The more I see these Videos where the Spice Girl’s vocals are isolated, it seems like more and more people are realizing Victoria was a secret weapon in the group. While she may not have the loudest or most “recognizable” voice in the group she blends and transforms her voice between the highs and lows almost to the point that we always think it’s another group member. She’s underrated.
Right? She's the only person who's actually singing every line of the chorus whereas most of them alternate with Mel C, but you wouldn't even have known she was there just listening to the song straight
Victoria and geri and Mel c had the middle note most of the time and carried it... Victoria always remembered how to sing right under Emma's note, or match noted with Mel c she was amazing

The girls' very different approach to phrasing during the verses is so, so interesting. I assume the girls and the producers wanted to create dynamics within the verses, as they are all singing in unison. Mel B's singing is very sharp and staccato, whereas, Geri and Victoria's approach is more of a rolling, sustained sound. Not sure if this makes sense to anyone else? 😅🤓
Yes totally, I really love how Mel B is purposely more rhythmical in the verses while Emma's vocals are more legato. I guess Geri and Victoria are more like a vocal pad delivering the melody. You hardly can tell when you're listening the four of them singing together.

Emma sings the extremely high voice that outlines the chords on that part. There’s a video of them on a talk show about this year’s reunion where they sing this song acapella on the spot. Emma starts off with her part and the others gradually join in. I was impressed as they did a good job! Check it out on TH-cam sometime.
Yes, I do believe it is a 3 part harmony for 5 of them when they sang together. I think Sporty and Baby shared Soprano, Posh and Ginger shared Alto and Scary took the Tenor. Yeah, sometimes Posh sang Tenor and Scary sand Alto. Both Sporty and Baby are Sopranos where as the others are Mezzos.
Victorias Arriba made that song even better!!! Such a fun song!!!! I always feel like its a song to sing with all your friends and just jump around be happy and scream. Love their energy. It was so unique.

Victoria can do low harmony.... but some people think it was Mel B. I know for some of their songs, Victoria do low harmony while Mel B do the lead/other part harmony.
Yeah, Victoria for some reason gets a lot of flak for not being a good singer. And while she's not exactly cut out to be a solo singer (IMO most of them aren't, except for Melanie C, not too surprisingly she's also the only member who still has an ongoing solo music career) she's actually not that bad when singing in harmony. Many of the lower harmonies in their songs were actually sung by Victoria not Mel B, which is what many people often assume. Interesting fact: Mel B and Geri apparently got into a few arguments over this. Supposedly Mel B felt Victoria sang too little on their songs and wanted her to sing some of the parts that were usually relegated to Geri.
Mel b was usually the bass vocalist in the band wheiras victoria was able to hit both the bass and tenor vocals this resulted in her being able to do more with her vocals

Double stack vocals. That’s why the song sounds so much stronger vs when they sing it live. I’ve always felt the live version was very weak compared to the recorded version
This song is a rare Spice Girls song in which Victoria leads the whole song. She sings the whole chorus. Although on Mel C's chorus, she only harmonizes her.

What they did was record vocals separately in the booth the producer would have payed geri and Victoria’s vocal pieces over each other to create harmonisation the girls would have sang their vocals in the same key with 5 vocalist in the spice girls this would have been done a lot to uitilise their vocals if Geri and Victoria’s vocal range were similar it would of made sense to pair their vocals together Freddie Mercury actually did something similar with bohemian rhapsody by recording multiple vocals and layering them over each other

I think they recorded it in the studio like that so there's no way to isolate it! But I hear Geri and Mel B doing the low harmony, Victoria in the middle and Emma and Mel C doing the top part
Its not Geri and Victoria together. Its Geri harmonising with herself. Its a layered vocal. Thats why u hear Geri the most on the verses compared to the other girls.
