probably gonna be a returning primarch with leman Russ for the coming rule changes/reboot whatever they’re doing lol. The webway itself is not going to be a factor going forward though. Too dangerous to re-open and they couldn’t tame it during big E’s prime much less now

An interesting slightly different scenario would be what if Magnus had not projected himself but contacted big E by more mundane means what would have happened? Both to the webway project alone and to the wider universe?
Funny to think the Chaos Gods might have once viewed the Astronomicon as a potential psychic nuke just sitting within there realm waiting to destroy them if it ever all went off at once.
Totally agree about the Astronomicon being used as a psychic cannon against the Chaos gods themselves. I've been thinking about this hypothesis since I first read about the Astronomicon back in 88
The Eldar do not have the numbers to win a full scale war against the Imperium and they know it. I think it's more likely that the Eldar would try to establish peace with the Imperium in exchange for their expertise in maintaining the Terran Webway.
They don't need the numbers they have the means to people keep putting mankind on a high stool, they reason why they going go full warfare against is its both not worth it, nor does it accomplish anything. That and they are trying to survive not expand -
@@40KTheories Guardman: We have nearly finished mapping out the Webway, my lord. Emperor: Excellent. Anything else? Guardsman: Well...possibly. We've been receiving some strange readings as of late. (A few minutes later) Emperor: Astropath, contact the Warmaster. Tell him I have one last job for him.
I can see that a specialize offshoot of the Custodes or a chapter of psychic blanks would be created to counter the Eldar attacks on the Terran webways. Just imagine a Eldar charging up to one of these blanks ready to unleash some psychic storm only for it to deflect away... Uber pawning time!
I would love to see videos on redeeming daemon primarchs like in TTS and as to whether or not it's possible, also a video on turning loyalist primarchs
Here's another thing to consider: For the webway project to have been completed, it would have required Magnus to not fuck it up irreparably. If Magnus doesn't fuck up, then Leman would never have been sent to retrieve Magnus, so his orders would never been corrupted by Horus, so Magnus wouldn't have been knocked the fuck out for the rest of the heresy and have fallen to chaos. By not fucking up, there entirety of the heresy would have been 7 loyalists vs 5 traitors, completely changing the results, quite possibly saving Big E from entombment on the golden throne. With a functional webway, the weaponized astronomicon, 7 loyalist primearchs, and The Emperor still in his prime, humanity could very realisticly wipe out the eldar without any real issue and probably wreck the Dark Eldar's shit as well. This leaves humanity only with Orkz (definitely dangerous but limited in scope), Chaos Marines (Now short the Thousand Sons and thus less of a threat), and the Chaos Gods themselves (who now may have to deal with an active Emperor) to fend off in its conquest of the galaxy. A Terran Webway being completed neccesitates Magnus not fucking up, and if that prerequisite is met then humanity's future is truly brighter.
So, I assume the Emperor would have to know that severing mankind's connection to the warp, would simply mean severing mankind from its very souls and basically leave mankind an entire species of soulless husks and abominations? But then, we know the Emperor is a deranged sociopathic megalomaniac, ever since he cast out the Starchild part of his soul
No people living on any planet in the imperium can still be corrupted in the usual way. A completed webway only means they don’t need the warp for travel, it doesn’t sever humanity’s connection to chaos and the warp. See the elders mastered the webway and were still consumed by chaos. He just wanted to cut down travel time and danger (no geller fields etc.) it wouldn’t have severed man’s connection to the warp at all. Just an intergalactic interstate is all
@@tha8baller Yeah, the most that would occur is less people would die (lost in the Warp or Gellar Fields down) and fewer individuals would be corrupted by Chaos.
That's quite the exaggeration on the Emperor if i ever read one: other than Sociopathy he has never showcased any of the latter attributes. If the Emperor was a megalomaniac then Lorgar would have been his favourite son and the Imperial Truth would never existed. if he was deranged then he would have been blowning up worlds on a whim and serving Chaos as the master of the Galaxy/materium.
@@Unit-kp8wm Yeah seriously, what part of "I will be the leader of all humans in the galaxy and conduct a great crusade to purge all other species" is NOT the very definition of megalomania? Lol
This has a lot of IFs attached to it, but I believe that the Astronomican could have been used by the Emperor along with the aid of Malcador, Magnus, and several powerful librarians and imperial psykers to hurt Slaneesh enough for the Ynnari to reclaim the last sword needed to bring Ynnead to life. Together they would be able to destroy at least one chaos god and at the same time help the Aeldari. That is of course IF they would be willing to work together and IF they were willing to trade secrets.
