Beating inflation in Singapore | Retire or relocate to JB? 😳

  • Been thinking about relocating to JB, Malaysia. This may have sounded incredulous 10-15 years ago, but with the costs and pressures of living in Singapore these days, I’m seriously considering it as a viable option.
JB is well-developed and well-connected, offers great housing options and is just a train ride away from SG. All I’m missing is a feasible business that I can operate while living in JB 😂 In the far future, maybe!

Basically if one plans to make enough money in SG & retire in Msia that might be workable. But if a Sporean plans to live in Msia & work there then good luck.
Just take a waiter as an example. Let’s just simplify & say in SG a waiter earns S$2000. That’s more than RM6000. No restoran or hotel in Msia will pay a waiter RM6000. F&B Manager maybe but not waiter.
The way most Sporeans are used to comfortable lifestyle, with a Msian salary i say good luck maintaining that lifestyle.

Singapore is the most expensive country to live in be it is
    housings,cars,foods,entertainments,etc. I grieve for our
youngsters who had to spend so much money to enjoys
life after a hard day work. Yes when we are young we live
to eat versus eat to live. Like me I love eating when I was young and all my colleagues and relatives know I am a
big eater and they will pile all the foods they cannot eat on
my table to finish for them during wedding dinners. I had
since eat only one meals on most days and had not eaten

I did this because I don't to waste money on food since it

If you don't buy cooked food from outside, then the cost is about the same everywhere. For example, eggs, rice, noodle, milk are not cheaper in a village. It is when you hire contractors to fix your house that the cost is different. But the more competent people don't provide their services in cheaper towns, so you pay less for something that likely sucks. It will then depend on your tolerance of competence/incompetence. Try live in various places in Malaysia for a few decades, then you will notice this. * 60% of my life has been spent in Malaysia, and I am retired - in Malaysia.

If your soul draws to a certain country and makes you feel like a home (not necessarily having to be the place you were born), then just go and live there. If everyone wants to stay in the same place, where is the land for all of us to live, right?
