Liverpool fan here, I completely agree that the “new” system has weaknesses however the hope (from me anyway) is the inverted full back formation is the system we play against the weaker sides when we need to dominate and break down a low block whereas against the better sides I would hope we would play something far more solid and harder to counter/breakdown.
Mac Allister is a good signing in that he’s very versatile as well as being a good player and Szob is very technically gifted which could well equal goals from distance and set pieces.
I completely understand the scepticism but at the same time we have the only manager to best pep in the league and came insanely close on another 2 occasions, no champions league football and a front 5/6 as good as anyone in the world (in my opinion). I think we might just shock a few if we are sensible and don’t try to play the “new” way every game, you have to be flexible to win this league, there are so many good coaches and teams with so many different strengths and weaknesses, playing one way every week just isn’t enough anymore…

    • @Panthersfan226
      @Panthersfan226 ปีที่แล้ว +15

Liverpool supporter here as well. I lost a lot of faith in the summer rebuild when they failed to bring a new #6 in before the season. That was enough to make me bearish on Liverpool's chances this year. That said, I do think Lavia will be in and starting by mid-September. There are weaknesses at the back, but I can't see them finishing behind Chelsea, United, or Newcastle. My guess is third.
Apparently I'm still far more optimistic than Tifo. We're talking about Jurgen Klopp and his world-class attackers against the likes of Eddie Howe and Chelsea's transfer strategy.

      @sihi5634 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@Panthersfan226 yeah I get that, it’s madness that some of our ‘supporters’ are jealous of Chelsea’s approach. It shows me what the game has unfortunately become, everywhere you turn teams aren’t spending within their means and there is seemingly nothing the authorities can do. Of course I want more spending, think we can afford it and am worried we are yet to sign a 6 but it’s made so much worse when clubs like Chelsea and city can just consistently drop near world record fees on players without consequence, it makes everyone else job so much harder.

I don’t think Chelsea will be good this season. I mean, they’ll do better than last season for sure, but last season they finished 12th lol. I think this season Chelsea will finish top 8 but comfortably outside top 4. Here’s my reasoning - Nkunku is injured for a minimum of 3 months and even then it’s gonna take a while for him to be at his best after two back to back big injuries + without him Jackson will suffer a lot goals wise. Sterling is declining by the minute and Mudryk is also yet to convince in the Premier League. The only Chelsea forward I liked last season was Madueke but consistently will be key for him as even he is quite injury prone. Chelsea midfield is still MID at best (pun intended); it remains to be seen what other players they recruit in those positions before the end of the window. The back 4 of James, Silva, Colwill, and Chilwell is gonna be their strongest point this season imo.