I'm sure navigators would still be needed for a while, there is no way there is a webway portal on every planet and in every system that the Imperium has occupied.
Ah poor Magnus. First the failed audition for "Legend" and then having the entire heresy hung from his neck (much of the time) whan all he really wanted was a hug
I would think the Navis Nobilite would be used as Canaries in the Human Webway. More or less looking if their section of the Webway is stable and not in danger of collapsing. I wouldn't be surprised if Big E designed the Navis Nobilite with a secondary use of traveling the warp and their true use. They may also be designed as Pimps for Eldar Hookers due to their fashion sense.
Idk how directly responsible the Emperor was for the general doctrine of intolerance toward mutants but the possibility of a Navigator rebellion suddenly gives it a lot more context... basically had to ensure that independent action on their part was as difficult as possible (hard to imagine more baseline humans choosing to serve the navigators rather than the emperor... with or without prejudice...)
I feel like if there was a way to weaponize massed psychics to purge daemons from the warp, then the eldar definitely would’ve done it first. If anyone had the means and incentive to do so, it would be them.
Is there any reason that the powers that be couldn't install a giant Gellar field on the Webway tear? Or to try and open up another door to the Webway?
I understand how you can use the WebWay as hyperspace tunnels to travel through them, but I'll be damned if I understand how you can build entire cities (a la Commorragh) inside them? Or are those "cities" more like space stations??? Because that I can understand.
1 key issue you didn't address, the Emperor aimed to inter Magnus instead of him into the golden throne to power the webway. So there's an entire aspect to explore there
This video gave me an idea, is it in the Eldars best interest to simply gift humanity Webway technology? I know their egos would never allow it, but it might be a path to one day defeating Slaneesh and the chaos gods.
I'd say the best way to broker a peace between humanity and the Eldar would be through the resuce of Isha. Leman Russ and his honor guard who are currently traveling through the Warp looking for the "Tree of Life" are best equipped to survive the Garden of Rot where Nurgle keep the Eldar Goddess captive. This always bugged me how did the emperor keep the secret of demons and the chaos gods when the eye of terror is a thing. Did he just told them to go around this portion the galaxy and don't question anything anything that came out of it or did he just lie saying that any demon was just a mutant or xeno.
This is touched in... I think Horus Rising or False Gods. In Horus Rising, one of the Luna Wolfs got possesed by a demon of Nurgle and Loken 1v1 it, which caused him double depresion, one for having to kill his brother and other for "WTF was that". Horus had a talk with him about how there is nothing like Gods and demons, that what took control of his battle brother was just a parasite with warp nature we can't yet explain, but it definetly was not a god or demon. Which, to be honest, wasn't really wrong. Horus' mindset at that point was very similar to mindset of Fabius Bile - "There are no gods and demons... only men and monsters." EDIT: I am unsure as to when they had the talk. But the posession happened in the 1st book of the Heresy
Today is my birthday, thanks for the gift. Anyways, is there a possibility that Guilliman wants to weaponize or create web way? Has anyone except the Emperor attempt to do such things? Having Webway would be a game-changer for the Imperium.
I have a question, How would Humanity be cut off the warp by the completion of the Webway Project? By my basic understanding of the Webway, its a series of tunnels to travel through the Warp safely but only that, I don't remember anywhere that says that it allows Warp Protection or automatic Blankness. I remember some people saying that the Emperor wanted to move all of Humanity to the Webway using it as a barrier and let humanity prosper. I don't think that would be possible nor practical and I don't think the Emperor would like to abandon Terra.
You see, this just show the importance of communication within your organization. You tell everybody nothing, and now they find out their way instead of your way.
