- Maya Bay, a beautiful beach on secluded Phi Phi Ley island. Made famous by the movie "The Beach". By long tail boat you will arrive at the back of the island, opposite the bay. From your boat, swim to the stairs. Be careful when you reach the stairs, there are ropes to help but the surges can push and pull you along the rocks. After a short hike on a sandy trail, the jungle opens up to a brilliant, sparkling aqua bay, Maya bay, it boasts the warmest ocean water I've ever felt, averaging 86 degrees. Just one word ,"WOW!" The scenery was picturesque . It felt like watching a movie. I'm in awe of that splendid beauty.

My husband and I went there twenty years ago and it was absolute paradise.

We got dropped off at the back near the stairs and I nearly died trying to swim to that staircase 🙈 was a beautiful experience though seeing it with all its beauty. On the way back we also nearly died a second time trying to fight the huge waves to swim to our boat as none of the guys on the tour cared 😂 I also found when we went swimming it was really rocky on the feet. So spectacular and amazing!
Wow - that stair climb was precarious but amazingly beautiful! A nice sandy white beach too. The rocks are stunning! May all your next adventures be as awesome. Take care!

What a beautiful bay! We used to snorkle in a little bay near Napoli Italy. The water was crystal clear. You could see grains of sand at 10 ft of water. 67°.
But this bay is much prettier.

Last year we took the Maya Bay Boat Tour there and slept in the bay overnight, had the entire island to a group of 10 from late afternoon till 8am and swimming at 2am with phytoplankton glowing in the water, even better after a few vodka buckets...absolutely amazing!
Doing the same here memom as a caregiver to my Mom and am really enjoying the videos and sharing them with her too!

When we were there, we arrived by speed boat from the front side of Maya Bay. Maya Bay was one of my favorite beaches for sure. I also love Ko Samuii.

Those stairs are new! We went in 2005 the only way we could get to Maya Bay was through that little hole! It was amazing anyways and the waves were not as bad, so we were lucky!

Wow what an adventure you are having. So pretty. The best place I've ever been is St. Augustine, FL and I'd give anything to be back there right now. Taking care of my Mom is what I'm supposed to do right now and a get a way for me and Hubby is just not possible but I'm loving watching yours!

Gee, thanks for the tip about getting to maya.I always presumed that since there were boats anchored at Maya-you get dumped right at the beach!
From my research, it appears this popular spot is packed all year round! So, consider yourselves fortunate to have only a few other tourists there.

Yes, it truly is unbelievable. The Boxing Day Tsunami was one of the biggest disasters Finland has ever encountered, albeit it happened so far away. I believe almost everyone knows somebody (yes, we are a small country, but still...) who did't survive.
