The beauty of this movie is that you dont have to be a fan Notre Dame, or be a fan of football, or even be a fan of sports. The beauty of this movie, is that of passion. To be passionate about something, anything, in your life thats worth giving yourself for. Motivating yourself to accomplish a set of goals that will in turn get you closer to that end goal. Rudy wanted nothing more than to run out of that tunnel, no matter the reasons, and he reached that goal. This movie shows you that if you want something bad enough, and are willing to give yourself completely, you can do it. YOU can do it!!
This scene is so powerful it makes me so emotional. How Rudy’s passion and heart is so contagious it pierces through Fortunes disgruntled defensive walls. Because he said it himself later in the film, that not a day goes by he regrets quitting. So seeing the no quit attitude from somehow who appears have no chance, so strong and motivated is breath taking. Damn I love this movie. I comeback to this scene every time I feel down.
I have and will always feel that the head Janitor was present for this speech and that is why he laughs and looks. This is the moment he knew that Rudy was something else.

I used to play with extreme emotion so both movies fired me up.
Only one word to describe this scene: PASSION. His passion for Notre Dame football just bleeds through, and wins oven his supervisor. Really moving scene.
My Dad went to a Catholic School in Canada and got a football scholarship to Fullerton College in 1956. His life dream was to play football for Notre Dame, but his knew blew out while playing at Fullerton, his dream was crushed. My Dad is THE BIGGEST DOTRE DAME FAN, you will ever know!!! My parent's den is filled with photos, a brick he bought while visiting Notre Dame, memorabilia, ticket stubs and for his 65th birthday (2003) I wrote a letter to Father Hesburgh asking if he would send my dad a letter acknowledging his birthday and bless him, he did! My Dad has this letter framed and on his wall of pride. When my parents went to visit Notre Dame, my Dad walked onto the grounds and teared up, he was on 'holy ground'. He went to the grotto and prayed, mostly thanking God for allowing him to be at Notre Dame. I bookmarked this video as I'm going to give Rudy's speech as a Eulogy at my Dad's funeral, or his Irish wake but I pray it's many, many years away. My whole family has seen this movie Rudy countless times, as per my Dad's "request", lol. In all seriousness, the words Notre Dame are sacred in my family.
That's what passion looks like, for all of you that have never seen it. Fantastic movie about a real blue collar success story. Thanks Rudy, for living it so I could see it.
It's this great amalgamation... the nostalgia of Knute Rockne, Rudy's love for that speech, and then Fortune's appreciation for Rudy, in that moment.... Ah, hell, the whole thing is just one of the *best* scenes in any movie, ever. It makes me cry every time.