1. There is a good chance that the Webway tunnel is still infested with demons who still try to get through the closed gate. Unless those demons will move or are forcibly moved somehow there is no way of restarting the project. 2. Lack of accessways other than the gate in Terra. All entryways to the Imperial Webway corridor are sealed to prevent demons from infesting the rest of the Webway systems. Opening an accessway through Terra is too risky to try to force a way through that way. Counterpoint. Then again given Eldar-Imperial Alliance after Roboute Guilliman was healed there is a possibility that Imperials/Eldar can find other entryways that can be opened or aren´t sealed or destroyed during 10.000 years or so of ceaseless war. 3. Possible lack of experienced manpower and knowledge on how to repair it. Know how of Adeptus Mechanicus has stagnated greatly in 10 millennia so there is little chance of continuing work even if existing supports are still fixable. Counterpoint. It´s also possible that knowledge is somewhere in Imperial records or Mechanicus archives and given individual like Belisarius Cawl still lives it´s not that difficult to relearn how to restart/rebuilt the Webway project. 4. Reluctance. The last time they tried Chaos nearly gained access to the Imperial palace when the project was damaged during M31. If the project was restarted there is no reason to think that Forces of Chaos won´t learn about it and try to sabotage it again. Bonus: It took the ENTIRE army of Adeptus Custodes with the support of Sisters of Silence to simply keep Wepway open for a few years after it was preached. 5. Emperor. Emperor is the only individual who is still alive or still on the Imperial side who has the strength/ability to keep Webway corridor shielded from the Warp for extended periods of time and given his current state it would very risky to rely on his psychic power alone keep gate/corridor open and shielded.
Even if we disregard the machinations and schemes of the Emperor the sheer possibilities militarily and economically for the Imperium are unimaginable. Imagine fleets and astartes demi legions able to rapidly deploy to any hotzone within hours or days instead of months or years, hive and forge worlds with access to a virtually limitless resources through trade fleets rapidly plying the safe routes of the webway and with this commerce a better flow of knowledge between the forge worlds. Even if the forces of chaos remained a persistent threat it would have been an age of renaissance for the Imperium.
If there was to be conflict even war between the Eldar and the Imperium I honestly believe it would unite what's left of the Eldar resulting in a more aggressive action being taken to stop the imperium. - But that's just one outcome such things only bring challenge and ruin -
I really want Magnus from "If the Emperor had a text to speech device" to react to this XD and it constantly mentioning how its his fault. Infact Bone Daddy and little Rooster both need to react to this. XD
Could the navigators attack the imperial webway from warp space itself? either by convincing the crew of a ship it is a threat or even just navigating the ship into the webway? is there any suggestion that wither webway can be located in such a way?
It would appear to be unlikely, given that it exists in the veil between both universes (although it can be flooded with warp energy if damaged). I would imagine it'd be like trying to locate a grain of salt within a pile of sand.
@@40KTheories Cool, I figured the scale and turbulent nature of the warp would make it hard but I hadnt figured it exists in a "Grey" zone with talk of the original repelling the warp, I figured it needed that as it exists in warp space. thanks for the clarification though, makes the technology more interesting
The AdMech priests working on the Webway awfuly smells à posteriori, as proven by how inept his Map was (Marina Izarne even had the Emprah getting lost in it and stubbornly refusing to ask directions from Eldar, like a Real Man lol) and how Custodes and Tech-Priests accidently fall from it right into the Warp just by walking, long before reaching Magnus' Folly. Likelier it would have been the job of a successful psychic Legion of Astartes (TS were a failure even before Magnus due to Fleshchange) to build it ; and since Magnus is suspisciously alone, I made one.
Maybe navigators would become important members of governance for the Imperium. After all if they can navigate the realm that is the collective consciousness of all life, then I'm sure they can process information pretty well.
My own personal theory is that once the New Imperium of Mankind was set with a Alternate means of travel and communication (The Imperial Webway) that instead of there being a Purge, as it were, like using the Astronomican as a Warp EMP, Instead since they would no longer be needed, the Navigators, Astropaths and Probably a great many other Psyker beings (maybe even the Primarchs) Would be "Sacrificed" Within the Emperor to Sever or Create a barrier between the Warp and the Material plane. This would have the Effect of cutting off entirely or in a great part all Psyker beings in the material realm (Thus probably nerfing their powers back to very minor levels) But it would also sever the beings of Chaos in the Warp from their "Food source" entirely or in part. Yes this would screw over the other races (Especially the Eldar and Orcs who cannot really exist without their psyker powers) But Mankind not being completely dependent on Psyker power (Especially with a functional Webway of their own for travel and communication) would come out ahead (Which if you think is essentially the Emperor's deal anyway). Additionally this would cause the denzigns of Chaos to fall in amongst each other to fight over what little "Food source" there exists in the aftermath. essentially causing the Dark powers of that realm to rend each other apart till either they all die out or the last few who survived are stuck slowly starving to death. (There's a whole thing about the Warp being timeless that factors into this and deals with Fixed relative points in intersection with the material realm that would take a while to go into) Thus the Emperor would secure Humanity's Manifest destiny, spare it from the similar fate that affected the Aeldari, and kneecap the most dangerous species that could threaten the Imperium in the future. That at least is my own personal theory on what the plan would have been.
