The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.
I was fishing out of La Jolla on my kayak using the drop shot with a white grin curly tail. Hooked into a massive bat ray. Fun fight. Disappointing to see it wasn’t a fish. Still fun tho
You lost the big one bc you didn’t keep tension after that yank keep that rod tip up n keep reeling. I’m talking like this bc all I do is fish for summer flounder and nothing else. Love your content keep doing you bro!
Excellent video as always. I have been using "Drop shoting" since I was a wee lad. Long before I knew it had a name. Works just about everywhere I have fished. Keep up the good work, you will figure out the variables on your own. Can't wait to see when you do. As always, stay safe.
The same thing happened to me 2 months ago as I was drop shoting for Halibuts, a 12 Pound Batray took my Berkeley gulp and took me up and down the beach.
Great Video. Really appreciate your content and I have learned a ton. Set up video's are rad, your Perch and Striper set up videos were extremely helpful. They have saved me a ton of time and money trying to do it that on my own. Knowing the basics like reel size, rod length/action and easy jig/bait set ups was huge. Would love to hear about your rod/reel(s) set ups for the Kayak.
Man, same thing happened to me last week, was trolling a paddle tail and hooked a very large sting Ray, thought I had snagged the bottom, took 10 min to get it to the surface. Caught a 28 inch red drum just before the sting Ray, that had me thinking I had a massive one on.
Yump! I've been watching your videos since you begin and I have to say you have became a good angler. I've been out kayak fishing twice now and realize I love it but my arms don't, so no I want to get a fish-pro jet ski so I can get out there with the guys.

Those rays are a blast when you fish for them on purpose too.
This is why you always take that one extra big pole a big stingray is a good catch fsct for me that is cool as hell
need a bell on the hidden rod, just a little one, love your vids
Cool idea for your video. Thanks for posting!
How the heck did this Stingray eat my drop shot?
- THE OCEAN ALWAYS WINS
Good effort!
Bay ray.

Great video thank you for sharing!!!
I fish drop shot in malibu along kelp line and deep in the kelp. It works great.

Hello. I'm a 43 year old quadriplegic from Tn. I only watch you your vids when I'm high. What you do in that little kayak blows my mind, good buddy.
... how does a quadriplegic type out in the comments?..
@@GKXPress with their eyes
@@GKXPress Mouthstick
What do you call a quadriplegic that fishes? A quadra-pelagic
@@GKXPress smart guy…google b4 you ask a dumb ass question like that.
What happened to the kayak with the trolling motor ??
Beautiful
Amd it’s a bat ray cool ass catch tho sting rays are different
That was awesome
Adam!!! Waddup brother
What kind of radio do you have hooked on your shirt ? Thanks
Rays and seals are always a bummer. Great workout tho
Deff a bat ray. Good eating if you know how to prepare and cook it
Rays are a fun fight, but frustrating. Fought one for 40 mins in the bay, hoping it was a nice halibut before it finally surfaced.
Where were you fishing at?
probably a bat ray
In norcal humboldt bay, we use swimbaits/dropshots over live bait. Always catch more halibut on artificials.
Do catch n cook
shark park
If a halibut is bleeding after digging the hook out and it's not legal size do you release it?
GOOD EXERCISE !!!!!!!!!
Great video bro! Would be awesome to see some setup videos to learn from
I think that was a California Bat Ray, Myliobatis californica and not a sting ray. Nice day on the water.
Correct on the bat ray
Classic!
That was pretty cool I've Caught stingray from The land never from a Kayak
I used to spearfish a lot as well as fish my float tube off Malibu and Ventura! Got some nice fish! I’m 61 and can’t do it anymore but it was fun.
Geez Jeff you're only a youngster like me. I'm 60.
THAT SOUNDES LIKE A SONG ......CLEAN IN THE INSIDE CREAM ON THE OUTSIDE . ICE CREAM PAINT JOB 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

don't be afraid to use a jig with bait as the weight on the end, up your catch
Especially in weedy areas. Your bait can be right above the weeds. I know a Saltwater lake with introduced pest weed about 12 inches tall.
Keep up the great work bro!
have you catch a fish so big that it drag your kayak around?
Go out to between 45 and 60 feet of water right where you were at. You'll get keepers all day long right there. That's my go to spot.
Love you trying different fishing tactics.
again, nice video. How do you like that floating bait container? Been looking at this brand, instead of a Hobie bait tank...
That backwards cast tho 👌
No food for the table but that was quite a fight.
The same thing happened to me 2 months ago as I was drop shoting for Halibuts, a 12 Pound Batray took my Berkeley gulp and took me up and down the beach.
been seeing a lot of porpoise along that beach…you seeing any? sharks?
Just a sting ray? It gave you a helluva fight! Nothing wrong wit that! Just don't want to eat it or get stung!
outstanding video quality, great job adam thats why i enjoy your vids super clear and clean, and way ahead of others! no disrespect meant too others.
Disrespect taken
just checked out your vid. outstanding clarity great fish well done !@@HideshiIzu
Drop shot is a beautiful thing
From fresh to sea drop shot hooks fish indeed !
That happened to me I was using a swim bait and hooked a damn 80lb batray! I had my drag all the way right and still almost spooled me out.
The rays are fun to fight, even if it’s not what you want.
Lol you were well overdue to snag a ray
Do you run a shark shield??? For someone that spends so a lot of time on the water, I’d sure like to see sone great white footage.
Lit!!!
i dont like catching them bat rays and stingrays
I think you are on to something drop shotting halibut
It’s a common technique in socal
@@LettuceLand never knew that
Epic troll....lol
love your videos bro. wish I could be there.
Great videos brother! I'd love to see some set up videos! Anything I can learn from!

Seconded. Without someone to teach you, the basics can take you years to learn, if at all and Adam is a great teacher.
Never seen someone troll a fluke, I guess it makes sense cause it’s bouncing up and down when the kayak moves with the swell
Man, same thing happened to me last week, was trolling a paddle tail and hooked a very large sting Ray, thought I had snagged the bottom, took 10 min to get it to the surface. Caught a 28 inch red drum just before the sting Ray, that had me thinking I had a massive one on.
That happened with my friend on the kayak last year, he caught a 50lb bat ray and we thought it was a halibut and we were freaking out 😂
Bat ray, wah wah.
You could catch sardines and I would still watch all your videos. You are such a cool dude. Thank you!
