    I am so glad I found your channel! I am planning to make a Pelican Tote this weekend and was hoping I could find a good tutorial on how to do the recessed zip. Thank you!! 😘

    This is a great tutorial, your teaching style is so calming. I'm just about to make this tote bag, it will be my first time using faux leather, and you've given me the confidence to go for it. All your tips and tricks along the way are so helpful. Thank you so much for leaving in your mistake, and showing that all sewers make mistakes no matter their level of experience. 😊

    Thank you Brandi! I love the Pelican tote, almost looks like the EDT, I have made several pelicans and a lot more EDT since it is a favourite of my clients! I was struggling how to put my exterior into my lining for the zipper to be on the right side to open left to right! I always ended up taking out my stitches and then putting it the other side! Now I saw how you put it and will refer to your video! 😂 thank you ❤️

      Hi Jeremiah! I cannot give out the measurements but they are in the pattern :) there is a fancy tote add on pattern on the Bagstock page that has them :)

      Pelican tote pattern? The fancy version was an add on but you need the original to make it work .

    What vinyl do you use, and where do you get it?

    • @brandyjackson-beansbags
      @brandyjackson-beansbags  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! This vinyl was this fabricville.com/products/daytona-vinyl-black. I also buy my vinyls and Emmaline Bags and Galaxy Kustoms

  • @bikergirl7823
    @bikergirl7823 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for a great tutorial. I was wondering, when you flip over and follow the previous stitch line, do you run the risk of perforating the vinyl too much. Thanks

    • @brandyjackson-beansbags
      @brandyjackson-beansbags  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lynn! I have never had that issue :) i guess it may depend on the quality of hour vinyl. I usually use a marine vinyl

    Why leave both the interior pocket bottom AND the lining bottom open for turning? Wouldn’t one be enough?

    • @brandyjackson-beansbags
      @brandyjackson-beansbags  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I turn through the bottom, but pull the opening in lining through the opening of pocket to sew shut so you don’t get that ridge at the bottom of the bag :)

    The fancy strap direction says to cut the strap 3.5” X 30”. The regular strap is 4” X 25”. Did you cut your straps 3.5 “ or 4”, and then fold them? Thanks. Great video.

    • @brandyjackson-beansbags
      @brandyjackson-beansbags  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s been awhile since I made this, it both would work fine! I usually do the 4” to have a 1”
      Strap which is my preference

    Hi, Brandy, I’m following you on making this tote, and everything has been very clear up constructing the exterior panels, but now that I’m to the foam interfacing part, I don’t see anything in the pattern about it. Is there a pattern piece? I was hoping you would show how you added it. Thank you in advance for your response!

    • @brandyjackson-beansbags
      @brandyjackson-beansbags  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh I just took my exterior pieces and cut the foam to the same size :)

    • @brandyjackson-beansbags
      @brandyjackson-beansbags  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So once front panel done, laid it onto foam and cut it out then basted it together with a long stitch

    • @brandyjackson-beansbags
      @brandyjackson-beansbags  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Page 6 of the pattern I believe :)

    • @LAKatKreations
      @LAKatKreations 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandyjackson-beansbags page 6 just says to pin the interfacing to the wrong sides of the exterior panels and baste around them using a 1/4” seam allowance. They probably assume we know to use the constructed panels as the “pattern.” Anyway, thank you so much for your help! 💜

    • @brandyjackson-beansbags
      @brandyjackson-beansbags  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok. If you find my Gracie tutorial and go to the 25 minute mark, I show how I attach the foam :) hope that helps!

    What marking tool do you use? I’ve been using friction pens but they don’t last very long. Average about one pen per bag.