1) Magnus would never have turned traitor because he would have been on the chair 2) the wolves would have helped crush the rebellion because, as loathsome as they are, they are savage and competent warriors 🤷🏼♂️ 3) Chaos would have an exponentially lesser hold over the imperium if we weren’t traipsing through them at every opportunity 🤷🏼♂️
While I haven't read the books detailing this in the Horus Heresy yet, I have some awareness of it and my biggest question is one that wasn't answered here: how was the Emperor planning to guide humanity's ascendance to a psychic race if they existed solely in the Terran Webway? Very curious to know about that!
I’m thinking he would have moved humanity to within the webway to shield them from corruption. Or he would have left humanity in the galaxy at large and would have stepped up the Black Ship program to keep finding and controlling all human psykers. He would have personally guided all psychics to purity (similar to grey knights today) using runes and wards on the skin along with training / execution if they are weak. However the hubris of it all is so huge I’m sure something else would have gone wrong in the process. But read Master of Mankind, it’s the best book so far in the Horus heresy and they even give you a lot of insight into the emperor himself. Easily my favorite so far
Emperor: Well done Magnus. Magnus: Father I don't want to hear it. Emperor: What, that you dun messed up? Magnus: Yeah that. Emperor: Magnus, ya dun messed up big time.
I dont know, the connection from Terra to the Webway seems awful small. It would be quite a choke point on trade. I doubt the need for warp travel would be eliminated entirely, but it would serve as a convenient connection to worlds cut off by warp storms.
I’m kind of nervous how Warhammer will end. If Chaos is sustained through negative excessive energy, than they are out as the ones who would totally destroy the Imperium and the galaxy as they would cease to exist. So I wonder will it be Tyranids, Orks, or Necrons that will pose the greatest threat to humanity.
@@emperorkane317 Nah, too much money on the line to kill 40k like that. More likely are that they will have most the Primarchs return to the emperor, and then kick Chaos in the teeth. If I where to purely GUESS after that... welll shiet the Necrons are becoming a threat again and those chitin filled assholes in the form of the tyranids have been hyped, soooooo probable 3 way war?
Is everyone forgetting the blue space weeaboos I mean we saw what tech they have now after being ignore for 300 years if they continue to be ignored there's no telling what kind of crazy shit they're going to have
Maybe after the Emperor succeeded in the Webway project he would reach out to Eldrad Ulthuan and they would strike a deal: Eldar psychers would boost Emps' for his Warp purging Astronomicon whilst the Imperium would purge Commoragh for the Eldar and a mutually agreeable usage of the Webway would be established between the Eldar and Mankind.
I'm curious if the Navigators might have been reassigned from a logistical organization that accommodated warp travel for all purposes of FTL travel into an offensive, militant one, tasked with guiding attacks on the forces of chaos on their home turf in the warp. Humanity would be less vulnerable and this more able to go on the offensive. The astronomicon would be a superweapon for use in the warp. Why not a military force to assist that purge?
So... it this where the Ynnari plot-line culminates in the future -- with the Emperor's return + the manifestation of the god Ynnead -- and a yuge crusade to invade the WARP and purge the chaos gods?
Agreed, I think magnus gets the short end of the stick. He did what he felt was right and ended up fucking everything up. He’s like the Ben Stiller character of 30k

It is important to remember that the Golden Throne was intended to be paired with the Silver Throne in "The Path of Heaven".

This war would be at the Aeldari advantage initially due to their familiarity with the webway, but the sheer numbers and resources of the Imperium and the constant attacks of their psyche & souls from Slannesh would prove their undoing
With the completion of a terran webway portal, Mankind could deal with Orkish uprisings faster and quell them.
Thanks again for the video.

