    I am a Newby to adult coloring ( because I am tired of cross stitching)and I have been coloring like I did as a child, using the dark color to out line and then filling in with a lighter color. I did not know there was so much to adult coloring and you my dear have taken it to the limit. I love your videos that I have seen. I want to watch them all.

    I have several hi end pencils but just bought 100 count CraZArts and I’m equally impressed. Just finished a coloring page and shocked how intense the blues and oranges were. The pencils work differently on different
    papers too. They had a pack of 12 Neons and most are excellent! You do beautiful work- thanks!

    I started out with Crayola Pencils. I have prisma also. I still find my self still going back to Crayola. I do use CrazArt also. The Prismas blender pencil works on the Crayola so save your Prisma white. Your white Crayola will blend. Also you can get up to 6 layers with Crayola. One thing I also noticed, was depending on what paper you have is Crayola will fade, even Prisma fades some. It drives me nuts when people put down Crayola. Your work is awesome and love how you show what can be done with them. Also in the 100 set of Crayola pencils there is 6 different grays. And people should check out each Crayola sets. You may find a color in a small set you won't find in a large set. Great job on your tutorial

    Hi Pamela, have seen you post new videos in a F.B. Group that we both are in for some time now, but haven’t really paid much attention. However this past week, I saw you post a couple of videos on using Crayola that came across my recommendation list. Curiosity is what made me stop and look to see what you were going to do with them. I, like so many others, started out using Crayola (4 years ago, the 50 pack) and while I now have nicer sets (Prisma, Schpirerr Farben, F.C. Polychromos), I still to this day enjoy using Crayola and do so fairly frequently. Just wanted to thank you for showing new/newer colorists that they don’t really need expensive products to get nice results!
    I used these babies for a good year plus before I really started using my next set of pencils, which were the Prismas (lol, had them several months before I even started using them and took me a good year before felt really comfortable with them). I learned how to layer, blend, shade and do shadows with them (Crayola). Being naturally light handed, I can depending on the paper get 8-12 layers with them and I have to say that with Crayola, that is how you are going to get the maximum color out of them...layering them. Going in hard isn’t going to do nearly as nice of a job and....as is true with any other pencil set, including Prisma, you’re not going to be able to get nearly the depth by doing that. Once again, thank you for showing new colorists what is possible with these so underrated pencils! (BTW, I have the 100 count, but not the 120...after seeing you swatch them out... I am so tempted to go ahead and get them...those new blues are to “die for”, plus having a burnt ocher? type color?...definitely something I want to think about!)

    That's interesting. I always start with my light colors first and then blend upward to my darker colors. I've been working my drawings this way for 75 years.I began with Crayola crayons, they were my favorite media until I went to art school for 4 years in high school and then I upgraded to oils. Now I prefer gouache. It's much better than watercolor. You have to try many media until you find the one that suits you best.

      To test my skills at shading, I did the same design in monotones. That was an interesting test for my skill. That is to say, you do a picture in all blues. Then another in all reds, or greens. The results are interesting and you learn to use the various hues of blues, or reds or greens and their mates in the same family of colors. I had fun with that practice.

    I have been dithering about buying this set. I have the 100 set and used it for close to 2 years before I could afford Prismacolor. You can do some nice work with them. Then I saw this video and said, what the heck, they're cheap. They just came today, haven't had a chance to try them yet, but am about to shortly. Love this combo, BTW.

      You will have to let me know what you think after you try them out. I absolutely love them. No, they are not gonna have the same amount of pigment as something like a Prismacolor. But, that’s OK. You can mix them with your Prismacolors and they work wonderfully.

    It just goes to show, that blaming the supplies is not always the right answer. I started with crayola and prang my self and colored some interesting galaxies. I've since upgraded to Arteza and Prismacolor. I love the way they blend into each other, but I enjoyed the light layers I could achieve with the hard wax. It's all in perspective, and the grass is always greener mentality we all have sometimes. Wonderful demonstration and great color combination, TFS 👍❤

      @@tabbylynn4130 I have no experience with artist grade pencil so I don't know how they best work. The crayola pencils I use from light to dark. In very light layers until I get the look that I'm looking for. The only time I don't use light layers is when I use the lighter colors as a resist. I had to bring myself to having an open mind because these pencils are something I wouldn't have ever purchased other than for my children. I am very surprised at how much I am enjoying them. I wouldn't had thought I could make them look as good as something like a Prismacolor. Of course, they don't go down like a Prismacolor, but every pencil is different. Happy New Year! I hope your nephew enjoyed his new coloring book.

      I watched a video by Coloring Bliss and they didn't do well when she tested them. Then again, she's a die-hard Prisma fan & may have high standards. So I'm curious if with the right application, the Color Escapes might be just as good as the Crayola 120 set.

      @@YourMajesty143 I have both sets. I tried a turquoise pencil in a Kerby Rosanes book this afternoon and it worke out just fine. The pigment was good. I shaded it with a darker Polychromos pencil and it was acceptable. I do think it will perform better on paper that has some tooth. Thanks for replying

    • @YourMajesty143
      @YourMajesty143 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pattytolliver2651 - The toothiness is an easy fix with some sort of gel medium or watercolor ground, but my priority would be whether or not the Escapes have more wax binders than pigment. If so, my solution would be to use an alcohol or mineral-based blender (combined with a warming tray) to help get the blends down smoothly. I know it seems like alot of work just for a pencil, but tbh coloring pencils in general are a slowww process to work with and if having blenders & warmers help expedite the process for Crayola, then surely they'll speed things up even more for higher quality pencils. That, or I may have to look into buying pastels or paints to make coloring as hassle-free as possible. I'm so lazy lol.