About the midfielder I disagree, enzo and caicedo, if they get him, is a huge huge upgrade over most other teams in the league. PL predictions:
    Sack Race: Heckingbottom
    Golden Boot: Haaland
    POTS: Rashford
    YPOTS: Saka
    Best keeper: Alisson
    Best defender: Timber
    Best midfielder: Fernandes
    Best striker: Haaland
    Best signing: Onana
    Overachiever: Burnley
    Underachiever: Newcastle United
    1. Arsenal: Loos like Arsenal have not only improved in key positions, they now also have a plan B of going long in case their usual stuff isn't working. They did overperform their underlying numbers last season but so did City and I'm expecting Arsenal to be a better team this time around. Still, it would require some drop in motivation and performance from City for them to win.
    2. Man City: Still the best team in the league. But surely there will be a drop in motivation for them after winning it all last season. Haaland stayed fit pretty much throughout last season but his injury record suggests it is unlikely that such a season is repeated. KdB also looks shaky injury wise so this is a brave prediction by me that City won't win 4 in a row.
    3. Man United: ETH has improved a number of positions: GK, CM, ST and hopefully a CB and another midfielder yet to come. The most instrumental signing of these is of Onana which will improve United's build-up play and ball retention under pressure exponentially. It also allows United to play a higher line which improves their counter-pressing effectiveness. They underperformed their xG last season so I'm expecting 5-10 points improvement in their points tally from last season.
    4. Chelsea: Poch has done a great job already looking at their cohesiveness in pre-season compared to the mess they were last season around. Young team with a lot of potential but if they get Caicedo over the line, their midfield duo will be among the best in the league. That should help them pip Liverpool.
    5. Liverpool: Looks like they will miss out on Caicedo which is huge. Team desperately needed a DM of that calibre and no one else is as good. Will score a lot of goals but should concede a lot on counters as well. Caicedo going to Chelsea will be the difference between the teams.
    6. Spurs: Losing Kane so late is a major inconvenience. Though I feel Richarlison will seamlessly slot in at no. 9 in Ange's system. No European distraction is a boon which should propel them above Newcastle. They have also finally replaced Lloris and Vertonghen this season with Vicario and van de Ven and added creativity in the form of Maddison too. Also, still time to reinvest the Kane bounty and bring in a couple more quality players.
    7. Newcastle United: Fine transfer window but more is needed as their competitors have all improved massively. Their style is well suited to cup competitions, so I expect them to go far in UCL. But that will in turn affect their league form. New PL rules about time wasting will also him them disproportionally harder.
    8. Aston Villa: Excellent transfer window, among the best in the division. Diaby could be a revelation if he carries his Bundesliga form with him. Torres and Tielemans also shrewd additions. Playing in Conference league though will take a lot out of them particularly because I expect them to win it.
    9. Brighton: Losing Caicedo is a big miss. Will therefore take some time to get in their groove. Having the extra load of Europa league will take its toll though and so they won't do quite as well as last season. Also, teams will be better prepared against them so new ideas to further counter them will be required. Looking forward to further innovations from RDZ.
    10. Burnley: Kompany is an excellent manager and Burnley were inevitable in Championship last season. They have had a very good transfer window too topped up by buying Berge recently from a rival. My pick for the overachievers this season though will be a close call between them and Bournemouth.
    11. Bournemouth: Really looking forward to watching them. Great transfer window but the best signing was undoubtedly Andoni Iraola. His style of play at Rayo was so much fun to watch as well as very effective.
    12. Brentford: No Toney for half of the season will hurt them but Frank is a very pragmatic and shrewd manager and should figure out a way to keep them firmly out of trouble. Raya is a big loss and Flekken has huge shoes to fill. Solid work in the transfer window though by bringing Collins in.
    13. Fulham: Very important to keep hold of Mitrovic who provides most of the goals. Were great vs bottom half teams last season but pretty mediocre against top half teams. Should continue that trend which will keep them away from relegation battle but will finish worse than last season as there is more quality teams in the league this season. Have high hopes for Bassey.
    14. West Ham: Really need to spend that Rice money soon especially since there is another matter of Europa league as well. Must do everything to keep Paqueta as well. The squad do have some quality players but much will depend on their work in the rest of the window.
    15. Crystal Palace: Not a good window till now with only Lerma in and no Zaha replacement. Did great under Hodgson last season but there is no Zaha and Olise might also leave soon so that performance will be tough to replicate. Will be heavily involved in the relegation battle but should have enough quality to see them through.
    16. Nottingham Forest: Should stay up as long as they keep hold of Johnson, Awoniyi and MGW who were their main sources of goals last season. Will be in the relegation battle again but their home performances were great last season and it will need something similar again.
    17. Luton Town: This team has over performed at every stage of their rise and have done good work in the window by bringing some good progressive attackers. Looked good in the pre-season too and I expect some big scalps at their home games. Home form may get them through just like it did for Forest last season.
    18. Everton: Another poor transfer window as they haven't solved any of their problems. Have only just survived the last 2 seasons and will be in another battle. Again lack of goals should doom them.
    19. Wolves: All over the place with Lopetegui gone. Gary O'Neill will struggle to get enough goals out of this team so no repeat of his heroics with Bournemouth last season.
    20. Sheffield United: Just horrible transfer window, selling all their best players even to direct rival. Will need a miracle in the rest of the window to have a chance.

The impact of relegation is well known and I'd have thought they'd be desperate to avoid this. Also as a reminder David De Gea got the Golden Glove last year and I think Jon had shown in another vid that except for maybe 5 terrible games he had a very strong season. Yes, the narrative last season was about how a better goalie would be better but the reality was that he was pretty good.
Oh, and you cracked me up w the horse bit. And Jon loving idioms so much he tried to invent one: "well, if they can make a lasagna big enough to fill Wembley." I could definitely use that in real life and people would think it already exists.

Time for Tifo IRL to create a follow up video for their season predictions, no way LFC is finishing 5 and that’s even before tonight’s record signing

Not sure if this came out before or after the Wolves manager news broke, but I think they're at serious risk of relegation

Tifo is great as long as you factor in JJ's slight hatred of Manchester United 🤣