That is the true reason Magnus legion is called thousand sons, the throne needs a thousand pyskers to work
All the Emperor had to do was tell Malcador about the Webway project.
The one who detonated the "Dark Glass" was doing the secret order of the Emperor, because it shouldn't get in to the hand of Horus.

Couple of questions:
Poor Magnus was just doing his best :(
I feel so sorry for magnus in trying to warn his farther he unleashed so much terror
What an incompetent bastard. In all seriousness Magnus was screwed.
Magnus did nothing wrong
A very extremely awesome video as always 40k Theories.
And then the Drukhari ruin it for them all by "forgetting" any treaty that may be implemented x3
They don't need the numbers they have the means to people keep putting mankind on a high stool, they reason why they going go full warfare against is its both not worth it, nor does it accomplish anything. That and they are trying to survive not expand -
Biel Tan isn't aware of it at all.
@@40KTheories Guardman: We have nearly finished mapping out the Webway, my lord.
Emperor: Excellent. Anything else?
Guardsman: Well...possibly. We've been receiving some strange readings as of late. It almost seems like there's a city in this area of the Webway. But that's simply absurd. Don't you agree, my Emperor?
Emperor: Indeed....excuse me.
(A few minutes later)
Emperor: Astropath, contact the Warmaster.
The title could be change to : “what if magnus doesn’t fuck up”
Here's another thing to consider:
For the webway project to have been completed, it would have required Magnus to not fuck it up irreparably.
The Emperor became this close to overthrowing the Grimdark in a grimdark setting.
Lol

I do like the idea of the web way opening from Terra to a deamon world so it can be psychically nuked by the Emperor using the astronomicon
"You are correct, its all magnus's fault as I am perfect like a god but am also not a god." -Emperor of Mankind, TTS, 4199(?)
I'm sure navigators would still be needed for a while, there is no way there is a webway portal on every planet and in every system that the Imperium has occupied.
agreed
I feel how the Emperor felt when his greatest project was terribly messed up by Magnus
Ah poor Magnus. First the failed audition for "Legend" and then having the entire heresy hung from his neck (much of the time) whan all he really wanted was a hug
If the webway project had been completed, Horus and the traitors would have lost the war.
I like the idea of using the Astrinomicon as a massive psychic nuke.
And to think, all the Emperor had to do was _tell his kids what he was going to be up to before he ghosted them all_ .
If only the emperor had thought to tell Magnus what he was doing.
This is interesting.
If Horus didnt do what he did, WebWay would be incredibly helpful to the Imperium
So there's an entire aspect to explore there
What if Magnus was told about his purpose and was brought to Terra with the Emperor?
Thanks for the vid sir.👍🏼👍🏼
This video gave me an idea, is it in the Eldars best interest to simply gift humanity Webway technology? I know their egos would never allow it, but it might be a path to one day defeating Slaneesh and the chaos gods.
I'd say the best way to broker a peace between humanity and the Eldar would be through the resuce of Isha. Leman Russ and his honor guard who are currently traveling through the Warp looking for the "Tree of Life" are best equipped to survive the Garden of Rot where Nurgle keep the Eldar Goddess captive.
Horus' mindset at that point was very similar to mindset of Fabius Bile - "There are no gods and demons... only men and monsters."
EDIT: I am unsure as to when they had the talk. But the posession happened in the 1st book of the Heresy
@@chaoslance4959 I mean horus isn't wrong; demons are basically parasites that live mostly in the warp
Go around that big swirly demon thing, it's a space pothole that will wreck your rims - Big E
Today is my birthday, thanks for the gift. Anyways, is there a possibility that Guilliman wants to weaponize or create web way? Has anyone except the Emperor attempt to do such things? Having Webway would be a game-changer for the Imperium.
Happy birthday :)
I like that, the Emperor using the Astronomicon against the Chaos Gods. Can’t wait till Black Library put that one in the books
If the webway had been completed, then we'd be asking about Omegon instead.
You see, this just show the importance of communication within your organization. You tell everybody nothing, and now they find out their way instead of your way.
Who says it still can’t be done?
Big E's dream still lives on.
Name one human with the knowledge to build it. Or as a matter of fact, name one entity other than perhaps one of the chaos gods.
Impossible it is a forgot project and I swear if the imperium is somehow able to BS get webway access then half of the imperium should be destroyed.
