I've been training dogs for 5 years and that's exactly how I would train puppies. Alex and Dan are doing such a great job on training this puppy👌🏻 keep it up
MissHoney Bri i have some questions about my new dog in getting i know u commented a year ago but i hope you can help, during the day should he be able to roam most of the house/ the main level and when i lay him out to use the bathroom should he be on a leash? ( i’m getting a golden btw)
Emma Sage I know this was 11months ago but, I think if you dog like runs away just try potty training. If he/she doesn’t it’s fine without the leash because it might be uncomfortable. Like they don’t have room to go, And dogs like to pick their right spot.
I'm a vet tech and I wanna say that Boo is fine going outside before vaccines as long as he's away from other dogs! Your yard is totally fine and you guys keep a good eye on him so I wouldn't worry about him getting sick. Also good job with crate training! Good job with training so far in general really. You guys are doing an awesome job. One thing I will say is instead of rawhide bones, get marrow bones instead! Marrow bones are much better! Good luck you guys, you're awesome puppy parents already!💗

When my dog was teething & would bite us we would say "ow" & pretend like it really hurt so she knew not to bite us! Now that's she's 2, she will play rough with her "dad" and get mouthy with him. But she knows she can't do that with me or other people because it hurts & she can only be rough with my husband. (He likes to play rougher so that's their thing lol) Also crate training is so good! My dog loved her crate as a puppy and would put herself in it for naps and bed time and wouldn't freak out when we put her in there when we left. Noe that she's older and trained, we don't put her in her crate when we leave because we trust her, but she still goes in their by herself daily for naps and to get away 😁 You guys are doing such a great job, boo is so sweet ❤
Really quickly, I just wanted to say that anytime someone posts a video of them getting a dog or a pet, everyone suddenly becomes a veterinarian. Ignore those people, do what feels right, and *only* talk to your vet. If I were you, I wouldn't even read the comments because the majority of the "advice" comes from people who say they're good with pets, they have dogs, they are trained, etc. - but they could be totally lying. It's the Internet. But yeah, love you guys, Boo is so cute, and have lots of fun!

From experience with Golden's, they're really good as puppy's. Sure, they might chew on you and such but they don't really ever chew on anything else or make a huge mess. You do need a structured time when it comes to feeding and also using the washroom. What we did was woke up every 2/3 hours and brought her outside to use the washroom. That way she won't make as many accidents inside until she was more potty trained. They also love to cuddle and the sofa/bed is their heaven!
He is so wonderful :) He loves his crate and he loves to cuddle! We've been feeding him every morning at 630, then at 1230 for lunch, and then 630 for dinner and it seems to be going really well! He usually going to the bathroom right after eating and right after sleeping so he hasn't had any accidents now that we've had him on this schedule :)

People always told me what to do when raising my kitten (thought i know it's not as intense as dogs) but i trusted myself and he's turned into the cutest, most affectionate cat ever. He waits for me at the door everyday and he tries to talk to me haha. Pets are awesome :)
Boo is adorable! He's going to be a great friend! I found the best toys for teething for my golden was the Kong brand toys. They last for years and they can't destroy them. Be careful with the rawhides. They can choke them or get caught in the stomach if a large piece is swallowed. It doesn't easily digest. I got my golden at 10 weeks and he's seven yes now. I would have a whole golden family if I could. Enjoy!

If you already see a doctor/psychologist for your anxiety, you can have them write you a letter/prescription stating you need an emotional support animal, and then you can take him with you wherever. You just have to carry a copy of the letter/prescription with you wherever you go in case someone asks! That method doesn't require training! However, that is in America, so I am not sure if its the same in Canada, but I would definitely check into it and see if it's an option!

I wanted to tell you that I think you two are doing a fantastic job. I trained my dogs exactly like you are and the crate training will work for your dog perfectly. When my dogs got older, they loved using their crates. The only time they were locked in crate, when they were older, was when we were camping or at someone’s home and they never seemed to mind. I saw someone suggested service animal but you could also have Boo become a therapy dog if you want. It doesn’t change the dog’s personality, in fact, the dogs need to have the right personality to begin with. My cocker was a therapy dog in a group that 90% of the dogs were Goldens. They make excellent therapy dogs.

Adorable!! Goldens are the best, had one make it to 12 years ❤️ enjoy him while he is this size! They grow so fast! You should try making it a habit to play w/ his paws it will make it more likely that he won't mind getting his nails trimmed when he's older. And petting him and touching his food bowl while he eats can help eliminate food aggression incase you get another dog or when you have children! 👍🏻

I noticed that comment about not bringing the pup outside too, but that's not something I've ever heard before. All I've heard is that you shouldn't let it meet other dogs until they've had all vaccinations, which is true and important info. It's perfectly fine to let your dog go outside on your yard, how else are you going to train him that that's were they poo and pee. We had our pup in a crate at night too, so he would feel safe and sleep without walking around all night. We had a soft crate so eventually he figured out how to open it by scratching the zipper 😂
I saw some comments talking about the rawhide bones and a good alternative to them is Sam's yams rawhide dog treats! They're sweet potato and they're great for teething/dental health and they're easy to digest :) Suddenly everyone is an expert in dogs so I'm sorry you guys have to deal with being told how to raise your puppy. But enjoy the puppy smell while it lasts :(

A good youtuber to watch for dog tips is Zak George, he was super helpful! Also for a healthier option for bones, try like bully sticks or pig ears. We use that for our puppy and she loves them, great for teething!
Also if you want good soft toys/animals for the dog that won't break easily, go to ikea! The plushies in the child section are great, they're the only ones my dog haven't destroyed haha
I was lucky with my puppy he never bit hard, was really careful and only ever stole and chewed on socks. While my brother's dog chewed up furniture and on walls even haha.
alyssa michele try the plushies from ikea! My dog destroyed everyone of his other plushies, but not those we bought from IKEA, and they don't have any hard plastic or that type of hair that they like to rip off on them. :)
I know you guys are being careful and you probably already thought about it but just in case, I would keep an eye on him with the simba toy, my dog used to gouge out those plastic eyes and actually ate a few of them when he was a puppy Obsessed with Boo by the way 😍😍
I don't know if this has been commented before, I'm sorry if it has, but sticks can actually hurt your dog's mouth, because they can can get splinter in their gums or choke on them, so be careful when you play with boo with a stick! 🙏🏻
