I use a grow light on my northfolk island pine , I also use a light meter to make sure all my plants get the right amount of foot candles that they need, in the summer I don’t use some of my grow lights because the south facing window does the job for some of my plants. One tip I can give that helps me is: if you don’t have a light meter you should get one there not expensive, then learn the light( in foot candles )that each type of plant you own likes , after you have learned what each type of plant you own likes for light, use the light meter and test out your current lighting conditions , if the location doesn’t have enough foot candles for the plants liking move the plant to a better location were it will get better lighting for its liking, or add a grow light to increase the light. What we see as bright to us humans may not be bright enough for our plants, but if we use a light meter we can make sure that the light that are plants get is the amount that they want.

Hello from Australia, I've seen Norfolk Island pines in parks and gardens that are meters high and are as big as large trees.

Yes! Mine started small like they all do! And will take many years to get to a decent size indoors

Which fertilizer/ plant food do you use and soil? Is feeding once or twice a year? How many months? Appreciate it thanks.

Thanks for the tips! My pine unfortunately has browned a lot. I water about once every 2 weeks and keep it by the window. I live in the northeast in north america. The pot it was in didn't have drainage for about 9 months, so I changed it to one that does. With the proper care will the brown and wilted branches perk back up, or do they need to be cut off? Thank you!

I have a Norfolk pine from Christmas it seemed to be doing fine but I noticed the branches at the bottom started to curl and dry out. I moved it to a brighter window but I live in the basement and there’s only some direct light in the morning. After watching your video I’m going to move it outside to the west side(gets the most light during the day). But the dry branches have continued moving upward and now half the plant is like that and only the top still feels fine but I can tell it’s starting to dry as well. Is it too late for it?

I found one in the garbage looking pretty shabby. Can I save it from ruin?

Thank you for checking in! You’re absolutely right, it’s been a minute - I started a new job and that’s been taking the majority of my time this new year. But will be doing more content soon! Any recommendations?
