    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
When he hears that Rudy (Sean Astin) has quit, Fortune (Charles S. Dutton) reveals that years back, he also quit the team and has regretted it ever since.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
A young man learns to let nothing stop him from realizing his ambitions in this drama, based on a true story. Ever since he was a little boy, Rudy Ruettiger (Sean Astin) has dreamed of attending Notre Dame University, and playing on the Fighting Irish football team. However, Rudy's dream doesn't seem very practical; Daniel (Ned Beatty), his father, works in a steel mill and can ill afford to send his son to Notre Dame, while Rudy's grades are not especially impressive, and standing a shade over five feet tall and weighing a little over 100 pounds, Rudy is hardly built for the gridiron. However, with the help of Father Cavanaugh (Robert Prosky), a sympathetic priest, Rudy is admitted to nearby Holy Cross, and in his junior year manages to squeak into Notre Dame as a transfer student. Rudy works as an assistant to the football stadium's groundskeeper, Fortune (Charles S. Dutton), to pay his tuition (often sleeping in Fortune's office since he can't afford a room), studies diligently, and appears at tryouts for the football team. Rudy is made a member of the practice team, which means he's little more than a human tackling dummy, but Coach Ara Parseghian (Jason Miller) is impressed with Rudy's devotion and determination, and pledges that he'll allow him to dress for one game before he graduates, so his name can be recorded as an official member of the team. However, the arrival of a new coach and a tough season that allows for few unnecessary players may put a stop to Rudy's dreams within sight of the finish line. Rudy also stars Jon Favreau, Lili Taylor, and Scott Benjaminson.

Rudy dealt with so many people that he would never go to Notre Dame for his Disability. Never be able to play for Notre Dames Football Team b/c he was undersized. He didn't have to prove anything to anyone except himself! I also had a Disability growing up, and was told I would never go to College or have a good job. I was told to quit and go work at Walmart. But one College took a chance on me, it was a struggle in the beginning, but I got through it and Graduated. Then eventually found a good job that has been a career!

“Still not a week goes by I don’t regret it.”
Personally, this resonates deep with me. I’m in my early 20s and I have to many regrets already. I’m done letting my attitude or my unsurety in my self to keep me from what I need to do or what I should be doing.

Blue Tortoise Most of us make many mistakes and accumulate regrets in our 20s (I did!). The ones that don't, eventually make those same mistakes later on in life, where there is more to lose. If you play your cards right, your value as a person (financially and socially) exponentially increases in your early 30s and well into your 50s and beyond. Sounds like you have about a decade to look at your cards, analyse your game plan, and make a play. I think the odds are very high on your favor.

I played select soccer for Solar soccer club , won the Dallas Cup., traveled all over the U.S had great moments and great teammates and a great opportunity right there in my lap. I'm 26 years old now and not a day goes by that I dont regret walking away from it all. If i knew then what i know now i would have pushed through to the finish line. If i had known those great moments would turn into bittersweet memories I would have done it different. Now I realize it only happens once in a lifetime being in the position I was in and I was too young minded and stupid to realize it. Instead of going in for the kill , I walked away from it all at will. Just to hang out with my so called "friends" instead of going to practice. To go to partys on the weekend instead of being on that field on the weekend. Such a bittersweet life this is , to grown up amd fully understand what you now want in your life was right at your feet at one point. Moral of the story is never give up , or stray off the path less traveled. Take it from someone full of regret , to keep from regretting. You only get one chance at life do it right.

Very motivational scene for anyone with ambition, dreams, goals. I currently feel this way about TH-cam, doing TH-cam (for 3 years now, minimal results). I understood then when I started, and I understand still now how difficult it is to devote oneself to a specific path. Despite occasional nods of encouragement, I currently find myself in limbo. I haven't quit, but I do feel at a loss, loss of spirit. I still make videos and will continue to do so. Riding the bench sucks; But being present is better than not showing up at all. No one should be absent from their own life. Even if the road ends up nowhere, the effort is validation enough. If you give up on something you like doing it's kind of like betraying yourself. Being true to oneself is really the best anyone can do. So just like Rudy I'll continue to maintain Fortune's Truth. Truth to Oneself.

Thought I wasn’t being played because of my color and I got filled up with all kinds of attitude so I quit!” Was he not being played due to race? I love the fact that the movie leaves that question ambiguous because THAT’S NOT THE POINT! The point is that regardless of what other people do, you can’t let them beat you by quitting and stop looking to other people for your validation. There’s a lot of young men black and white that need to take these words to heart.
