Roger is the catalyst here. He's so anxous to have Jeannie all to himself, he plays her and "Master" against each other. In essence, he explains to each that the other is "running amuck". Those words come back to nail him at the end.
Anyone else realize how awful Roger is? He schemes to turn them against each other. He steals her and then completely overuses her abilities. He’s creepy towards almost all women and when he did date Jeannie he was very clingy and pressuring.
Honestly, I think they just needed him to be "that guy" in order to drive the action of this episode. Roger is greedy, yes. But he is a very good friend to Tony and Jeannie and shows it several times all throughout the series. He was somewhat out of character in this episode.
HOW? Jeannie was doing all these things to him, and she never wanted to leave his side. And Doctor Bellows was breathing down his neck, trying to figure out what the big secret Tony was hiding from him. 😉
I wish one of the networks would reboot this show but Major Nelson's character would be a cruise ship captain (Florida), or an accountant, other than an Astronaut.
We've seen time and again that *Jeannie* is the REAL "master" in Tony's house- and over "Master" as well. She might act like a "traditional" genie- but if she doesn't like something he does {like his attempts at seeing other women}, or try to help him despite his insistence on not NEEDING any help, or is angry enough to actually DO something "nasty" to him.......she'll *DO* it!
And yet, he berates himself at the end for trying to force Jeannie into behaving like a "real" genie (as the book suggests). He says to her, very apologetically, "Whren you care about someone- I mean, when you *really* care about someone- you don't try to change them. You take the bad with the good, and be thankful for what you've got. And I forgot to be thankful. And I'm sorry."

She’s like an innocent child, totally naive of the human world after being locked up inside her bottle for 2,000+ years! Yes, she OFTEN causes trouble for Tony with her overeager use of her magic, but she clearly loves Major Nelson more than anything else in the world, and she always learns how to clean up the mess she makes with her magic!
I loved Dr B. He added so much to the show.

Barbara Eden is the star of the show, but Larry Hagman was great in his role. Tony's interactions with the other characters are hilarious.
So awesome. It reminds of 10. Or 15 years old.