Mostly the Emperor. He gave up on it and focused on the heresy instead.
I love your music!!
If there was to be conflict even war between the Eldar and the Imperium I honestly believe it would unite what's left of the Eldar resulting in a more aggressive action being taken to stop the imperium. - But that's just one outcome such things only bring challenge and ruin -
I like to imagine there'd be a splinter group of humans who call themselves the tunnelsnakes
Ordering an exterminatus on an entire dimension? Sounds imperial enough.
What a great "What If" video!
Maybe navigators would become important members of governance for the Imperium. After all if they can navigate the realm that is the collective consciousness of all life, then I'm sure they can process information pretty well.
what about just taking over the existing webway and relocating "power centers" to webway gate locations?
one of my favorite ideas to explore
*Astronomicon put on standby*
Emps: Enhance!
*Astronomicon focuses into a laser beam blasting into the warp over and over*
My own personal theory is that once the New Imperium of Mankind was set with a Alternate means of travel and communication (The Imperial Webway) that instead of there being a Purge, as it were, like using the Astronomican as a Warp EMP, Instead since they would no longer be needed, the Navigators, Astropaths and Probably a great many other Psyker beings (maybe even the Primarchs) Would be "Sacrificed" Within the Emperor to Sever or Create a barrier between the Warp and the Material plane.
(There's a whole thing about the Warp being timeless that factors into this and deals with Fixed relative points in intersection with the material realm that would take a while to go into)
Thus the Emperor would secure Humanity's Manifest destiny, spare it from the similar fate that affected the Aeldari, and kneecap the most dangerous species that could threaten the Imperium in the future. That at least is my own personal theory on what the plan would have been.
1) Magnus would never have turned traitor because he would have been on the chair
2) the wolves would have helped crush the rebellion because, as loathsome as they are, they are savage and competent warriors 🤷🏼♂️
3) Chaos would have an exponentially lesser hold over the imperium if we weren’t traipsing through them at every opportunity 🤷🏼♂️
What if the ambush at Calth failed? (Please include both scenarios of if the Rune strom happens and one where it doesn't. )
Chaos wins, galaxy explodes, GW makes an AoS version of 40k. Or, Warhammer Adventures becomes the central story
The only way Warhammer would end on any positive note would be with the revival of the Emperor, possibly with the help of Isha?
@@emperorkane317 Nah, too much money on the line to kill 40k like that. More likely are that they will have most the Primarchs return to the emperor, and then kick Chaos in the teeth. If I where to purely GUESS after that... welll shiet the Necrons are becoming a threat again and those chitin filled assholes in the form of the tyranids have been hyped, soooooo probable 3 way war?
Chaos won in Fantasy, they should let Mankind win in 40k. Hopefully, if GW brings back more loyalist Primarchs, that will be the case
Is everyone forgetting the blue space weeaboos I mean we saw what tech they have now after being ignore for 300 years if they continue to be ignored there's no telling what kind of crazy shit they're going to have
Maybe after the Emperor succeeded in the Webway project he would reach out to Eldrad Ulthuan and they would strike a deal: Eldar psychers would boost Emps' for his Warp purging Astronomicon whilst the Imperium would purge Commoragh for the Eldar and a mutually agreeable usage of the Webway would be established between the Eldar and Mankind.
ehh thats a dream
I'm curious if the Navigators might have been reassigned from a logistical organization that accommodated warp travel for all purposes of FTL travel into an offensive, militant one, tasked with guiding attacks on the forces of chaos on their home turf in the warp. Humanity would be less vulnerable and this more able to go on the offensive. The astronomicon would be a superweapon for use in the warp. Why not a military force to assist that purge?
So... it this where the Ynnari plot-line culminates in the future -- with the Emperor's return + the manifestation of the god Ynnead -- and a yuge crusade to invade the WARP and purge the chaos gods?
was the imperial webway project just a bunch of geller field generators strung together in series?
I'm not sure Magnus would have liked being told that his whole purpose in life was to be a D battery.
He'd still find a way to mess things up.
40K Theories #Magnus did nothing wrong
Indeed, Magnus did nothing wrong.
Agreed, I think magnus gets the short end of the stick. He did what he felt was right and ended up fucking everything up. He’s like the Ben Stiller character of 30k
