Dude! Hands down the THE best shading tutorial on the net. Even better imo than those costly tattoo courses "taught by world class tattoo artist". I LOVE how you explained what, when, and how you'll best use these shading techniques for. Most ppl just say "ok I'm doing this pendulum stoke here", but never say why they are doing that
I'm learning so much from this channel! I'm one of those really non artistic guys, but I'm learning how to do simple tattoos and I need to be shown how to do something. This is amazing. Thanks Brandon!
Thank you, I’ve watched so many of your videos and I’ve been practicing on fake skin using your advice, I outlined a flower last night and while it’s not the best, it’s definitely not the worst. Practice makes perfect and your videos keep me motivated :)
Finally! In the german tattoo community they usually make a big secret out of the techniques.. Mostly telling you to become an apprentice to an artist. - Which is easier said than done over here. Thanks alot, subscribed for sure! Greets from germany.
I just started my tattooing career and shading has been giving me a hard time but after watching this video and the different techniques of shading i think imma do much better ..thanksss soo much
Sir. I’m disabled vet, ex military contractor and retired deputy sheriff, now tattooist. 😂. You make it so easy and I thank you for that sir. Keep em coming.
Great video thank you!! Perhaps I missed it but some info on voltage and stroke length would be very helpful!! I learning shading right now and so far I’ve had decent results running at 6 volts with a 2.8mm stroke.
@@byancafigueroa3941 yeah! i'm seeing a lot of improvement. it's getting easier. i just started doing them on myself lol. how about you?? :) hope it's going well!!!
Its definitely helping get through whatever I'm going through at this moment.....i haven't tattooed in about a year because of things beyond my control and you articulate and explain things I thought I forgot in the simplest form. KEEP IT UP 💯
Years later and this guy is still helping Noobs (like me) how to start out with some good quality tattoos, thank you so much for all the knowledge you’ve shared over the years, I’ll be watching it all🙏🏼
I really appreciate these videos man. Instructions are clear and easy to understand and it’s great having visual examples to work with. Just started learning how to run my machine and this is extremely helpful
Would like to start off saying that I hardly ever comment on anything on TH-cam but this video helped me out so much I had to say something. It has help me so much. Thank you
I came from PMU background but I was always drawn to tattooing. Tried few on friends and fam but that’s where the journey stopped… :( I’m so happy to join your 10 day course! Your tutorials r best I’ve ever found online. Let it happen 🥳
your tutorials feels like a bob ross vibes 😁😊 it makes me calm and understand easily. 😊 this kind of videos we need espcly for beginners cause it explaines so clear. Keep on posting videos. Thank u so much! 😊
I learned alot of trying to perfect my skills its just hard from how I started in prison to now my machines are old but cause we went thru a big pandemic I had to work twice as hard. My machines are out dated but I takes me twice as long and harder and heavier. I thank you for helping with my skill . I dont want to give up!
I'm new to tattooing and I've found your videos very, very helpful. Loved this video. Hopefully, I can finish what I'm doing on myself and show you! 😁👌🏼🤪
Thanks for the helpful information in using different techniques and motions and knowing what terms they are too. In just that video alone that you did for us,helped me answer some of the questions I had for techniques but never did the other ppl or videos showed what you did with actual explanation u know. So with that said, thank you and it was much appreciated bro. 🤜 💯
thank you for this terrific video, i hope you make another to talk about how you set up your ink.. and also how you do to blend in the outlining within the shading process, so that it wouldn't appear later, i mean to look rather closer to realistic.. thank you in advance
If you're talking about realism I don't think realism tattoos use heavy lines it's just different tones, one of the reasons it's so hard. Humans aren't made up of hard lines just contrasting shadows.
Just discovered your channel. People have been telling me I should tattoo because of my art so my girl bought me a tattoo gun and I'm starting the journey.
I pretty sure it's because the primary objective of the video is learning about wip & pendulum shading. There's a separate video on how to fill ink caps for shading.
Thx a lot making these Typ of Videos ! This Video helps me so many to learn Shade a smoth Transition! Now i know to buy bugpin curved mags and the whip and pendulum technik and voila it comes to a very smoth Transition ! Thx for Your content, you save a lot ppl from do it wrong! Not sure if you have it in a different video, but would you be able to explain the drops? You mentioned 3 drops and 6 drops. I would love to understand what that pertains to. Thanks!!!

@@byancafigueroa3941 yeah! i'm seeing a lot of improvement. it's getting easier. i just started doing them on myself lol. how about you?? :) hope it's going well!!!
Same i even bought a bunch of fake skins and still dont use them just use ly entire leg , i pretty much have a calf sleeve !…
At what voltage did you work? Do you use different voltages for each shading tecnique? Thank you 💜
Following!! Bc I came to ask the same question
Good question
I'm my opinion, it kind of varies. When I pack I use 7.0 shading I use lower like 6.5 or even 5.0. That's just me tho.
Great advice watched this video and immediately got better results!
Glad it helped!
Its definitely helping get through whatever I'm going through at this moment.....i haven't tattooed in about a year because of things beyond my control and you articulate and explain things I thought I forgot in the simplest form. KEEP IT UP 💯

Question: what voltage is your power supply on when shading? Also how far out do we put our needle when shading typically? Does that matter?
Voltage for shading is usually between 8 and 10
This is what I missed out..would be much better if include what voltage used.. but still love the content..
